I remembering hearing a story behind this when I was a kid. Kenny did some car commercials, Dodge I believe it was. He was dressed as a sherriff . The Boone County Police for some reason took it personal as an insult. They took the commercial off the air. Then he came out with the song and threw it back in their face. LOL.
When I was a kid Kenny Price used to freak me out! I think that he was the first 'husky' person I'd ever seen. Midwestern Hayride was broadcast from Cinncy and I lived in that capitol city.
