This flick already has a sense of humor of it's own, .. it's a PARODY, right? And, I dare say, it's OWN jokes absolutely BEAT YOUR'S into the ground you stupid cretin !
That "initiation rite" at 4:46 is actually kind of similar to russian roullette ( sticking their arm in a random hole in a log and risking getting stung by that scorkion-like creature, .. same basic principle there ).
Oh, and it looks to me like they were going for a kind of nazi feel with the villains in this film, .. with the logo and how they're marching at 1:56 .
I LOVE this movie. It's like a comic book come to life. Plus, the Queen soundtrack is fucking awesome!! I have the "Saviour of the Universe Edition." They should never remake this movie more serious. It's a treasure as is.
is that jolina joly or whatever her name is?, she must been a teen!. sounds like jeremy irons under v mask?, ive never seen vis movie, but i remenber it coming out n queen doing v sountrack.
@richtensail Sam Jones as Flash Gordon, Melody Anderson as Dale, Topol as Zarkov, Ornella Muti as Princess Aura, Peter Wyngarde (Department S, Jason King) as Klytus (under the mask). Timothy Dalton, Brian Blessed, Richard O'Brien and Max Von Sydow you probably know already.
The set design and particularly the costume design (Donati i think) are visually stunning and simply beautiful.
I wonder if Lucas knicked the Ewoks/Endor idea from Flash Gordon's Arborea...it certainly looks that way.
I prefer this to Star Wars...any day of the week...as this film does not take itself too seriously. (i think that is where the Star Wars series goes wrong imo).
One of the best 'comic book' sci-fi movies ever made.
I saw this film at the cinema. It's better than Starwars! I still have the poster and LP. The Bally F.G. Pinball has stunning artwork by Kevin O'Conner and sound based on the film. Recently, Brian Blessed presented "Have I got News for you" (topical UK quiz) and roared his line "Gordon's Alive!" about Gordon Brown. If you like this you should look at BBC sci fi Blake's 7 which was on at this time. A group of outlaws oppose the ruthless military dictator Servalan, a similar woman to Kala!
man these videos are awesome, and by the way I think that that nostalgia critic dude has totally copied your act, he is reviewing the exact same movies as you, but this is great
his method is WAY different, and its just with alot of these 70's and 80's movies being broguht back these classic "Make toys or heroes into bad movies" are being brought up (Might I also add that nostalgic critic did the review of Heman movie before GMEM) I like both of their styles, and they both rock! And might I add, this movie was "Queen The Musical"
eh, either way nostalgic if anything copies AVGN since they both have that vein popping style, which even then that is a stretch. I like em all honestly
I love Flash Gordon, and I love Dr. Black and The Greatest Movie Ever Made. However, I didn't love this video. It just wasn't up to your usual standards. I think smiled a few times, but this one never actually made me laugh out loud as your previous vids have.
I look forward to the next one though. They can't all be solid gold like Eragon.
Great one, that movie's a real favorite of mine too! There're just too many points of pure awesome to count, from the soundtrack by Queen, to Brian Blessed's... enthusiastic performance, to the fact that the mind behind so much of the classic '60s Batman show wrote it, and of course providing more evidence that any movie that has Timothy Dalton with a 'tache is absolute solid gold (see also Rocketeer and Hot Fuzz)! Personally, I'll take this over Star Wars any day, great tribute to it!

Brian Blessed (Hawk guy) wasn't actually in 300, he lost the part to Gerard Butler.

Yeah @5:15 I was thinking the same thing. In fact, I'm surprised the hands hadn't started feeling her up during that scene.

It's true. Aliens can't resist white women. It's also been demonstrated in Robot Monster and Krull.
