But really, if you look at Reagan's address to the nation concerning the disaster, you can tell that he's being very serious and offering his empathy to the family and the nation. He didn't try to sugarcoat anything. He let the citizens know, "Hey, we've encountered a devastating problem."
Shuttle flights resume the year I was born. I remember the second shuttle disaster.
