I think that the radio stations especially the US stations should start playing Edwin in their reperatoire and point out the musical rip=off. I also think that the media andd the power-brokers of the US should start to treat Canadians with more respect, and admit that per-capita we are smarter, nicer, less-violent, less racist, our armies ALWAYS outdo their US counter-parts ALWAYS!!! and MOST importantly....we breed far superior HOCKEY PLAYERS!lol.ohya, wearejustplaintougherbecauseof ourclimate!!
It's frightening enough that Edwin doesn't have as much notice in the States as he does in his native Canada, isn't it? This should have been pulled out in front of Timbaland and OneRepublic.
before commenting you need to look to see who owns a song ...did timbaland buy the music....? Music is layered... some artists write their own lyrics but use someone elses song.... I am not saying it isnt a rip off ...but I dont know.
abercrombie U did a great job, and as far as exact meanings of mashup, U are right it is whatever U want it to be, The important thing is that we should all ask ourselves..WHY did one republic make kazillions$ off of a COPY, when it was edwin who made the music work first. MARKETING? OR....could it be that CANADIANS always get the short end of the stick where americans are concerned.
Edwin is just as good a singer and IMO he is better looking than one R. He deserves to have ALIVE played on-air
Um Edwin is rumored to have "issues" dont know if that is true but what is true is everyone likes working with Timbarland and speaking from experience...that helps., Also Canadian talent has a huge leg up with Can con laws and the fact that in our little country we have world class studios, promotion teams, etc etc. Look how many World famous Canadians there are compared to world famous people from ohio (ok it is half the size but you get my point)
Pretty cool, but you're only playing the two tracks together. A mashup is when you combine the songs, making the parts fit in place of another song and making it blend in nicely, sometimes when doing an amazing job it gets a new perspective of the two songs together. Good luck with future mashups!
I disagree. The idea of a mashup, IMO, is to play to songs so that it forms one song. How you accomplish that is really up to the person creating the mashup.
I thought of Apologize when I was listening to Alive by Edwin, and I thought "Edwin was totally ripped off."

I am not crazy after all. I said to the mrs. that Apologize sounded like Alive by Edwin. I am glad this was mixed. ;-)

I actually think this is a pretty awesome mashup -- but then, what do I know?
I wondered why I immediately fell in love with "Apologize". It's almost IDENTICAL to "Alive". Hmmmm. I just didn't put the two together ...

I was wondering why Apologize sounded so familiar!

i think u did this wrong :( isnt a mash up when u put the 2 songs together to work together not just over lap the 2?
like have edwins verse and then One R chorus
or like have half of each verse then half of each chorus
be creative with it ^.^
