@melodysymphonystar I don't think so. No Line on the Horizon (2009) wasn't really the success of the year. Take The Resistance (Muse, 2009), for example, and I'm sure Muse beat them, worldwide selling speaking.
My Lord those ranges that Matt takes during the intro are just fucking amazing and the smile on his face when The Edge comes on the stage is just the best moment of the concert for me.When U2 performed it this year I missed Matt's vocal ranges in the beginning ;)
@tzelpida1977 So let me get this straight, being an American... Muse was playing Saturday and U2 was going to play Friday, meaning Muse is the bigger Glastonbury act? Wow, in America Muse was opening for U2. That's great they got the bigger spot than U2 did! And U2 had never played Glastonbury!
@tzelpida1977 But before the back injury, U2 was scheduled to play Friday, and Muse was booked for Sat. That is a huge compliment to Muse considering Eavis was stating that U2 was going to make it the biggest festival ever... I guess Eavis also knew that Muse had a larger and more passionate fanbase than U2.
@tzelpida1977 The big reason I want to move to Europe and get out of America is that people's love for good music is so much better over there, even in Greece where you are... I hate being around a bunch of idiots when it comes to music.
@tzelpida1977 Your the second Greek who's told me to go to a different country, ha ha. I agree, Europe has good taste in many other things compared to Americans... and it's the real stuff, not the superficial stuff like cars and clothes.
@BezerkoTheCow You are wrong... Muse sold out Wembley twice... and tickets sold like hotcakes... U2 would not have been able to do two straight dates at Wembley... and just take a look at how much more excited Muse fans get in conert than U2's fans. It's not even close.
@mrscry Did U2 not just sell out the highest grossing tour of all time? Yea I think they did. They played to over 7 million fans in about 100 shows. That's an average of 70 000 per show. I very highly doubt Muse could even dream of doing that. As for wembley stadium? they played that stadium on their 360 tour (most recent tour), and set a new attendance record in the process (88 000+).
@BezerkoTheCow In fact, they actually played Wembley back to back and did the same figure for the 2nd show. U2 has been around for a long time and there's a reason for that. Not many bands can still sellout every single stadium show 35+ years into their existence.
@BezerkoTheCow I didn't know U2 did back-to-back at Wembley. I was referring to UK fans who attend Glastonbury when I put Muse ahead of U2 in fanbase... I know worldwide U2 wins, but I think Muse has the edge iin passion and number of people who show up in the UK. And it's pretty close right now in a lot of other countries.
@grussell900 You can't say that ! U2 is so different of Muse ! The Edge is one of the best guitarist ever, and it's because his music style is the alternative rock, the style of U2 ! If he had played in Muse, his guitar game'll be very different !! it's logically !
i was absolutley chuffed when this came on as u2 didnt come to glasto 2010 because bono had a back injury, i was delighted, my fave band playing wit my 2nd face bands guitarist! i was dancing like never before, thank you edge and muse for doing this for us!
@44jogey hmmm, well reading was easily better because of the whole origins of symmetry stage set which was a one off, unlike this was the same as every other of there tour that yeea (except this song ofcourse) Reading 2011 was a million times better!
Pretty awesome performance! Sounds tight. Matt does a great job on vocals but even when singing in a somber fashion there's something about Bono's voice that is unmatched. It's just got so much raw emotion and soul in it. Still this kicks ass.
Good to see Matt smiling a little. It's a nice break from his usual constipated look. I saw Muse in concert and I'm kind of glad that I didn't sit too close.
5:31 two legendary guitarist's signature tone going at the same time. How many times has that happened in history? The Matt Bellamy signature tone laid over The Edge's signature delay.
How can you compare this performance with 30stm, this is epic, I was there and when The Edge came out with Muse it was like planetary alignment. Come on this is the greatest festival in the world not a studio performance
@KinorLovesRockMusic You're fucking crazy. I love 30STM but their version is only good. This is Epic. Muse, probably the best rock band in a long long time, covering one of the most emblematic U2 songs, with The Edge playing his signature delay intro? This is way better hands down.
@KinorLovesRockMusic Are you a fucking retard?... come on man!... Matt voice is much better than Jared Letto voice ,Matt voice LIVE is much better than Jared Letto voice LIVE,... i'll make it so easy for you.. @millosmuse I agree with what youre saying, but wow dude watch the mouth and the anger, represent us muse fans smartly next time and not like a douche.
this is good BUT if you really want to hear passion you should look for the cover of "streets" by 30 seconds to mars in the mtv unplugged they did..it's pure "HEART AND SOUL"... worst case scenario you don't like it and loose 5 minutes of your life but at least you'd tried something new...

@EternallyMuser ok its powerfull just because muse use more bass + harder drums thats all : P but for an example lol check U2 - where the streets have no name rotterdam popmart (for ultra epic bass line)
or U2 - Even better than the real thing mexico city popmart (for epic drum play) ;D
I've just seen U2's 2011 version and I think after having performed it so often they were being a bit irreverent with it, e.g. Bono wiggling his arse and singing a bit of Can't Take My Eyes Off You in the middle. Whereas Muse here are utterly sincere, and putting all their heart and considerable musicianship into it. Maybe it's because I love the song that I prefer this straight version. Also, U2's rhythm section seemed a bit, I dunno, weak...
It was Bono's fault that the performance sucked, he just had to start singing irrelevant shit and change the lyrics so much. But most importantly he sucked because he thinks that it's okay to sing with a shitty voice. I also think that Larry's drumming was superior, the difference is that Dominic and Larry use different drums. By the way that's just my opinion on things.
I'm also a fan of both, more of a U2 fan but w/e. This doesn't trump the original but it does trump this year's Glastonbury performance with ease. The thing is that Bono sang it with more emotion back in the day and I mean the late 80s and early 90s. With PopMart it's downfall began. Again just my opinion.
I still say that this must be my favourite version, U2 are really good at it since it is their song, but this was just the most amazing moment ever at Glastonbury and I don't think that the festival will ever see such brilliance again.
The Pyramid stage at Glastonbury is the place where I wanna play a show so f.... bad. I wanna see that sea of people jumping and singing to our music. Every time i see Coldplay , Muse or Oasis play that stage I just get this feeling of 'I know I'm gonna stand there at least on time"
Seeing this, seeing muse do one possibly the best cover i have ever seen, and smiling all the way through it, just proves to me that they are the best band in the world....
Girlfriend pregnant, I'm in Dubai, had to give my ticket u this year. Baby is born in October. Will I ever see another Glastonbury? Prob not. But being there for this, makes it all ok
AHHHHHHHH i whant to fuck you matt ! <3

@UncleSamFisher I am a fan of both U2 and Muse, but I can say this beats the original by far.

@liamhillmandog
