Okay dumb asses, it's between a Mazda and Honda... Fuck if you're going to suggest a car this has nothing to do with the video, suggest one that is worth it.
Mazda was rated higher than Honda for reliability in the latest consumer report. Honda has a timing belt which needs replacing for $500.00,mazda has a chain that never needs replacing. Synthetic oil change for mazda every 8000 km for $40.00. How much does Honda charge? Hondas are nice but mazdas are fun.
@tigeroak My Accord coupe has a timing chain.. They have since the early 2 thousands (02 i believe). A v6 with a 6 speed and leather seats killer factory stereo 16 inch alloys great handling on Michelin tires and all the electronic toys is just as fun to me. Massive room in the back seats and trunk space the Mafia would die for. However I still do own my Miata though for kicks... Now thats a good Mazda !
@footballstar227 It was proven that an American built Hondas have more American parts in it, Toyota as well, (see Consumer Reports) The reason for this is because of the lobby groups you guys like to sick on foreign companies to give American companies an edge. Buy American .....Buy American Japanese,.. Sorry just stating the facts, Check it out
to be honest i've seen a 1.5 litre vtec honda smoked a car that runs 2 litre engine on track.....in terms of performance......i thinks it's honda rulezzzzz........
We don't get that Honda in North America (which is too bad because hatchbacks rule).
My 2004 Mazda 3 is a fun car to drive but has a LOT of rust and has had a number of annoying things go wrong with it. Probably a mistake to buy a first-year car, but it has tainted my experience of Mazdas. My parents' 2002 Acura RSX (also a first-year car) has been much more reliable...so take that for what it's worth.
and remember that north american standars of safety are very exigent...
and that 2 models are no american vers. i can asure you that so stop posting videos without all the information THE JAPANESE VERS. ARE LESS SAFETY THAT AMERICAN VER ALWAYS REMEMBER THAT MY AMIGO
my frie nd what do you spect 20000 dollar vehicle check the mercedesbenz c200 crash test its almos the same result and all automovile company in the world said that above 55 kms they dont asure you that the airbag or seatbelt
gona save your life .....and your right man those two model are dangerous.
Civic, hands down. I owned a 93' Civic Si that made it 350,000kms without needing any major repairs. My sister now has it well over 400,000kms. My 2002 Mazda Protege5 is at 200,000kms and it rotting right through and just bombed an emissions test.
@HellaStellaVella that I believe lol... Mine passed emissions with FLYING colors with 225K on the clock... and no rust anywhere to be found! Even the underbody and original exhaust are mint...
Honda Civic because Mazdas in my opinion aren't as reliable...and don't say I dont know what I'm talking about because I own both and Mazda is stupidly reliable but Honda has the edge
@omguregood You may think I don't know what I am talking about but that is your opinion and just because my knowledge defeats your opinion doesn't mean you should shove your OPINION into everybody's faces like it is a "FACT" to hope people listen to you.
@RoRcrashslave props to that -- I own an '02 Civic with nearly 232,000 km (144,000 miles) on it, the car being nearly 10 years old, and it runs/drives like a champ! Body is mint, too! I will probably pass it on to my younger brother...
@RoRcrashslave heck, I'll even swap engines if I have to! though I know I probably won't... I just do the oil changes religiously and don't abuse it (like red-line it), and it STILL purrs like a kitten!
@xXSCARFACE1983Xx Oh! I don't know what I am talking about? I just said that I own both and they are very reliable but I have had better luck with Hondas. My opinion/knowledge is not something you should put your 2 cents on.
@RoRcrashslave Honda has 6 of the 20 worst vehicles on carcomplaints, bad transmissions. Mazda is not in that list. Check out the website,I was shocked at how poorly Hondas were rated.
@RoRcrashslave Its not hte websites opinion, all the complaints are sent in by owners. But I think you are right. I've had ok luck with the hondas I owned.
@tigeroak I have been to those "supposed" car reliability sites (there are hundreds of them), Unless it says Edmonds, JD Powers, Consumer Reports Then avoid these fake sites, it's like they say, Don't believe everything you read.
@daniel0731ex I have owned the Mazda Protege and a Mazda MPV the Mazda Protege was reliable but the 2006 Mazda MPV is having problems now. Do you know if the MPV has american parts?
Actaully, my father owns a MPV too, and he had to replace the entire engine 4 years ago (the car was made in 2000). In fact, this is the first time when we heard that Ford manufactures the engine for Mazda.
Ford and Mazda are business partners, sorta; they even share the same chasis on the majority of their models (ex: Fiesta and Mazda2, Focus and Mazda3, etc)
@RoRcrashslave Right ON ! I had a protege 5 with bad ECM, peeling paint , premature rust (I washed the undercarriage often), ViICS screw issue (in which the butterfly valve screws destroy the head and feed through the engine). Poorly designed rear stabilizer bushings. Poor EGR design, Bad brake wheel sensors, bad drivers side window fit , all below 80,000km . The Mazda Of Canada dealer didn't cover half of this.. I LOVE My Accord v6 6 Speed Not 1 problem and 90,000km.! Honda Power of Dreams!
@willyhuber... I agree with you...very biased crash results... because A: They were tested by two different institutes (IIHS and EuroNCAP) and B: The cars are driven differently (one in which the steering wheels are different and that you must drive on different sides of the roads...) So @autoinsurancespy should come respond to me when he has both IIHS test and/or both EuroNCAP tests... very very biased
This "test" evaluation doesn't make any sense for a choice in 2010. The new Mazda's score 5* NCAP. They've done a great lot about safety the last years.
Great cars, powerful, nice looking and nowadays also safe. I'd go for Mazda now, 100%
Listen I've had plenty of hondas but am in love with my mazda 3 hatch, I think holds more value, better looking just about everything but gas, that one I say civic prolly has over a mazda3 hatch
I dont undersatand the meaning of this ?? The two cars is 5 star cars i dont understand why you have to choоse by this video? Choos the car you like more and the honda is much more pretty :)
@ignatzRat Did you get a Civic? Hope your engine block doesnt crack anytime soon. Seriously, in this day and age, who the hell still doesnt know how to cast a proper engine block? oh honda, thats right lol... open, current recall
@youngbleeb Accord 3.0 vtec no issues yet and good dealership support.. The Mazda dealership was a total pain. VICS screw problem with the Mazda where the screws from the butterfly valves on the intake are fed through the engine and ruined the head scoring the sidewalls and knocking the hell out of the piston tops and knocking out the egr valve on the way out. There was a recall in the States but Canada wouldn't honour it. That and about 20 other problems (peeling paint etc) sold it at 70,000k
@ignatzRat Fair enough. Honda dealers around here rip people off left and right, because they ride on Honda's 1980's reputation fo realiability. They havent been reliable since 96. I hope your auto transmission holds up. Serious problems with the V6 model trans burning out internal clutches due to a defective pressure switch and improper lubrication of the 3rd gear clutch. Best of luck!
@youngbleeb Yah I know that!, I fought more with Mazda of Canada then I care to count (Rude desk people too!). Support is an important thing when it comes to resolving issues like these. I got the 6 speed.. But Its good to know , My friend has an automatic thanks!
@ignatzRat Okay. My only point was that all automakers have defects, and in this case, Honda has more, and more severe ones. Everyone wants to visit their dealerships the least amount of times, and going for Honda isn't really constructive in that respect. :p
@youngbleeb Very true.... but when you do have a good dealership, good warranty compliance and (I would guess) a certain amount of good luck with a brand of car then you really do support that product. My last Honda li had 14 years and I sold it to my Nephew... it's still going strong. BTW I do still drive a Mazda B3000 and I also have a 89 Miata .. I won't let the dealer touch those .. The Miata IS my favorite car of all to drive...parts are expensive though, So I buy aftermarket
Being that that year Mazda was built on a Volvo chassis and Volvo's are renowned for their safety I would go with the Mazda, matter a fact I did go with the mazda and couln't be more happy with it.
No more Mazda for me Thanks! I bought one and got ripped off from my dealer and Mazda of Canada.. A Protege 5 with brake sensor problems, Premature rusting, peeling paint, rear stabilizer bar bushing failure ,bad EGR , Bad Idle, VICS screw problem (feeds screws through the engine , Mazda had recall they wouldn't honor )
Plus ECM failure, squeaking power windows all at below the 80,000km mark. I do however still own my older Miata (I repair that one myself)
Did somebody's Daddy buy them a Mazda 3? Now you want to show the world how much better you are than them? Well, Mazda is trash compared to Honda. End of story.
@muiecyrus LOL!!! I knew I'd get someone on that one! I do not own a honda, but I would because I'm a mechanic. And all car manufacture's had trouble with their paint at one time or another. Never seen one of those white Mazda MPV's with almost all the paint peeled off of it? White's the easiest one's to see but yeah mazda has crap pain too. And a Honda will out last a mazda. Almost always. (Depending on the driver) This I just know, since I'm a mechanic.
At least, the honda test protected his head... They are concentrate on security In the Car, and not the damage give. Look at the dummie's head in the mazda test :S

The civics from 2006 have drum brakes in the back.
That's the 80's technology !
I have a mazda 3 and i must say i'm not very proud of it, but trust me ... 3 > civic ( comparing these two because they are in the same class)
Anyway both mazda and honda suck. Cheap plastic rattles , paint sucks also, very uncomfortable seats. You get what you pay for.
