I love bioware's ME series but not even half of how much I love kotor series. And I think most kotor fans agree with me. Everytime I installed kotor or kotor II in my pc, I will play it over and over again for about 10 times or more. While I will uninstall ME after playing twice or less.
That show how much fun is kotor series. And bioware or ea or lucas or whatever is stupid to kill this series by making TOR.
They should've made an MMO abou the Mandalorian Wars. You are a Jedi, Sith, Mandalorian, Smuggler, Artisan, etc. and you fight in all the battles, like Malachor. You can be a Jedi and choose to join Revan or not. It would be epic. I have no idea what's going on in SWTOR. That is a story we wanted to know more about. Plus the KotOR universe was big enough to make an MMO about these things.
I don't mind that it's going to be TOR instead of KOTOR 3, what I mind is the fact that it's going to be unplayable for me since my laptop can't run it and the fact that you have to keep paying subscription even after you've bought the game. The fact that half if not more of KOTORs fanbase who are console gamers are being cut off from the game if they can't run it or simply don't want to have to keep paying for it is where Bioware really failed. Moving everything to PC.

You know what would be cool? If Bioware had an event where fans from the KOTOR games would be able to design their own character/plot ideas, and send them in and have Bioware use the best ones for the next game. That would be awsome, and make the fans feel like they were part of the making of the game.
I think there will be kotor 3. Look how long it took for lucas to do episodes 1 2 and 3. Also look at fallout 3. It took a long time before they made it. With all the people talking about how they want a kotor 3 I don't think they'll leave it to an mmo that basically has nothing to do with the story. PS tor is NOT kotor3. I had a whole vision for kotor 3 were you were supposed to gather forces and go and help revan and the exile fight the sith. I mean the signs were all there. Why would revan keep the republic together, and the mandalorians, and then the exile had the makings of a new jedi order. It would have been a battle of epic proportions. @pittbd69 amen brother, kotor 1 and 2 will ALWAYS have a special place in my heart. Just like some people grew up playing the original zelda games, i grew up as a little kid playing these games. THESE are the games that weren't just games, they were motherF$@#kin inspirations. this game is what brought me to scifi and space and a scholarship to study astrophysics and chemistry. Maybe when im older and get kotor 3 i will finally have some closure to games of my childhood........
You should know the game looks a LOT better than 2008, theres been lots of updates. I look foreward to playing an MMO where I have 20+hours of gameplay and story line for my specific class than a KOTOR 3. BTW if you read the SWTOR website storyline they talk about what happens to Revan and The Exile. I like Revan as much as the next jedi/sith but you fangirls of Revan are extreme Im glad Bioware made this game. Its a smart move. Let the flame war begin ;)

@RMGeneral At first yes, I was thinking the same but if you look at the current gameplay there are no "big ass lightsabers" it looks sleek slim and totally sexy.
@RMGeneral I can speculate what you mean but its a bit vague when you say "unrealistic" if its the way the characters look well they fixed the lightsaber Im sure they'll fix up the characters. This is why we have another year the game isnt going to be complete in a short period of time especially when there putting so much story and hard work into this game. Over 5hrs of Original music, the settings and story are beautiful, and 20+hours for each class not to mention World quests.

I feel like EA/Bioware jumped the gun way too early, they should of did a kotor 3 with a finalizing plot why? FYI i know this is posted in 2008 but there have been some serious changes and YES its 350 later and sets the timeline to "The Great War" And i am very excited. They just gotta change the graphics from "Clone Wars Cartoon" to "Actual Kick-Ass not too demanding graphics." Then i'd be happy :)

I'm REALLY hoping that this is just a money grab and that they still plan on making a KOTOR 3 that ties up the whole story, my hopes come from the fact that it's called "The Old Republic" not "The Knights of the Old Republic" I'm hoping this means thats it's just a sister game rather than a replacement for the sequal we all want. This may just be speculation and miss information, and I could be wrong and this could be just a shorter named sequal, that sadly ruins a great series.

Use google for that.. It's not that hard to find. After you play KOTOR 2 with the restored content(most of it anyway), you will realize that it could have been one the best RPG-s ever.... The way it ends makes you SCREAM at LA to make a real kOTOR 3 for god's sake. Not some childish money fishing MMO.
Excuse me but I don't wish to try to make you remove your comment and respect your opinion but I do believe that this video is quite accurate. Regardless of the graphics, the plot is pretty solid by this point and still takes place 350 years after Kotor 2 and is still a MMO RPG. Even if the graphics looked years ahead of its time the whole year diffrence and MMO concept is horrific. They even announced that no KOTOR 1 or 2 characters would be in it.

I would love to see another star wars cRPG, and i hope as you the next third KOTOR will eventually come out. We seened the latest great space game - Mass Effect, if the kotor 3 will get such awesome "interactive" dialogs and new graphics it would be extremelly great game imho. As for the TOR, well we still have a loot of time before they release it, maybe something will change in the way this mmo looks like.

Actually it is indeed over a hundred years after Kotor 2, you can look on the website. No one from Kotor 1 or 2 will be in it, you can check the desiger videos if you doubt me.

You know I think this game will be great as an MMO to play, but I don't think it will be so great as the continuation of the KOTOR series. Reason being the main characters are long dead (rather annoying since I am guessing we will not find out what happened to either of them since it is set so long after KOTOR 2).

I disagree with your first statement. Kotor isnt as popular as you think it is. At one point it may have been, but now its yesterday's news and ONLY the hardcore kotor fans still care about it. However i agree with the fact that TOR could revive the KOTOR franchise to the point where the average gamer would be more familiar to the kotor story line and that coudl theoretically make kotor 3 happen. I was hoping for just a sequel to the first two, maybe even play as Revan deep within the ranks of the Sith. Anyways they definitely could do that on 360 though, and possibly some great multiplayer playing, beat levels together, go head to head. IDK, but not this.

kotor 2 was a rip off by the way, story was not nearly as compelling and background checks on characters were a dead end .

it got rushed, so much was taken out, it had an extra planet, and hk47 bonus mission, and a final scene with a bunch of charecters, like attons death etc.
Shame really but at that time obsidian took over the project from bioware and lucas art was putting more and more pressure on them .
so they litterly took the early engine that was bugged and had to fix half of it, recycle old kotor 1 content and rapuidly make story changes because lucas was breathing down their necks .

THESE are the games that weren't just games, they were motherF$@#kin inspirations. this game is what brought me to scifi and space and a scholarship to study astrophysics and chemistry. Maybe when im older and get kotor 3 i will finally have some closure to games of my childhood........

You should know the game looks a LOT better than 2008, theres been lots of updates. I look foreward to playing an MMO where I have 20+hours of gameplay and story line for my specific class than a KOTOR 3. BTW if you read the SWTOR website storyline they talk about what happens to Revan and The Exile. I like Revan as much as the next jedi/sith but you fangirls of Revan are extreme Im glad Bioware made this game. Its a smart move. Let the flame war begin ;)

@RMGeneral I can speculate what you mean but its a bit vague when you say "unrealistic" if its the way the characters look well they fixed the lightsaber Im sure they'll fix up the characters. This is why we have another year the game isnt going to be complete in a short period of time especially when there putting so much story and hard work into this game. Over 5hrs of Original music, the settings and story are beautiful, and 20+hours for each class not to mention World quests.

I feel like EA/Bioware jumped the gun way too early, they should of did a kotor 3 with a finalizing plot why? In the plot for kotor 1,2 it was definitely leading toward a 3rd kotor with finding the real sith the real threat and finding Revan ect, they should of made the RPGMMO after kotor 3 in my books....

FYI i know this is posted in 2008 but there have been some serious changes and YES its 350 later and sets the timeline to "The Great War" And i am very excited. They just gotta change the graphics from "Clone Wars Cartoon" to "Actual Kick-Ass not too demanding graphics." Then i'd be happy :)

I'm REALLY hoping that this is just a money grab and that they still plan on making a KOTOR 3 that ties up the whole story, my hopes come from the fact that it's called "The Old Republic" not "The Knights of the Old Republic" I'm hoping this means thats it's just a sister game rather than a replacement for the sequal we all want. This may just be speculation and miss information, and I could be wrong and this could be just a shorter named sequal, that sadly ruins a great series.

Use google for that.. It's not that hard to find. After you play KOTOR 2 with the restored content(most of it anyway), you will realize that it could have been one the best RPG-s ever.... The way it ends makes you SCREAM at LA to make a real kOTOR 3 for god's sake. Not some childish money fishing MMO.

Excuse me but I don't wish to try to make you remove your comment and respect your opinion but I do believe that this video is quite accurate. Regardless of the graphics, the plot is pretty solid by this point and still takes place 350 years after Kotor 2 and is still a MMO RPG. Even if the graphics looked years ahead of its time the whole year diffrence and MMO concept is horrific. They even announced that no KOTOR 1 or 2 characters would be in it.

I would love to see another star wars cRPG, and i hope as you the next third KOTOR will eventually come out. We seened the latest great space game - Mass Effect, if the kotor 3 will get such awesome "interactive" dialogs and new graphics it would be extremelly great game imho. As for the TOR, well we still have a loot of time before they release it, maybe something will change in the way this mmo looks like.

You know I think this game will be great as an MMO to play, but I don't think it will be so great as the continuation of the KOTOR series. Reason being the main characters are long dead (rather annoying since I am guessing we will not find out what happened to either of them since it is set so long after KOTOR 2).
I mean an MMO is all fine and dandy and I'm sure will be great but... it's going to be interesting to see how they fit the last two games into this.

Its been about 5 years since the release of kotor 2. They are not making a Kotor 3 and have no intentions of doing so. At this point, no one remembers the kotor games. Only the die hard kotor fans do and Lucas Arts and Bioware aren't going to spend time, money and effort into making a game just to please a couple thousand fans. Thats why they are making TOR, to please the old fans yet still have a new game that everyone can enjoy regardless of whether they have played the first kotors.

I disagree with your first statement. Kotor isnt as popular as you think it is. At one point it may have been, but now its yesterday's news and ONLY the hardcore kotor fans still care about it. However i agree with the fact that TOR could revive the KOTOR franchise to the point where the average gamer would be more familiar to the kotor story line and that coudl theoretically make kotor 3 happen. ur all stupid do you think for 1 second swtor is gonna have anything what so ever on kotor 1,2 in it, the answer is no why cause thay suck i wanted a kotor 3 but there just using its name to get people intrested bottonline this game will die cause thay want a mmo and using kotor name, in truth if u look at the site all thay have about kotor 1 is it says revan went into the unknown and never returned but the sith empire did and that satele (who looks alot like bastila)

kotor 2 was a rip off by the way, story was not nearly as compelling and background checks on characters were a dead end .
Nihilus? just came down and decided to kick the exile? motive? character development? plot? Sion.. WTF? Treya? why did they leave her for dead? KOTOR1 had a great plot.. 2 is just firing blanks all througout the game

it got rushed, so much was taken out, it had an extra planet, and hk47 bonus mission, and a final scene with a bunch of charecters, like attons death etc.

yeah i know i've seen the missing content .
Shame really but at that time obsidian took over the project from bioware and lucas art was putting more and more pressure on them .
so they litterly took the early engine that was bugged and had to fix half of it, recycle old kotor 1 content and rapuidly make story changes because lucas was breathing down their necks .
Shame really .

hey i can conjure up the kinda like graphics of kotor 2.. i can handle a game engine . I can write stories .
Just get the community together and make our own bloody KOTOR 3 .
