its funny that m2k has been playing tournament melee longer then most any player but has never been considered the best player. He's always sooo close to being champion with only 1 or 2 players consistently beating him.

After KDJ down throwed or dash attacked M2K in this match he often just stood there instead of continuing his combo, what was up with that? He wasn't doing that while he was fighting M2K's marth.

kdj was messing up edgeguards and making mistakes, m2k was playing really really cautious and not very smart, like nairing and then rolling away immediately again

if fox doesnt camp this immidietly becomes a much worse matchup for fox. sheik is way better then most other chars at punishing fox's approach. her tilts go through all of his arials.

when fox camps he wants you to approach because he has advantage in that situation. he uses lasers as a way of saying "hey im right here come and make me stop" and KDJ sees that as a bait and a trap (which is it). he therefore tries to NOT approach by laying under the lasers, which didnt work. he was then forced to approach and got grabbed and killed.

"can" and "will" are very different. a perfect fox could perfectly ledge stall with almost no fear of danger (only possible being someone stealing the ledge, which is hard cause his upb does dmg), but no fox does this. you dont play the game over what someone "could" do to you, but rather what they "will" do. KDJ was testing M2K, because the lasers only hit if they are timed perfectly.

false. shdl has 3 heights (aka 3 frames of leeway after jump or else 2nd laser wont go). perfect and possibly 2nd frame lasers will miss shiek and 3rd frame will hit. watch when KDJ crouches, he goes under the first one until m2k makes it lower.

KDJ made so many weird mistakes (he tries to counter SHDL with crouching!?!?), but he still managed to get to one stock.

the lasering at the end is what we call "playing it smart." It was completely legit and it's KDJ's fault for not doing something about it.

i wouldnt say it was his fault since it is a hard tactic to stop sometimes but i agree that it is a legit strat and it can be used when needed

@Protoguy1 it was playing it smart but its not like it was kdj's fault for not doing something about it its the matchup. Fox's short hop nair approach has more range than any of shieks attacks so its hard for a shiek to approach, so for a fox it makes it easy for him to rack up damage. And thats why fox has the advantage.

Of course it was. If you watch, KDJ didn't even try to approach. Given the projectile disadvantage in the match-up, it's simple that when Sheik is down she has to approach, especially on a stage like FD that doesn't allow platform camping (which Fox does better anyways).

i have to admit, i do think he did camp at the end. but thats not really a bad thing its not like kdj did anything about it. m2k had the same approach at first with two lives to one, but kdj started punishing for it so he stopped. he brought the idea back for his last stock and it worked that time. camping or not (it was camping) smart move i say.

I thought Shiek was at disadvantage in this match... KDJ proved I was wrong.

It's a pity though he got lasered so much in the end. If he had gone closer to Fox, he might have won.
