this is a jump jet carrier...the Alpha flight sim carrier for FSX is the shit. Nimitz class all realistic

Personaly, i think this carrier sucks. #1, you wernt using your hook,#2, you wernt using the catapults. so, in other words, not realistic. but thats only my opinion. i still think it was a good video, but in Fsx im lookng for realism.

@shadowblade145: The Skyhawk could easily take off simply using the whole carrier deck. You don't really need the CATOBAR system for that type of plane. Heavier types such as the F/A-18 D/E/F do need it though, along with the recently retired F-14.

Also, he DOES use the arrester wires - that's the funny jerk of the plane at approx. 4:29 when it looks like it's dancing on the landing strip!! :-P

@TexFilms: Just an F.Y.I, this is a tad outdated as you do realise the F-4 Skyhawk is retired?

@NobleKorhedron That was not the F-4, that was the T-45 Goshawk rather. And no, he wasn't using his hook. He did use the arrestor wire, but it did not show his hook down. Maybe it was just FS recorder, but it's still unrealistic the way he stopped. And the skyhawk still COULD use the CATOBAR system, it was just a tad overkill.

@shadowblade145: I KNOW it COULD and for that matter, DID use it I'm just pointing out that you wouldn't really need it. The CATOBAR system was really invented to get the large amout of planes on a carrier off the deck in a reaosonable time. Otherwise in a combat situation the ships could potentially be sunk with their aircraft unlaunched!!

@shadowblade145: O.K, just an F.Y.I, I wasn't disuputing the part about it not being an F-4. I had forgotten about the advanced trainers such as the T-45. I guess I just assumed that ship was in a potential combat zone. So I assumed, rightfully so, I.M.O, that you wouldn't have trainers on a ship heading into a combat zone!!

Yea it was a lot of fun! This was my first attempted at filming a multiplayer session. The server is up every weekend and we usually meet in the afternoon (US Time) on Saturday.

You can't launch off this carrier so like all others, it's just eye candy and no point of landing when you have to BS takeoff, meaning no working CATS and dropping off deck about 20 feet after takeoff. Really what's the point. Witch I'm guessing with limitations in FSX you can't make it luanchable, knowing this is the MAIN thing to carrier operation and the funnest part why make something a leave that part out. Carrier looks good but like all others it a dud that offers 50%.

Was never talking about the video, as always Tex's vid are always good. I was talking about the Carrier. And will say again in hope you understand. Yes it is fun to land on a carrier in FS. But launching off is something that is always missed. I need not join the NAVY, that's just a dumb suggestion. And it's also dumb to simulate carrier takeoff by just flying off the deck. This video is cool 100% but the carrier only gives you 50% the the experience.

I understand you, too. Maybe Tex modified the aircraft parameters to get unrealistic performances. But I also don't think that this makes it a bad video. A new, funny idea. Thanks for this video.

Actually I didn't modify any aircraft. I did however speed up some of the clips in the video for effect. We were all laughing and having a good time making this one, especially watching the planes drop after take-off, then Sammy gets the idea to attempt a 747 landing..lol!! xD

Thanks for watching. I understand your frustration about the catapults not working. On the other hand, launching off the deck is rather mundane compared to landing it, so I am happy just to have a carrier which works in MP where someone can drive it allowing other people to land on it at the same time. It's a lot of fun, regardless if the catapults work or not. :D

3.4 Ghz duel core, 2GB RAM, 8800 Nvidia GTX. The graphics actually aren't maxed out, I turned them down a bit for multiplayer.
