I don't know what some of you are saying. This song is fantastic and way better than Meat Loaf. Meat Loaf is great in his own right. This song is way better than his version.

i'm afraid that I have to agree with others. The version performed by Meat Loaf is *so much* better.

And it *was* released before the cast recording ~ 12 songs were released on a 1998 album recorded by professional musicians, including Meat Loaf, Bonnie Tyler, The Everly Brothers, Boyzone, etc.

its not, you can here it in the voice, he cant vibrato properly and also listen to the way he hits thet notes, he goes to to high on the ending notes. im a large meatloaf fan. although im 14 its easy to tell this is steve steinmans

*SPOILER ALERT* ok, escaped convict flees to the town, whilst a family mourns there mother in the church. then the oldest daughter in the family (swallow) finds the guy in her barn. He is startled and when she asks him who he is he says Jesus Christ. SHe brings him food and cares for him while the rest of the town is searching for him. Then the guy asks her to fetch a package at the train station (it has a gun in it)Then he regrets sending her, realizig he loves her. He burns down the barn. end
