Overpopulation is an excuse that hunters use to justify their desire to kill things for sport, but it's not a very good excuse. Nature finds a way of balancing itself, and there's no reason for us to interfere beyond protecting our own interests (agriculture, public safety, etc). That being said, idc really if people shoot animals. Fun is fun. Just don't pretend its something else.
