This bill isn't perfect, but it is FAR, FAR better than nothing ( or what we've had. )
The bill would have been perfect though if the public option was in it. Instead, the private health insurance companies automatically inherit over 32 million+ more folks who have to pay for someone to profit off of their health. Health care has *NO* business being for-profit! That is where everything gets screwed up!
hahahaha!!! you yanks don't deserve a national health, as I am sure you would mess that up as well, and you wonder why the other 30 odd countries that rank higher than you and enjoy good quality health care whether or not they lose their jobs are laughing their arses off at you!, c'mon yanks, wake up!!!
Healthcare is not a civil right, no more than owning a car or a home. The government should NOT require it people to buy anything. Please before you comment, read the 2100 page bill in the US Senate, or the 1900+ page bill in the US House.
Christ! These people are insane! No wonder they're freaking out. If you believed what the guy at 02:55 believed, you'd grab a torch and pitchfork too. Problem is, he's probably off by about 2,200%.
Here's the upshot. This reform will help prevent you, me and our fellow Americans from needlessly suffering from treatable illness if otherwise difficult situations arise. It's not a threat to your rugged individualism, it's a chance for America to fully embrace civilization.
I haave always been a uninvolved citizen until I was attacked by a nut who was screeming at me because I was listening to tal radio in my car. the man smashed my car and visously punched at my window. My friend caufght it all onn video and called 911. he was arrested and charged with assult. Police latter told me he was a local Union Member. I voted for Obama and this man called me a right-winger. So for now on I will be involved, but it will be to Protest Obama and his Thugs!
One of the better questions is at the end asking about those who refuse to follow doctors instructions, thus increasing the cost of their personal health maintenance. Harkin responds "Thats their problem." He says this, because well, then that person is less healthy.
Obviously, the cost is shared with the "pool" at large. But what critics fail to address is the money wasted on emergency room visits by these less healthy people. Do you really think the new bill will make this problem worse?
common sence capitalism? she dont even know what that means. if there is a public option plan it will act as capitalism by forcing the insurance companies to compete with the public option. there just scared of change. i see no young people there at all how interesting.
If you dont agree I respect your opinion but you wont change mine and I am sure I wont change yours. If the majority wants things to stay the same in terms of health insurance then ill respect that too. But what I dont like is misinformation on the matter. If your passionate about this subject I hope you did your research independently and not by republican or democratic emails to guide you on to where to look. And thats all I have to say
I love how the Conservative News Media channel on YouTube censors any dissenting voices on videos of the dissenting voices. I also love how the right wing nuts have resorted to the childlike behavior of PETA and Code Pink on the wing-nut left to make their points. Shouting over someone and not listening at a town hall meeting makes you look less concerned about learning and doing what is right, and more concerned that you win politically after a number of butt-kickings your party has taken.
Oh geez, if I could have a nickel for every foolish statement Harkin made, I'd be rich. Does he really think he's dealing with morons?
I liked the question the lady asked at the end about what happens if they don't follow the plan. He thinks it's their problem? Obviously, it becomes everyones problem. Why should people take preventive measures if any and all doctor visits are free and get paid by taxpayers. Duh!
Harkin is my representative, but he doesn't represent me the way I ask him to, and neither do Grassley, or Boswell. I feel like I don't have any representation at all in Washington D.C.(District of Criminals).
You are correct. We need term limits! Listen to Steve Deace on WHO 1040 out of Des Moines, He will light your fire! Democrats or Republicans, it doesn't seem to matter any more. They are all crooks. Term Limits!
Ron Paul has been speaking about term limits for 10 years, with no success. In the begining, well to do people would get voted in, serve 1 or 2 terms, then go back to their jobs in the private sector. And they did it for free, for the honor and glory of serving their country. Now they don't work for the people, they work for the rich, and there's nothing honorable about the things they do. If they won't leave willingly, they need to be voted out.
If you really think so, then talk all of congress and the senate into accepting term limits. Then Dr. Pauls job will be done and he will retire and enjoy the rest of his life. If you want to talk about hypocrites, what about our representatives who want to give us socialized health care, but refuse to put a provision into the bill requiring them to have the same health care? Ron Paul is the most honest politician I've seen in years, if they were more like him, term limits wouldn't be an issue.
i like ron paul even though i dont agree with him on a lot of issues. he is one of the few republicans in congress i actually respect, but it is hypocritical to say one thing and do another.
also, can you message me some links to where members of congress refuse to be part of the public option? i dont know too much about that
He says the insurance and pharmapseudical companies overcharging, I thought regulations were supposed to stop the rich from robbing the poor. But instead they're used to put the little guy out of bussiness. If insurance , pharmapseudical, and hostpital corporations were forced to cut prices in half, they would probably still make a nice little profit. Why do the poor and middle class always have to pay the bill, we're not the ones who've been robbing us for the last 100 years.
What I love is the fact that the Government, once again, is not willing to admit that alot of the problems we have with the Health Insurance Industry is not the "for-profit" motives, it's the already existing government interfearance. If the really wanted to improve the system, they would just lift the restrictions and allow the companies to compete. It's the only way to insure you are getting the best available service, otherwise you may be stuck with barely acceptable under the Government.
Congressman come to this meetings with just 'talking point" --- print up a summary and hand it out.
So far the Dem health care does not work the way they have put in the Bill.
They want to help un-insured people then stop MedicAID cost and add the money saved and open Free Clinics in every State. Use the money and help pay new Doctors and Nursing education cost if they provide free service.
Quit coming to meetings if you have not read the bills and publish facts.

That's not true. The goverment prints money out of thin air to pay for anything it wants. You can't compete with that.
If you or I did it, it's considered counterfeiting. If the federal goverment does it, it's just another day at the Federal Reserve.
Not to mention that printing money out of thin air is a hidden tax, called inflation.
I'm not scared of "change" if it comes in the form of limited goverment.

so, how fair is it do you think for insurance companies to compete with their regulator? Isnt that the fox guarding the henhouse?
