For a starting ocarina, I would suggest songbirdocaina(dot)com's Focalink Alto C. It is good quality and relatively inexpensive.

do you think its possible for one to play this song on the hylian shield ocarina that songbird made? its a 6 hole in the key of G with a range of an octave and a third. how capable is that ocarina of playing this song?

@myraluvssaltines Because there are multiple parts to this song, it should be possible to play at least some. WIth a 1 and a third octave range ocarina you should be able to. It may require some transposing because it is in G. If I ever want to find out, I just try to play along with the video (transposing as needed).

@awells88 a minor note on that one.. they have changed the design on the ocarina.. i had one just like youres untill my friends cat decided to push it down from a table so i bought another one but the design was changed and so was some of the holes on the second chamber.. and i can hear a clear difference in sound its like its a half tone off the key its supose to be in.. (i have AC)

@awells88 they have not updated the design on the wepside pictures for some reason..and stragly enough focalinks site have the same pictures of the desig.. but its cut in the end so its not so long anymore and the new design makes the ocarina sound alot different.. when i play to songs on youtube that i could play with my old focalink like the one you have. then it sounds really out of toon and sontimes i have to play a different note to match the one i have to play..

Hmmm... This sounds like the Forte Double Alto C. They are different. If you ordered a regular DAC and got a Forte DAC, id say your lucky. But then your saying it is out of tune? Are you sure you are playing the sub holes correctly? The upper chambers usually have different fingerings than the typical flat/sharp style of the first chamber.

@awells88 i just took the ocarina out and tryed to play ballad af the windfish (docjazz4 version with high chamber) an to my surprise it sounded right.. i have tryed many diffeent fingering on the high chamber and i think i have found one that works.. the problem was that the fingering chart i got with the ocarina was not for the fingering style that this ocarina used.. so now it works but the tune of the ocarina is a little different from the old version but ofc efery ocarina is different.

@awells88 Oh, you're welcome, The thing about being good with music is not always knowing how to play, but to live the music and get into it, so you're pretty much in the right path :) Thank you :) they are my first videos ever, I just submitted them yesterday, so I needed to hear how were they ^^ . I guess I also will be needing a good camera and a good mike, because my webcam is not that great and reduces the actual beautiful sound of the ocarina, it's a shame.

I used MIDI files. They are editable, so I took out the lead part(s) and replaced it with the parts I play. I can not think of any free programs that offer editing and conversion to MP3, but Fruity Loops Studio is what I use to do all that.
