  • I would love to go but I just can't dance :(

  • @zoh87 The do beginners' lessons.

  • What a coincidence: I've just swing-danced for two years, and I'm gonna study Swedish at uni this year, and I'm going to Sweden for a whole year thereafter...And I didn't know this existed.

    I'm so going there!

    Greetings,

    BelgianGeneral

  • Lovely! I thought about going this year, but couldn't make it though. Maby next year then :)

  • Oh, Lloyd! Thank you so very much for making this! My heart was beating like a drum when i watched this video! It's like was there again... LOVELY! Just lovely.

  • This reminds me why I need to get back into swing-dancing, and why I've missed it so. Thanks for that. Thanks for the video chap, yet another masterpiece, in my never so humble opinion. Good luck with more.

  • amazing video :)

  • Great video Lloyd. Fantastic editing!!! :)

  • THEY COME FROM EVERYWHERE!

    Everywhere but Canada...

  • @nubxpro I have an interview with a Canadian (living in Edinburgh, though).

  • @lindybeige and @nubxpro

Aye, and there were plenty of Canadians that traveled all the way from Canada just for the Herrang experience this year too :P

  • @nubxpro Not true there were a whole pile of people from Canada! ;)

  • The nerd in me instantly recognized the single nerdy shirt from a second-long take there. Sigh.

[Guy with a "Stand back! I know regular expressions!" shirt]

Does seem like a pretty fun time, though. Maybe a bit too long?

  • @mumpfpuffel I was at one swing event at which TWO people were wearing T-shirts that said "There are 10 kinds of people in the world: those who understand binary and those who don't."

  • @mumpfpuffel But wait! You have the wrong T-shirt! It is the "Stand back - I'm going to try SCIENCE!" shirt. Nerd-fail. Minus root-2 points.

  • @lindybeige Good sir, that's a 90% hit - they're inspired by the same comic series, after all.

  • @mumpfpuffel That's why you didn't lose root-2 to the power of tau points.

  • @lindybeige Most gracious.

  • Hey, i drove past there the other day.

  • Yeay Sweden :D

  • I should really go to Europe one day.

  • eclectic - adjective - selecting or choosing from different sources.

    I fear I'm terribly boring.

  • Please do post the rest.

  • This is one of the many things that makes me wish I could dance.

  • Looking forward to the rest of the footage.

  • Ahhhh. Weeks on ends is a bit more excessive. Cool beans, man!

  • Looked a treat, amigo!

  • That's cool and all, but like... What's the point? We have the same thing in the States. No one even really enjoys going to them except old ladies with nothing better to do with their lives. They're rather boring.

  • @tylrfshr12 Difficult to square what you write with the evidence I have witnessed: many hundreds of young people having a riotously good time for weeks on end. There are swing dance camps in the USA, yes, and all round the world, but Herrang is the biggest and longest, and is something rather special.

  • I think you're great, it's that simple.

Hoping you show up at one of the small medieval events at Lincoln Castle one day, then I could embarras myself by not knowing what to say and annoying you for a few minutes.

  • Very interesting .. too bad im not much of a dancer .. I'd go anyway though.

  • @TimBlankJ They do beginners' lessons.

  • Strange unfenced or unhedged fields with isolated houses? Sounds like the midwest U.S.

  • @MrDeadly25 In Britain we have herds of cows and sheep all over the place, so we need fences and hedges.

  • @lindybeige Interesting, we obviously have livestock as well but not on such a scale apparently.

  • @lindybeige same in New Zealand, although we also have vineyards as well

  • Hey, you're still alive. What a shocker.

  • @Roflcopter4b They haven't got me yet.

  • well, that was kind of a strange location for a swing-dance festival? but looks like alot of fun

  • i couldn't stop laughing at the skid mark bit

  • you need your own show man! what the hell are the BBC playing at?

  • I'm the sprinter's leg one! Just because you got some fotage of myself in Herrang ( i didn't even take a picture) i'm going to talk to Ruta to try to convince her you are not all that bad!

Again, big thanks for this awesome video!

  • What a great assortment of interesting people..!

  • Lloyd you made Ruta cry!!!! After that beautifull comment on the wall you got her crying...shame on you ;)

  • @kikon78 I am of course terribly sorry and deeply ashamed. She will probably never forgive me.

  • Awesome!!!!!

  • Yay! You visited my little corner of the world! Well, not Herräng specifically, but Sweden.

  • Small suggestion. Do not come to Poland, someone might rob you :P

    Just kidding..... Kinda.

  • @KuroNekoPL Swing weekend in Krakow later this year...

  • @lindybeige Bring your sword cane!

  • @lindybeige Too bad you're not coming to Poznan, where I live. :)

But I hope you'll have fun in Krakow, and maybe do some cool footage, so people worldwide will learn, that Poland is not as bad, as some people say. :)

  • i was going to yell at you in all caps for posting a video that had nothing to do with swords or crossbows or castles... but i seem to have misplaced my caps lock button... now where did i put it? :)

  • I remember reading a bit about your trips to Sweden on your homepage. Guess what happened by the way: That building in Stockholm, the big ugly one that you didn't care for, it burned down a while back. ;)

  • @TheScandinavianOne Perhaps there IS a god...

  • That was a very nice watch

  • The skidmarks are from a burnout. Atleast In Sweden, they're quite common.

  • Ooh, this looks exciting!

  • I think you'd be great for a travel show, kind of like what Stephen Fry did in the US.

  • No kidding. We stayed in the marina just about a month ago.

Saw a couple of people playing gypsy jazz guitar one boat. Coincidence..? Maybe

  • A bit of spontaneous dancing at 1:17, never hurt anyone :P

  • Take that and then ad a shitload of lakes and you got Finland.

  • @MikaelDryden Fair few lakes in this area, which goes some way towards explaining the mosquitoes. The swing dance camps in Finland are smaller, though.

  • @lindybeige You know what you should do: Go to Lapland!

  • I wouldn't mind visiting...

  • yay lithuania! my country ^^

  • @TheOrangePanda After Swedes, this year, the most common nationality there was Lithuanian. Lots of good dancers from there. Great swing dance scene in Vilnius now.

  • @lindybeige

you should totally visit Vilnius !

its beautiful here in the autumn, and lots of great historic locations.

  • @TheOrangePanda Indeed, I have been to Vilnius and had a very good time. Beautiful clean Baroque centre surrounded by a sea of communist concrete. I stayed in Šeškinė, and spent a few days doing all the art galleries and museums. That, and lots of swing dancing, of course.

  • @lindybeige Indeed the post communist architecture and overall look gives this unique feel

still damn shame, would've been great to meet you
