  • I'm glad you reviewed this album. and even more glad that you gave it an 8

  • SHUT UP!

  • LOOOOOOOVE THIS ALBUM

  • Just stumbled upon this album basically. Sure, I am mostly a metal guy with the occasional electronic stuff, I enjoy intricate arrangements, energy, aggressiveness and "catchyness." Not crazy about Dylan or folk in general but damn, this album is so friggin' down to earth that you just have to love it. It's basically the most unpretentious piece of art I have ever experienced. Anyway, I think anybody should listen to this, whatever genre preferences you have. Just try it out.

  • why is it that all you tube personalities are the same pseudo intellectual ramblers. WE DON'T CARE ABOUT YOUR OPINION.

  • @MrEasley7 Yeah, the whole speaking-for-the-people thing you've got going on? You can stop that. There's no "we" here. It's just you.

  • The pokemon metaphor made me spray my morning coffee all over the screen

  • the comparison with deer tick is hieretical

  • Hahaha why are people so incredibly surprised that he's swedish? So many of today's most talented musicians are swedish... Geeez guys, talent grows on trees over here!

  • i just heard Eric Johnson say he is loving Tallest man on Earth right now! If he likes it ..........

  • TEN AS FUCK

  • huge agalloch fanboy. i was expecting marrow to take aoty easily but this album came along out of nowhere and fucking stole me away

  • fuck you, biggest fag ive ever seen

    i hat you

  • @jimbith

    I think he cares.

  • fuck you, biggest fag ive ever seen

  • I don't like you - I think it's the way you talk and what you say, you're annoying and I'd prefer it if you didn't make any more videos. (If you do then try to keep them off my screen)

  • fuck deer tick

  • If TMOE is an 8,,, what's a 10???

  • both of his albums are terrific in their own ways. wild hunt is bit more intense while shallow grave is more intimate at times. They both are unmistakably "tallest man on earth" but are different enough to distinguish themselves from each other. Definitely My favorite find of the year (ok the past few years :))

  • Comparing The Tallest Man to Bob Dylan should not be done. Good job.

  • The Tallest Man on Earth is da best eva. I absolutely love folk music, and a lot of folk music nowadays is very crappy. I'd def give both Kristian's albums 9s.

  • your reviews are great, thanks

  • I'm usually not big on Folk genre except this guy and Bon Iver.. They do it tight musically and lyrically. I'm so happy I came across their work:)

  • If compared with Shallow Grave, I'd say The Wild Hunt is a bit stronger - mostly because he's devloped as musician, and is, in my opinion, less Dylan-esque. But I love both of those albums in the same way I love folkmusic. It's an indestructible and eternal genre, and it's dosen't take much producing in order to establish a sound of true human emotions, and Kristian is by far the most promising artist of this field of today and tomorrow, and especially for me since he's from my homecountry.

  • STRONG 9.

  • I clicked on this video looking for the meanijg behind the song the wild hunt, didnt get was i was looking for, but im glad i watched your video :)

  • @ninasabatino Maybe you should try google next time, first wikipedia link would tell you what the wild hunt is :)

it's an ancient folk myth, and cadejo are spirits that was said to appear to travelers at night, there was a good(white) cadejo, and an evil(black) cadejo.

but hopefully you're not still wondering about this, haha.

  • @schullian11 yea i figured it out awhile ago lol. thanks though:)

  • HI ! Love your reviews. Could you by any chance review norwegian band, Kaizers Orchestra, new album "Violeta Violate Volume II" ? Thanks :-)

  • you need to learn how to pronounce folk

  • Personally, I hear a serious similarity between his new album and Daniel Johnston's early work.

  • one of the few albums that can choke me up and almost make me cry

  • you nailed the Bob Dylan facet of the album. you said everything I would've said. I think he manages reminiscence without ripping off in anyway, namely in his voice. very unique and interesting.

    thanks for doing whatcha do!

  • City boy had me cracking up. Good review, amazing album.

  • Thank you SO MUCH for introducing me to this record!! I'd like to shake your hand, sir!

  • Finally a great reviewer!

    Subscribed.

The Tallest Man On Earth is great imo, but leaves room for improvement. The Wild Hunt is definitely one of the best albums this year and I think it'll be a joy to follow Kristian's career.

  • Kristian makes me proud to be swdsh :)

  • @MarreFrusciante Kristian makes me proud tobe Polish ;)

  • What is with your marking system? Have you ever given a 10?

  • I'd very much appreciate a reply. I enjoy talking to people who appreciate the same things that I do.

  • Hey buddy, may I ask why you didn't review his debut album "Shallow Graves" instead of this one? I only ask because you keep describing this album as earthy and organic (my word, not yours, no misquote). Because I felt that this album was alot more polished and produced than the debut album, which i felt was extremely earthy and organic. I also thought that the overall songwriting on "Shallow Graves" was a lot better. The songs on this album (for the most part) sounded a little less thought out.

  • I love this album. 9/10 from me for sure.

  • 11,111 views :3

  • pretty damn close to being my album of the year. he is so incredibly talented. i love that you love this too. :)

  • ahh you said everything i was thinking in this review! AMAZING job!

    This records is supurb!

  • Great review bro.

  • this guy is annoying as fuck

  • "Before you get your folk panties in a knot" lmfao!

I personally think that The Tallest Man on Earth of course has that similar Bob Dylan sound but I think he has that contemporary folk feel that can be found with artists such as Bon Iver, that being said they've toured together and have the same booking agent so it makes sense that he might have that inspiration.

  • something about this man's music makes me want to have a very lengthy hug with him.

  • This was an excellent one, I thought.

  • You could almost give this album a 10.

  • i loved shallow graves. his dynamic ideas are the best

  • Great review, just wondering what did you think of his debut? did you hear it?

  • ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

  • your a fucking genius! you explain my subconscious views of music!

  • @23ScuvaSteve23 Thank you for the kind werds. :-)

  • you're a stupid conversation

  • @quinner damn! i just got schooled!

  • freak cool

  • awesome review man. pinnacle of awesomeness this album. would you say it it is any better/worse than the first album?

  • Fantastic review! I absolutely loved this album. One of the best of the year. You handled the Dylan comparison excellent. It's obvious he gets a lot of his influence from Dylan, but that's not the point. He's earthy and raw, and that's what I love. Kind of reminds me of Nick Drake's third album when it was just him and the guitar and it was so raw and passionate.

  • dig the first album LOVE the second

  • I love this album. I think his sound is more polished and his vocals more confident, but he still kept the great dynamic guitar work. Great review.

  • If this was an improvisational review...I like you.

  • @bleigh29 no, part improv, part script.

  • You know what? you are the best darn reviewer i have seen. Every review i have seen of yours has been spot on, or pretty close, and you don't get all jerky about it. Good stuff.

  • AOTY

  • Great review!

I just did a cover of The Wild Hunt (the track) and posted it on my channel.

  • if you didnt give this a great review, (which you did) i was going to end you.

  • Glad you mentioned this album. He is really amazing.

  • Great review. You handled the inevitable Dylan comparison with grace and aplomb. It's definitely the vocals -- like early Dylan's nasally howl, coming in at a faster clip. An acoustic Subterranean Homesick Blues, maybe. But in the end it's a nonstarter, because every dude who writes decent songs and plays guitar is eventually going to draw the comparison.

  • Your reviews are fucking awesome!

  • Ok, this is seriously good. Holy shit.

  • Fantastic album. Thanks for the recommend.

  • so.. emotionally..... BLUH BLEUGH BLEA>>>

  • hahah, "CITY BOY (city boy)"

  • ANTHONY FANTANO!!!!!!!!

  • @seventhbrokenstring yep, that's me.

  • I once asked him for an interview for the local paper for witch i am a reptorter to (yes, also swedish) he said he was to drunk at the time but he gave med his number and asked me to call him the next day. great guy, great music. And Reeeeeaaaaly great live I can say.

  • One of the more talented folk guitarists (or really just guitarists in general) of our day. Love this guy's music. Can't say enough about both albums. This CD is perhaps a bit more polished then Shallow Graves, perhaps not quite as raw but still just as good. He is an honest, genuinely good and good-hearted song writer. Solid review for an excellent album. Can't get enough of The Wild Hunt or TMOE as a whole.

  • 219 seconds without making a comparison to Bob Dylan. A NEW RECORD! :)

  • Another great review! I loved his first album and I cannot wait to check out this new one.

  • being a canadian I take offense to the neil young type-o in the description. :)

but seriously, I love this album and your review.

    keep on.

  • Tallest Man On Earth is GREAT. And this review reminds me why I love your reviews. Keep it up man.

  • Tallest Man On Earth is GREAT. And this review reminds me why I love your reviews. Keep it up man.

  • tallest man on earth..... forever

  • Ive only heard the song The Gardener. but At first i was like :o omg. his voice. make it stop it annoys me.

Then i was like wait. i didnt get those lyrics lets listen again, still his voice was icky, but i kept listening to it. And finaly i began to LOVE his voice. Its pretty much one of my fav songs now.

  • I saw him live just few months ago. Have to say that his playing was just mesmerizing. By no means was he a huge person on the stage or anything. Humble if anything, still very captivating. The voice, the playing, the way he connects to listener through his music... Just like listening to his album I would say, just seeing him in front of you at the same time, playing for you. Great gig!

  • So excited to see you review this album, I've been listening to it non stop for 2 weeks. I was worried I wouldn't like it as much as Shallow Grave, but I do. Kristian Matsson is amazing.

  • dude, like i've already said on your Black Tamborine album review, you should seriously consider making a video of your Top 30, 40, or even 100 favorite albums of all time. i'm sure everyone is dying to know what they are by now. you're taste in music is TOO FUCKING GOOD!! REVEAL YOUR FAVORITE ALBUMS NOW, MUSIC NERD!!! lol.

  • watched this review yesterday and listened to the linked songs. thought they were pretty good. right up my alley with being a bit like neil young. so i checked out the rest of the album this morning. it is excellent. great suggestion. I thought that i would kinda like it, but I F..ing love it! thanks for introducing me man. i may check out the first album as well. wish i could give 5 stars but a thumbs up will have to do in this new format.

  • @opheliaic Tell me if you end up digging Deertick. The vocals are REALLY similar. :-)

  • @theneedledrop I saw deer tick live. It was AMAZING!

  • Great Review, keep spreading the tunes ;l

    hilarious editing XP

  • @Lopinjop1238 I'll give it a listen

  • sweet review. keep em coming man.

  • @joeyrmn4 Haven't stopped yet! :-D

  • Listened to a few songs and I say I must must must get this album. Great review City Boy.

  • @Verazze If you get it, tell 'em theneedledrop sent ya! :-p

  • More black metal please.

  • @QajarCoffee Any new BM releases you think I should check out? Emphasis on new.

  • so glad to hear you like this one. i feel like he's really evolving perfectly, meaning moving along a bit (piano ballad n stuff) without diverging too much from what he did best on his debut. definitely in my top 5 of 2010 so far. keep up the sick reviews dude.

  • @six6to8eight Will do! :-D

  • He's evolved more in his life than a pokemon! Holy shit that is funny

  • @MonMccool123 A wild Bob Dylan appears.

  • I listened to a bit. I can't say I liked it but maybe its because of the guy's vocals. I'll give it a second listen before I say anything final.

  • I'd just like to say that as far as your words go, you're a great reviewer.

  • @Aeoen Thank you for the kind words! :-)

  • his voice annoys me

  • @MAXIMUSMISCHIEF It's cool. To each his own.

  • "A man...his GUITAWW", haha this is a great review

  • @DUDEMIKE8 Glad you dug it! :-)

  • "Bob Dylan evolves more in his entire career than a Pokemon" hahaha

  • @jrob00 He's the 422nd pokemon, I believe.

  • I'm seeing him in a week and a day : D

  • @KidASquared Tell me if he's great live! :-)

  • Great review for a great album. Im loving it so far.. have to say The Times They Are A Changin is one of my fave dylan too of the 13 or so ive heard.. and i can hear the vocal similarities.. This guy sure hits the emotions at times. I hope he goes on to write many more great albums.

  • @AmidstStormMusic Me, too! I wonder how TTMOE will evolve on his next LP.

  • Think this is a nine, almost a ten. Burden of Tomorrow is an amazing track, plain amazing.

  • @boess I think my fav is the 5th track. I love the first one, too!

  • I think it's a great album, better than his first, and your review gives him all the credit he deserves, anthony.

  • @centendu Glad you liked the review + this album! :-) Thanks for always watching / commenting, dude. Hopefully my blog will be back up soon. It's been bugging out for a while now, and it needs to get fixed as soon as possible.

  • "You got some pretty lips, city boooy."

  • @wuz352 Quotes from the book of Jethro.

  • @theneedledrop Haha, you know it.

  • do you guys think it is better than his first?

  • lol, probably your most comedic review yet. and i'm definitely loving this album, which is weird because i'm normally not into the whole "acoustic singer-songwriter" thing.

  • @GsusBaby Yeah, I think I had a little more energy in this review cuz I was drinkin' some tea. :-)

  • I liked the guitar work but not the vocals. I find them to old school for my taste.

  • I loved the first album! Is there a vinyl version of the new one?

  • Very bright sound, distinct vocals, doesn't bore either. I agree, good score.

  • Love Tallest Man On Earth!

  • @SushiGoat TOTALLY!
