This band is so great...I only recently discovered them. I'm so amazed at how so many awesome bands never "made it" in the States. Oye. Mountain, Humble Pie, and now SAHB play the never-ending Most Underrated Bands Ever Tour in my mind. Zal, Steve Marriot, and Leslie West...you guys are forever my favorite guitar players. I don't give a s**t about Rolling Stone's 100 Greatest Guitarist List. Any list without you guys ain't no list worth anything.
my dad showed me these guys.he told me this is where kiss got some of their act from...i remember gene simmons said in an interview that SAHB were an influence on him.as my dad always puts it...i'm trying to learn you something.
I love this song. I love the performance too, the way they menace the crowd, Satanic grins on their faces. Zal in particular is scary as hell, demented. Awsome =D
shock and awe ! these guys were into pleasing themselves first and the audience second and it shows, the people who didn't apppreciate then won't appreciate now, it's too real
Ummm....I'm forty. A rock fan all my life. Never heard of these dudes until a week ago. I can't believe I missed out on this bad ass stuff for so long. I love this so much. That guitar player is like some freak space 1999 mad scientist. He might be the coolest guitar player these eyes have ever seen.

What a great video that captures the essence of the band. Always saw them in the 70s whenever they were in London. Even became a member of the Marquee club to be able to buy advance tickets to the SAHB without Alex 'Fourplay' gig and first in line, first in the door got us to see them finishing their sound check. Zal sans makeup for the first time, brilliant. Listen out for my whistles on their live album at the Rainbow.
I can see how K.I.S.S., ripped these guys off... Think Gene Simmons posture on stage, the makeup, etc... No question about it.....They took it to a whole new level!
Alex was the only old school musician that the Sex Pistols trusted and respected. He was close to becoming their manager,at one point,John and Sid for,Paul and Steve, against.Bet they had wished in favor of old Uncle Al,now...
I had the chance to see them at the Hammy O in the mid 1970's with my brother, who was a big SAHB freak but I was 13, obsessed with football and didn't want to go to some concert- what a fucking idiot.
After the punk fallout- I got into my Brothers old SAHB albums in the early 80's and realized what a mistake I'd made.
I saw them in Melbourne a few years back with Max on vocals just before Zal left but it just wasn't the same.
Had never heard of this band before - how absolutely brilliant they were!!! It really looks as if Gene Simmons from Kiss was influenced by the guitarist with face makeup on in this band, with the "tongue thing".

Some poor spaced out hippie was listening to this watching Zal and his facial expressions while hearing that amazing guitar , Alex with his growl and laughing at the audience and were left slightly unnerved, i hope. As MrOctagon just said , "Great stuff"
Many thanks for posting this. It's sad that Alex died but in agreement with other comments, look what he has left us ,It is priceless. This band is quite simple the best band.I never get tired of the SAHB and sure I never will.
We will not see their like again, the band so tight with a great sound , look at Ted McKenna hitting the ride cymbal cracking out the rhythm with Chris Glen ,Hugh McKenna chopping out jazz and blues on keyboards, Zal Cleminson playing is effortless and tortured at the same time. Glad I saw them with Slade (who were also great) and at Reading where they stormed the crowd, I've seen the best of rock , happy if I die tomorrow.
I saw this great band quite a few times and also use to see Alex (with his wife) strolling around the Marquee. I remember those because they were the nights Lemmy would hog the Pinball M/C (Don't think he ever lost)
Okay...at 1:43 and 2:45...is that a young male or a really flatchested female or WHAT??? Anyone know??? No wonder Zal and Alex are leering at something in the crowd @ 2:22 thru 2:28...they must be thinking the same thing!
Happy 62nd Birthday, Alistair Cleminson 5/4/11! You are still the best blasted guitarist on the planet, and this American lady still idolizes you! My only wish is that you would tour the US one more time before putting away your facepaint!
ok i am human, flesh and skin, i will die. Father why hast thou forgave me, here i said it. if you are my father i am your sun. I know only the beauty of birth, your bone is rock. Yes i could face the cross but could you/./?
Its all been said before but take it from someone who was there, this was the tighest, most original, most watchable, most intelligent and LOUDEST band of the 1970s. I definitely owe my hearing loss in later life to Zal (the UKs most underrated guitar talent!) but it was well worth it.
The late great Bon Scott was a big fan of alex harvey and admitted to being very influenced by him,,,,,,, maybe he just meant copied. we'll never know

Good for you and me and anyone else out there who likes Hawkwind. (And what a relief to read a post here that isn't oozing with obscenity and hatred. I'm not going to bother reading down this thread to see how Angus and Salguine ended up at each other's throats.) I must say, though, that Hawkwind's music, for me, is a bit uneven. But, hey, they've been at it so long that you can't expect every recording to be top shelf.
@AngusShanks If ABBA is all you know about Scandinavian rock & roll, then what you think isn't worth paying attention to anyway. Try The Hellacopters, The Hives, Sahara Hotnights, The Blue Van, The Lovethugs, The Flaming Sideburns, Sigur Ros, The Raveonettes, The Soundtrack of Our Lives, The Rhinos...all Scandinavians. If you can't make the effort to dig beyond the top 40, then don't bitch. So ABBA makes you vomit. Know what makes ME vomit? People who wave their ignorance like a fucking flag.
I'm sure you do Mr One Up. Are all of them complete shit Scando albums? Go suck some Viking cock. This is a SAHB forum. Go hang with some Swede cock somewhere else you maggot.
@AngusShanks What the fuck is wrong with you, you stupid cunt? What the motherfucking fuck is wrong with you? Were you gang-raped by a pack of Swedish sailors, and your shitty attitude is only a failing attempt to cover the self-hatred you feel because deep down you enjoyed it? Alex Harvey would smack the shit out of you. Why don't you go out to the mailbox—I bet your next issue of Little Jive-Ass Punk Bitch Quarterly is there.
Never been to Sweden, so it would be impossible to be gang raped by Swedes. You are the one in love with them and their shitty music. Alex and I would have gotten along quite well. Two Scots. You and your Swede faggot bros would have gotten along quite well too I bet. Now go spin your Roxette albums/CD's.
Look at the live festival stuff on the BBC at the Moment and all the people going mad over some really bland or unoriginal stuff and here's SAHB playing some really great stuff to a load of comatose Scandinavians - enough to make one weep!! See their smiles - great
SAHB really were supreme live - thanks for posting
No band has ever been more in control of their stage than this one. And no singer in more control of his band. God bless you Alex and your very sensational band. You guys were the BEST.
love them since ever - more than 30yrs now ..... he was so fucking good on stage and framed and next are in my LP collection in the top 10 and the faith heeler, midnight moses and the hammer song between my favourites songs... they are really sensational!
Absolutely brilliant......the whole thing from the narrow spot light opening ,through the Tennant can washing of hands..........Ruined me for seeing any one live.........Anthem still give me goosebump....he was streets ahead of them...both in time and performance
yea, the stage used to so high, and when he did the narrow spot light during the song Framed. He used to kneel on the stage and say "I did not do anything" One voice from the audience poped up and said
I just discovered this band this morning. I can't understand how I never heard of them. I'm totally obsessed with them now. The greatest band nobody ever heard of!
there's a great BBC session version of this from i think 1979 with his "new" (mafia stole my geetar) band, anyone know where i can find that? also didnt he do a single of this in the late '60s before the SAHB, love to hear that too
esta musica es solo para quienes saben apreciar el buen rock es su estilo mas exotico... wonderful music.. es una de las songs que me levantan a bailar cuando estoy frente a la PC
Alex' MasterClass in taking a largely indifferent crowd by the throat and challenging them to enjoy themselves. By the time the band stormed through Framed they had the crowd on their feet and baying for more. Blistering version of Amos Moses tho'.
A Great track from one of the best bands of all time!!!!!!!! We are really inspired by these guys and would love your opinion on our material, any feedback would be really appreciated, keep on rocking man
An amazing by one of the greatest bands of all time!!! We are really inspired by these guys, and would love your opinion on our material, any feedback would be greatly appreciated, keep on rocking man!!

Scandinavians know fuck all about good music anyhow. Fucking ABBA is their greatest contribution to music and they make me vomit.
AngusShanks 1 year ago
Salguine 1 year ago
@Salguine I own the Soundtrack of Our Lives. The rest of those acts blow hard. Thanks for the music lesson you fucktard.
AngusShanks 1 year ago
@AngusShanks i doubt you know more than one or two of them. Fucktard.

@Salguine I own more than 2 thousand LPs alone. No idea about CDs. Go suck your mother's dick you stupid cunt.
AngusShanks 1 year ago
@AngusShanks Well, I have 17,500 LPs and a little over 9,000 CDs, dickweed. So what? So fucking what?
Salguine 1 year ago
@Salguine
I'm sure you do Mr One Up. Are all of them complete shit Scando albums? Go suck some Viking cock. This is a SAHB forum. Go hang with some Swede cock somewhere else you maggot.
AngusShanks 1 year ago
@AngusShanks What the fuck is wrong with you, you stupid cunt? What the motherfucking fuck is wrong with you? Were you gang-raped by a pack of Swedish sailors, and your shitty attitude is only a failing attempt to cover the self-hatred you feel because deep down you enjoyed it? Alex Harvey would smack the shit out of you. Why don't you go out to the mailbox—I bet your next issue of Little Jive-Ass Punk Bitch Quarterly is there.
Salguine 1 year ago
@Salguine

@stivis436
yea, the stage used to so high, and when he did the narrow spot light during the song Framed. He used to kneel on the stage and say "I did not do anything" One voice from the audience poped up and said
"Aye ye did, ye shaged my sister" PMSL.

Gene Simmons acknowledges that Zal Cleminson was one of his greatest inspirations; at 2:08 you'll see why.
I love Alex's expression at 1:27 when he sees that the audience are just not gonna get it.

Alex' MasterClass in taking a largely indifferent crowd by the throat and challenging them to enjoy themselves. By the time the band stormed through Framed they had the crowd on their feet and baying for more. Blistering version of Amos Moses tho'.
Dammit I miss these guys.

@KennyKen2009 what were you doing in the Kentish woods? No, sorry; I'd best not ask. I hope it was a fulfilling experience for both of you, and if you reciprocated knowledge of a cool band, then all the best.
