  • Just bought my 4th Ruger pistol -sr40c. The gun will not receive the magazines when they're fully loaded. You have to literally ram them in and as a result the slide releases on its own and chambers a round without me touching the slide release button. Ruger, in my opinion, is falling behind in quality control. Within the last 12 months I have purchased 4 Ruger pistols, 3 of which have had to go back to Ruger for repair after 1st shooting session. Other sr40c owners have identical problems.

  • I may have missed it but have you ever done a video on the S&W M&P .40 compact? I am kinda torn between the Ruger and S&W compacts in .40 cal...can we get your rathers on the two???

  • @stars13x Dont forget the XD SubCompact... I have one in .40. Love the gun.

  • Just got mine today, love it! Fun to shoot!!

  • i just got 1 today sr40c mine has stainless receiver it looked small n your hands not so small n my small hands lol i have not shot it yet cant wait thumbs up

  • picked up a new sr40c this week and i love it

  • Great video, Im jealous of how well you have learned to shoot!

  • Well buddy because of your vids I just went and picked up a brand new 40c, traded in an old .38 snub nose to get it so hope its worth it. Wont get to actually shoot it for about three days so keep your fingers crossed for me and keep the vids coming. Love the channel.

  • Nice lil gun. I have a Ruger SR9 and i've shot maybe 700 rounds through it so far. It's been flawless shooting. The only thing i'm not too crazy about is the trigger. It's not a very smooth pull like all the other guns i've shot. It may just be me though. Other than that, it's a very nice, reliable gun and easy to keep clean.

  • @Movanaful I own an full sized SR9. Only problem ive had is F.O.E (failure to extract). Im confident it was the shitty TuLAMMO that i used. I wouldnt recommend steel cased ammo. Steel then brass doesnt mix. Im fully kicking brass now!

  • and its ready to go......nice accent

  • @bergracing06 Trigger reset

  • Hey, HK45, you're like the older brother I never had! :) Your opinion...Ruger SR40c, or S&W M&P40c? I have to let my wife know which one for my Christmas present! I have some Rugers, but feel like expanding out! :) Life is good!

  • Turn 21 on the 31 cacbt wait to get mine

  • Well i held that gun a few weeks ago and it fit my hand like a glove. felt as good as a 1911. I have one and the frame feed ramp is undercut and warranty woun't cover it. Nice to have over 600 dollars into a defect!. I had a origional P-85 and it never failed even though it was 'crude'. If Ruger makes this into a 45 i would be very pleased! One of the few American companies that doesn't make junk.

  • @vorevox ..won't..not woun't

  • just curious after every shot i'm hearing a click is that your finger coming off the trigger on every shot?

  • Hickock45, I can't tell you how much I appreciate your correct pronunciation of "ambidextrous" :) Keep the awesome videos coming,

  • @ToddDubya, Thanks. I can usually get it pronounced correctly out of either side of my mouth! :-)

  • Eklable why would anyone want to come to mass to buy a gun. We can't even buy a glock unless it's a pre ban 1998 model or sigs or anything with less than a ten pound trigger. Our state bites the big liberal weennie. The gun shop you spoke of is not that cheep ether their a bit snobby and high priced. My used glock 27 cost 699 at their shop. Their are way better places to get guns my friend in Taxachussetts I just wont drop their names. Not my site to place adds.

  • @mason275 then why aren't the residents of your state doing anything to change it's failed weapon prohibition polices? clearly criminals by definition do not follow any kind of laws so all that leaves is the law abiding public to be effected by those laws you cannot fix stupid but you can vote it out.

  • @mason275 I wasn't saying come to MA to buy a gun, the original question was about a post that someone made claiming to find the gun for dirt cheap, which was what I was responding to, there are some gun stores out there that have prices bellow MSRP's and I was explaining that people need to shop around, not just go to the closest gun shop.

Also, the glocks are high priced exactly for the reason you just stated :pre-ban and high demand. I did mean new gun prices too, sorry for not mentioning.

  • @mason275 btw, don't try to adhere to all the ridiculous MA laws. Very few make any kind of sense as to what they are trying to accomplish, I do order ammo online and have purchased high cap post-ban mags. The other thing that drives me absolutely fucking insane are fixed stocks, where's the justification in that. If I really wanted to make the gun extremely short i would saw the fucking thing off.

  • How you doin, i like all your video's thanks for posting. Just want to tell you forgot about the hand grip extention on the back of the handle which reverses if you take out the pin and slip out the rubber hand extender.

  • is anyone else slightly disturbed by the dog with a hairball in the background, all throughout the video?

Looks like a great gun. I want one.

  • you should do a video on the m&p series of guns.

  • Hickok45, would you mind if I did a close-up video? I like these close up videos you make and I think I want to do one with some of my smaller handguns.

  • I like it

  • how does this compare to m&p 40c?

  • Your thumbs look like toes! Lol. I think I may pick this gun up for Ccw. I too wonder if the loaded chamber indicator would catch on anything or prevent it from being properly holstered. Whatchya think?

  • The loaded chamber indicator looks like it sticks up kind of far, do you think it would cause any issues if you were using this gun for ccw? I know you are a Glock man, but how would you rate the sr40c against the G23?

  • it a really nice gun!

  • It is a nice looking gun. It shot well too, think it had something to do with the shooter. Live your humor. You know if you forget to put your ears on, no has to tell you. You're the first to know. Which was true but it struck me funny thanks for the video

  • I know a lot about clouds...hahahaha.

  • hickok45, I need some advise on a gun for conceal carry for my wife. She would be a first time carrier. She has been shooting my G27, althogh I think it is a little large for her. Can you give us your thoughts on a good gun for her?

  • nice gun, you are the best hikok45

  • I honestly hope you realize how great your videos are

  • Hickok, Love all your videos you really do a great job. I just recently purchased a Ruger SR9c and am getting my CCW. Do you have any insight on Glow inc. paint for painting my own night sights??

  • I really Like These Guns. I favor the SR9 Series alot. But The Compact is Smaller than I like though. But Nice Video.!

  • your camera man does a pretty good job

has he done some sort of course or just alot of practice

  • i wjould love to see you shoot the ruger p345

  • @Tm0g762 hickok will just shoot'em down...

  • Very nice close up shooting. Yeah, I know what you mean about being the first to know when not having your hearing protection in...first shot is kind of Loud. Great video and very nice close ups.

  • i touch myself to this video

  • what's H45's name again? i forgot.

  • niiice little gun

  • How does this match up with the 27 size wise????

  • @Hashmountain I never offered that you can buy one for less than $400. I just called our Leo distributor to verify prices. $475 for a blue label with night sights. Subtract the price of the sights and you are at $400. I also never said you yourself could get one, but LEO, fire , EMT , pilots and military is a lot of people that can. Of course there is a backlog of 160,000 units with only 2000 blue labels a day going out the door.

  • @rat4spd You're trying to compare apples to oranges when you throw up civilian prices versus law enforcement or FFL holders. Let's just let it go as a miscommunication.

  • Just purchased this gun last week and brought it to the range a few days ago. The gun performed flawlessly and was a pleasure to shoot. I shot 3 types of ammo and the gun fired all perfectly, even when alternating ammo in the same magazine. The gun feels amazing in my medium/small hand, especially with the 9 round mag. Overall I am very satisfied with this gun and would highly recommend it. Good price too at about $440.

  • Please talk about clouds

  • @Tm0g762 He does sound like him, doesn't he?

  • can you please do a review of an SR40? p.s. the videos are awesome!

  • what is that clicking sound after every shot

  • If you're not careful, Ruger's going to have to put a big red flag that pops up when a round is chambered that says: "WEAR HEARING PROTECTION BEFORE USING!".

  • great vid, I still wont buy a gun with that obscenely large loaded chamber indicator, the things they have to do for California.....

  • Looks really small.

  • I carry the full sized Sr40 and its one of the best guns ive ever had. These things are just as reliable as a glock ( giving that im not submerging it in water or burying it in sand ;P ) and the 40.cal is such an awesome round

  • your clay pigeon hid from you

  • aw man i have been missing out on this. i reckon you owe me a good couple hundred bills at least Lol

    jk of course

  • Heard a click before every shot . sounded like My Glock trigger.. I can pull it back just a bit till it clicks then its ready to fire with maybe another oz of pull. Not sure if thats what the click was coming from? have forgot to put my ears on a couple times. LOL and Yes I was the first to know.. JKW

  • i wouldnt mind one of these guns but that loaded chamber indicator has to go it looks so lame

  • Do you prefer the 40c or the 9c for a concealed carry firearm?

  • @ds10363 Huh? Thats the trigger reset you are hearing, and Hickok moving his thumbs around.

  • @ds10363 , "disengage the thumb safety after every shot"? Not hardly. That would be crazy to own any gun that had the safety engaging with every shot. :-)

  • @hickok45 Okay good. I was misreading what you were doing with your thumb. Nice shooting BTW.

  • @hickok45 They must've never heard of a trigger reset :)

  • @hickok45 Hey hickok, what is the noise we hear between shots? that clicking noise? im not accusing you AT ALL of disengaging the safety, but I can understand how he would think that, due to the click noise. Can you please shed some light on that?

  • @hickok45 Not in liberal land

  • Comment removed

  • @ds10363

I think what you are seeing is his left thumb coming back into position before the next shot.

  • @ds10363 He's readjusting his grip and allowing the trigger to reset. That's not an "every-shot" safety.

  • @ds10363 its called pinning the trigger, the click you hear is him resetting the trigger it is the proper technique for pistols and rifles alike.

  • @ds10363 that click you hear and that your mistaking for the safety is really the tirgger resting back after he is releasing presshure from the trigger!

  • @ds10363 I don't even know of a modern semi auto that engages a safety each shot. I'm not even sure it exists...thank goodness!

  • @ds10363 i think its the trigger reset

  • @ds10363 i think you're misinterpreting hickok's thumb movement and the click from the trigger reset as flicking a safety off, which isn't what's happenin' here...

  • @ds10363 What you're hearing the trigger resetting after each shot.

  • @ds10363 you must be hearing the sound of him releasing the trigger. that's just the sear resetting.

  • @ds10363 you're an idiot

  • @ds10363 he's just adjusting his hand after every shot,I do the same thing.

  • @ds10363 I think you may be referring to that clicking sound you're hearing after every shot? That's just him releasing the trigger

  • @ds10363 haha, dude, thats the trigger reset...

  • @ds10363

i think your hearing the trigger reset bud.

  • @ds10363 you're the definition of stupidity

  • @ds10363 that clicking is the trigger reset.

  • Good gun, but there is another choice, G27.

  • Hey hickok45, Just wanted to say that I like your videos very much! Would love to see you using one of the Imbel MD assault rifles since the brazilian army is retiring them. Keep up the great work!

  • What is that click after/before each shot?

  • @Awilliams1202 trigger reset i believe.

  • I would like to see a review on the saiga 12

    please

  • please do a review over the RUGER P94 i would love to see what you can do with it.

  • i wish the clay pigion would hav ben shot

  • @hickok45 hey i love your vids and I was wondering If u could make a vid on your gun collection. Like every single gun u own. Or just make a tour of your gun safe. Thanks a lot! Keep up the good work

  • what's that clicking noise after every shot?

  • i want to see a review of the new remington versamax

  • Speaking of ears, which are your favorite? And do you have any hearing loss from all that shooting?

  • Another firearm added to my list for purchase. Thanks Hickok ;)

  • What is your favroit glock?

  • Is there a November radio show planned?

I should know better by now. When you feel like it. All good ...that keeps it "real".

"Patience is a virtue" -The Nestle Quick Rabbit!

  • How's the price point on this gun compared to, say, a Glock 27?

  • @gibson1789 , I think you're talking about around $100.00 less.

  • @hickok45 Thanks for the reply. You're the best on YouTube.

  • @hickok45 With the Glock discount pricing a 27 at $400, I'd like to see Ruger beat that.

  • @rat4spd , Wow, where you finding that price?

  • @hickok45 It's a Glock factory discount for LEO, fire, EMT, and military. I can't say that all Glock dealers participate, but the list of dealers is somewhere buried on Glock's website. I believe that applies to almost all Glocks, not all. I paid $485 for my 27 with night sights.

  • @rat4spd I remember, you have to buy through a LEO distrubutor, which means you may have to wait a while to get the pistol.

  • @hickok45 yeah here in Chattanooga M&Ps and Glocks are running around $400-$450 I guess theres to much cheap competition.

  • @hickok45 No kidding! Glocks, at their lowest price, run about 499.99. If he can get me a new one for 400.00 I'll eat my hat.

  • @Hashmountain Are you hungry?

  • @rat4spd nope, and it's not going to happen because nobody is selling brand new Glocks for 400.00 or less.

  • @hickok45 I know our local police supply store offers law enforcement discounts and even reserve officer discounts on Glocks being around 400. It's a really awesome deal, once I'm a reserve I definitely plan to pick one up at that price!

  • @hickok45 You really have to look around for a great gun store, don't settle for the one that is the most convenient to travel to. I live in MA and I pass through usually drive 3 hours and pass buy 5+ gun stores to get to what we have determined to be the best gun store in MA Four Seasons Firearms (fsguns.com). They have great prices and the best service, so like a said, explore the gun stores till you find the best one.

  • whats that clicking noise after every shot

  • @MrSweetalker101 Probably the hammer re-cocking.

  • @rex3453 Gun is striker fired, no hammer to re cock. The trigger, like on a Glock, resets part of the way during its return, allowing you to shoot without letting the trigger come all the way back. Learning that reset point is the key to shooting fast and accurate. Pretty loud on that Ruger, nice gun but not exactly do-horned, as some would say. That loaded chamber indicator alone would keep me from buying one. Too bad, there are some really nice features to that little 40.

  • @MonsterBNH Yeah after posting my comment I don't know why I said the hammer. It was definitely the trigger, sorry for my mistake lol.

  • @rex3453 No probemo! I love Ruger, but they seem to have the S&W Batmobile disease. Noone is ever going to use the LCI, so having it so obtrusive is rediculouse. The safety is a joke, try hitting that while on the draw. Some positives with that gun but also some serious negatives. 100$ bucks less is not worth the compromises that gun has.

  • @MrSweetalker101 the trigger is resetting, so that it can be fired again

  • thumps up if u want him to shoot and close up an AA-12.

  • @HollandVanDerWiel i thumps down you for being a dick head

  • @csxconductor100 i mean he makes films by shooting guns and give us close ups. i hope he shoots and make a close up, after he see's the comment.. do you get it??

  • @HollandVanDerWiel sorry me and the bottle were having fun last night. but i see ur logic

  • @csxconductor100 no problem

  • I can do without the silly flag raising on the top of the pistol. Ruger should call this the Iwo Jima model. Ridiculous.

    I'll keep mine a Glock!

  • wats the recoil on it like?

  • ★★★★★

The greatest videos on You Tube!!!

  • Whats the clicking nose the gun makes every time after you fire it?

  • @sdrugby1235 trigger reset

  • @sdrugby1235

The clicking you hear after each shot is the trigger reset. When you fire you squeeze and hold tell you regain control of the firearms. I am not a pro shooter but i believe this helps with accuracy and quicker followup shots because the reset point of the trigger is shorter than the full pull.

  • Hickok, what's your conversion rate of "T&E gun" to "your gun?" It seems like you buy almost half of those things. On that basis, these manufacturers really ought to set up a T&E program for all of us...we'd probably end up buying them more often than not!

  • I found the 165grain 40sw are to "snappy" with this pistol.

  • What's the price tag?

  • Can you tell any difference between that and a Glock .40 in regards to recoil?

  • How do you get 1,000 views SO FAST please answer.

  • @GamingNinja123k, I travel around the country and globe paying people to watch my videos. It works pretty well, except that I get really made when I give somebody a dollar bill to watch a video and they don't actually do it. :-)

  • @hickok45 Hey, I've never got any money for it, I'll sue you! XD

  • @hickok45 You mean I dont have to watch your vids for free because they are awesome? Where do I sign up?

  • Dang hickock, as a pilot I got all excited when you said we'd be talking about clouds.

  • @riley191919 , I'll study up on that subject for the next Vlog and maybe give a 20 minute lecture on them. :-)

  • @hickok45 Do more ww2 gun videos! :-)

  • Does the loaded chamber indicator ever get in the way of the sights?

  • @AK107DX

You'll never know it's there. Sits well below line of sight.

If you don't like it, you can also have it removed altogether. That's what I did. Gunsmith put a small wedge of stainless that didn't pivot up in it's place.

  • that is a really nice looking gun :D

  • Nice video, take care.

  • you dont even need a front sight with that loaded chamber indicator

  • Looks good.

  • Another good looking Firearm from Ruger, I just went out today to one of the local Gun Shops by my house and they had a Kimber Classic 1911, can't wait to try it out either tomorrow or Sunday. First 1911 and got it for about $500, it was love at first pickup. The trigger has a nice crisp break on it and it feels like its either a 2 1/4 or 3 1/4 pound trigger

  • whats that song in the background

  • I am a lefty and have the SR9C. It is a 9mm. I have shot over 5000 rds. It is a great gun for a lefty , a great first gun or just a great all around gun to have. Hick I agree with you it is really priced right

  • @BrooklynboyinSC I second that! I love my SR9 and carry daily. I've only got about 2000 rnds through her, but narry an issue. AND made in America! Gotta love that.

  • Nice review as always

  • Man, your thumbs are like canoe paddles.....dips that from all the sooting?

  • Hickok45, I hate you. You get to play with some really nice toys.

  • @KASYZ250 LOL! I just caught that!

  • Nice compact

  • how long did it take for your ears to stop ringing?

  • @KASYZ250 meow. Play nice.

  • Ruger seems like a good manufacturer. I typically think of their revolvers, but it's common knowledge they make great semi auto pistols.

  • @TheAk47Enthusiast Buy 2 SR40c's they retail around here(NWPA) for like $400.

  • I see ya got a few trolls today... Really appreciate your no-nonsense reviews (and the shootin' ain't bad either)... Thanks for sharing!

  • When a company wants you to show off one of there guns, do you get to keep it or is it on lone it you. You must get something out of this other than just shooting there weapons. All though shooting them is a lot of fun.
