  • Interesting ! We have a terifiying superstition if a Little Owl is calling near to your house, somebody will die soon. So,now this little bird is calling here, and I just wanted to check the song. Lucky that they are at least 100 people in the blocks around. Stil....:-( Do you have the same superstition ?

  • @ramo18tm Thanks for sharing, in Czech Republic we have the exact same superstition! It's nice to know we share it with Romania:-)

  • @Nefertari155 ...and Serbia too. Only it's not this particular call of hers that scares village folk. It's the one much louder, sounding like high-pitched "youwee!" repeated several times in succession. For this reason, it's called Kukumavka or Kukavija, from verb "kukati" for being kind of similar to cry of lament. They are slowly regaining their numbers and getting out of endangered status, with this superstition fading over time which can still be found in more isolated villages.

  • Awesome, so lucky to have seen a Little Owl AND caught it in song. Well done, this is spectacular

  • Beautifully captured moment yes :-)
