I'm not knocking you,but DEAR GOD!!How can you stand not having any space??? I thank God everyday i don't have to live in a claustrophobic, rat infested, way too exspensive crap hole of a city.I live in N.C. in a lovely 3 bdrm.townhome for 600.00 per month, including the pool.I have peace of mind,a great community.I just can't stand New York!I hate HATE,city life. Each to his own.I have been offered to visit N.Y. before, and i just won't go.Anyway, good luck to you.
The bike is hung with one bike hook mounted into the ceiling. The only trick was to measure the distance from the wall to the center of the front wheel so the bike hangs with both tires on the wall. Use a magic eraser to wipe off any tread marks that get on the wall from the contact of the tires and your good to go. Hope that helps. Ryan
@pinkfairykid If you knew how high rent is in NYC, you'd know this guy probably isn't poor and is probably paying more for this place than we do for much larger places in other cities.
@pinkfairykid Today, that unit runs around 2,100 a month, easily more depending where it is in on the island. Please educate yourself on housing costs in NYC.
What a nightmare, might as well call this a modern concentration camp. Why do people fall for the New York hype scam? When you get older, you'll realize that real life is outside the city life.
@Rw7451 I think it's all relative. I'm in the UK and lived right in the centre of London for almost 3 years. I outgrew it when I was about 24/25 and moved to the suburbs. I don't know if NYC is the same, but in London there was always so much going on 24/7, and I really miss that, you just don't get that in suburbs, but it's more practical moving out, you get so much more space for your money. I wouldn't say that "real life is outside the city" though, if anything there's more life inside it.
@Rw7451 My ass I lived in NYC for 16 years born and rised. My dad wanted a house so we moved to NJ summer 2009 its boring as fuck out here ! nothing to do nothing to see the pizza sucks ass and it just plan sucks !
@Rw7451 There's a lot of things to do here. I could get nearly any type of authentic cuisine, whenever I want. It's a highly diverse area and it feels like the world is always within your grasp. I live in the suburbs of Queens and not much goes on here but I have easy access to Manhattan and anytime I'm there, I'm amazed at the share amount of stores and eateries it has. I definitely believe the cost of living there is worth it, even if I personally wouldn't live there myself.
I feel like the dark colored walls kinda close off the already small place.. maybe hang some mirrors to make the place look bigger? it was a cute little place though! I liked it a lot (:
btw, for those who are wondering, the bathroom is right next to the front door, he doesn't show it, prob for privacy reasons.
you've done a good job decorating. here's he weird one, the thought of living in a motorhome doesn't bother me much at all. bu the thought of living in that small a space makes my claustrophobia trip. :D still like i said, you've done well. if you've around 8' ceilings ever consider a loft bed? that'd open up the space underneath & if you pick the right loft bed, some of em have chest of drawer and bookshelves built in. just a thought. :D cheers!
I'm the same as you, Witch. My 200 year old house is no great shakes, but I also don't have people living on top of me...a thought that causes me to twitch.
I wouldn't have a problem living there. Don't really need a bigger place. The fact that it's in NYC, on top of having a job, it's not like you'll be spending all the time in the world in your apartment. Perfect for basic needs and some entertainment for rainy days.
Studios are great - I live in one in downtown DC and, if properly decorated and furniture carefully chosen, it's the best place to be. Minimalism is the best--less time to clean and organize, more time for play.
Hi I had a question. I'm moving to NYC in 2 months. I wanted to know what would be the best place to search for studio flats. I'm willing to spend upto $1500.
lived in manhatten for 18 years, rent control was the only thing the protected lower income families. Nowadays its pretty much impossible to find a clean decent place thats affordable on a modest salary. I even moved to Philadelphia and renting a clean room here is more expensive than renting an apartment in the midwest.
Man! Your apartment is small as hell, but cute. You keep it nice and it is not a sh##hole apartment. It is just so small. How much do you pay in rent?
@MatxoMan you simply can't find the lifestyle of NYC anywhere else (and i don't mean suburbian queens or staten island, i mean living in the heart of NYC - manhattan). period. you won't believe how much people are willing to sacrifice for that lifestyle.
@retroguy02 Why can't you have the same lifestyle in Astoria if it's 5 minutes to Midtown by train? You can get a place 3 times as big for the same price, same lifestyle but MUCH better living conditions. People who say things like that are transplants who insist on living in the City and probably have not step foot in any other borough let alone lived there.
You can get a studio like that in Yorkville on the Upper East Side for $1400. Studios are cheap up there because of the recession. Still a rip off, if you ask me. You can get an apartment 3 times as big as this for that much in Astoria, Queens, 10 minutes from Midtown by train. Living in Manhattan is way overrated.
@TheSportzfan64 i live really comfortable in my chicago studio which is basically et up identically to this same layout. past 25, i couldnt take roomates crap (gfs, short on rent, stinking up the place)
@TheSportzfan64 That's no different than a bigger place. It's still all yours, and you still don't have to share it with anyone. If i had a choice, i sure as hell wouldn't be living my my tinny little apartment. But it's all that i can afford, and on the plus side, the neighbors are nice, and it's home for what it's worth :-/
Ok I love his studio haha...I plan to move to NYC in a couple of months and I actually was there to check some studios in Brooklyn, my only concern is the closet space. Really tiny
to save money in NY rent an apartment in Brooklyn a studio can go for 800 a month there some 1 bedroom as low as 900 a month you are not that far from manhattan at most half hour by train manhattan you would most likely pay 1000 a month for that place
Nice apartment by the way. If I ever moved to NYC I'd like something like that. I've lived in the country in Arkansas for years and it's starting to get old (I'm not from here though). It's funny how people complain about things being too small but really, what do you need? Unless you have a family all you need is a tiny place like this, even if you spend a lot of time there. In my bedroom I fit an HDTV, Xbox 360, PC, bed, dresser, and an upright piano, and it's smaller than this place.
nice pad, i'm moving into one in 2 months and can't wait. love the blue paint, it's hard to find that. all the places i've looked at are bright and boring. (so far)
My favorite place I ever lived in was in Houston Tx. It was across from the pool had a neat patio door and rent was $175 a month. It was easy to pay for very clean and very neat. Your place is peaceful thats all that counts.
That is TINNNNNNNNNNNNY!!! But like Tim Gun, you make it work! I love it. Nice and clean and looks like you have space to walk around! If it's just you, you don't need a ton of space because what is a home?

I believe the bathroom is on the right when he first comes in. It's on the opposite wall from the kitchen. At the end of the video you can see a door on what becomes the left of the frame.
Wow I didn't expect it to be that small. I live in a studio (in the UK) but the main room is 220 square feet and has a large separate kitchen/diner and a small bathroom. I have never seen an apartment this small before, but I guess it is in NY so it must still be really expensive right?

Also, any advice on where to live, how to find a cheap but decent apartment, etc. would be much appreciated!
The Upper East Side is NOT the priciest are to live in Manhattan, in fact it's one of the cheapest places to live. Soho and the Village are the most expensive.
The apartment is located on the Upper East Side (UES) of Manhattan in the East 80's between 1st and 2nd Avenues. The apartment is in contract to sell for 299K.
I've always wanted a tall, blue room, ever since I was a kid. Now I have a studio and can't figure out how to get a bed in with my sofa. I need your expertise. Your place is lovely. Let's trade. It would, however, require a cross-country move.
I totally forgot about the bathroom during the tour, but yes I do have a bathroom. As soon as i open the door and walk in, there is a door to the right. Its a decent size bathroom with a full shower/tub, toilet, sink, and a little place to stand.
oh, thats kool. me and my gf are moving to the upper east side and we just wanted to see how a studio looks like. i would give up space for new york any day
Hi.. how much do you pay a month for that place? because i'm thinking about moving to new york and i'm looking for a small cheap studio.. anyone!!! Help Please!!
i'd love to live in nyc, but it's so expensive for a small place! i really don't care about living in a small place because in nyc you really only need an apartment for sleeping and eating. but my mother couldnt live a in a small place. she's so spoiled XD
i think this is really cool. a small folding table at the foot of your bed under your bike is best for eating with two folding chairs. you can also use the chairs for extra seating
Could you tell me how many square feet the apartment is? If you feel inclined...how much do you pay a month? I'm looking to move to NYC and this apartment is exactly how I pictured mine. Thanks!
wow it is almost a big a Jerry Seinfelds place. I can see why you dont have a cat, a litter box would only clutter the place up. As for spending the night I guess we better save some money up for the Waldorf...I don't suppose you have enough room for a family of 5. We all love it good job and stay safe. We love ya down here in da country!!! Alabama

The Upper East Side is NOT the priciest are to live in Manhattan, in fact it's one of the cheapest places to live. Soho and the Village are the most expensive.
Brie217 3 years ago
No, dear Brie,
Soho London is more expensive than Soho or the Village.
.
I think even Grenwich in UK would be more expensive than the village ny.
cheers.

Upper East Side, that's the priciest areas to live at in Manhattan. Manhattan is expensive period.

I love your little space. :)
You have a good amount of storage in such a small space, and it really looks good, too.

Hey, I like the apartment.
I'm looking to move out soon, and I heard that they're good places to start that off.
Is that true? And how much do they usually go for?
CJ5436 3 years ago
The entire apartment is the size of a closet lol.

I've always wanted a tall, blue room, ever since I was a kid. Now I have a studio and can't figure out how to get a bed in with my sofa. I need your expertise. Your place is lovely. Let's trade. It would, however, require a cross-country move.

do you have a bathroom?
this1kid420 3 years ago
I totally forgot about the bathroom during the tour, but yes I do have a bathroom. As soon as i open the door and walk in, there is a door to the right. Its a decent size bathroom with a full shower/tub, toilet, sink, and a little place to stand.

Jrradaphil 3 years ago
Use craigslist to find prices of apartments in different neighborhoods, its the best place to find that information.

Thank you for the tour. I love the blue walls! I am moving into a studio, and looking for ideas. Nice place. Take Care.

The blue looks too dark for such a small place, but it's a pretty nice place.

I've been trying to get ideas on how to better use the space in my own tiny apartment and I never thought to look on YT!
Thank you for the tour. Your place is just gorgeous.

i'd love to live in nyc, but it's so expensive for a small place! i really don't care about living in a small place because in nyc you really only need an apartment for sleeping and eating. but my mother couldnt live a in a small place. she's so spoiled XD
whoaGirl12 4 years ago
i think this is really cool. a small folding table at the foot of your bed under your bike is best for eating with two folding chairs. you can also use the chairs for extra seating

Could you tell me how many square feet the apartment is? If you feel inclined...how much do you pay a month? I'm looking to move to NYC and this apartment is exactly how I pictured mine. Thanks!

to buy it may need 300000 I think,if it locats in upper west
liodun1208 4 years ago
wow it is almost a big a Jerry Seinfelds place. I can see why you dont have a cat, a litter box would only clutter the place up. As for spending the night I guess we better save some money up for the Waldorf...I don't suppose you have enough room for a family of 5. We all love it good job and stay safe. We love ya down here in da country!!! Alabama
