What a coincidence: I've just swing-danced for two years, and I'm gonna study Swedish at uni this year, and I'm going to Sweden for a whole year thereafter...And I didn't know this existed.
Oh, Lloyd! Thank you so very much for making this! My heart was beating like a drum when i watched this video! It's like was there again... LOVELY! Just lovely.
This reminds me why I need to get back into swing-dancing, and why I've missed it so. Thanks for that. Thanks for the video chap, yet another masterpiece, in my never so humble opinion. Good luck with more.
@mumpfpuffel I was at one swing event at which TWO people were wearing T-shirts that said "There are 10 kinds of people in the world: those who understand binary and those who don't."
That's cool and all, but like... What's the point? We have the same thing in the States. No one even really enjoys going to them except old ladies with nothing better to do with their lives. They're rather boring.
@tylrfshr12 Difficult to square what you write with the evidence I have witnessed: many hundreds of young people having a riotously good time for weeks on end. There are swing dance camps in the USA, yes, and all round the world, but Herrang is the biggest and longest, and is something rather special.
Hoping you show up at one of the small medieval events at Lincoln Castle one day, then I could embarras myself by not knowing what to say and annoying you for a few minutes.
I'm the sprinter's leg one! Just because you got some fotage of myself in Herrang ( i didn't even take a picture) i'm going to talk to Ruta to try to convince her you are not all that bad!
@lindybeige Too bad you're not coming to Poznan, where I live. :)
But I hope you'll have fun in Krakow, and maybe do some cool footage, so people worldwide will learn, that Poland is not as bad, as some people say. :)
i was going to yell at you in all caps for posting a video that had nothing to do with swords or crossbows or castles... but i seem to have misplaced my caps lock button... now where did i put it? :)
I remember reading a bit about your trips to Sweden on your homepage. Guess what happened by the way: That building in Stockholm, the big ugly one that you didn't care for, it burned down a while back. ;)
@MikaelDryden Fair few lakes in this area, which goes some way towards explaining the mosquitoes. The swing dance camps in Finland are smaller, though.
@TheOrangePanda After Swedes, this year, the most common nationality there was Lithuanian. Lots of good dancers from there. Great swing dance scene in Vilnius now.
@TheOrangePanda Indeed, I have been to Vilnius and had a very good time. Beautiful clean Baroque centre surrounded by a sea of communist concrete. I stayed in Šeškinė, and spent a few days doing all the art galleries and museums. That, and lots of swing dancing, of course.
I would love to go but I just can't dance :(

@nubxpro I have an interview with a Canadian (living in Edinburgh, though).

Aye, and there were plenty of Canadians that traveled all the way from Canada just for the Herrang experience this year too :P

The nerd in me instantly recognized the single nerdy shirt from a second-long take there. Sigh.
[Guy with a "Stand back! I know regular expressions!" shirt]
Does seem like a pretty fun time, though. Maybe a bit too long?

@mumpfpuffel But wait! You have the wrong T-shirt! It is the "Stand back - I'm going to try SCIENCE!" shirt. Nerd-fail. Minus root-2 points.
lindybeige 6 months ago
@lindybeige Good sir, that's a 90% hit - they're inspired by the same comic series, after all.

@mumpfpuffel That's why you didn't lose root-2 to the power of tau points.

Strange unfenced or unhedged fields with isolated houses? Sounds like the midwest U.S.
MrDeadly25 6 months ago
@MrDeadly25 In Britain we have herds of cows and sheep all over the place, so we need fences and hedges.
lindybeige 6 months ago
@lindybeige Interesting, we obviously have livestock as well but not on such a scale apparently.

@lindybeige same in New Zealand, although we also have vineyards as well
