It is a pleasure to hear an alternative to much of mainstream music. I am glad there is still a market for New Age music. Not everyone has the same taste in music and each genre inspire others to add variety to their new music creations. For example, think of jazz fusion and how country music has evolved lately.
Absolutely beautiful... Truly a gorgeous piece of music... Tonal lozenge for the ears, thank you for postings..... Request, if you could find & post peter buffett's "Northern Mornings" from the same CD, that would icing on the cake.
i was in 6th grade when i first started listening to New Age. I cam accross songs on the Narada Wilderness Collection that till this day....20 some years later, i become emotional. Its beautiful music yet some how there is a sadness to some. They take me deep in thought about life, the world. Great artist!!! Great Musicians!!
I just bought "Narada Decade" on cassette tape at a thrift store for .25! It is a great album, my first time ever hearing any of these songs. Shenandoah is one of my favorites, thank you so much for posting!
Jackie, you could not have done a better job with this tune and montage of pictures. It is nothing but MAGNIFICENT! I live in Virginia and seeing these photos melt into the music is nothing short of heart rendering!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! Oh yeah... I'm a fan of both of you two!!! BIG FAN!!!
This song is evocative of a journey by bus I took as a youth, through the Shenandoah Valley. I met a girl on the bus and, though our time together was brief, our hearts connected. i wonder where she is every fall.
Was she beautiful? We were in our twenties. We were all beautiful.
I'm agnostic and still find this music moving. Beautiful, Nancy and Eric made the best new age music in the early 90's. I remember those times with happiness. I used to walk with my discman through the wilderness listening to Tingstad & Rumbel, David Lanz, David Arkenstone, Nightnoise, Michael Hedges, etc. I became a new age freak and gave up rock for a while.
The way that you describe the happiness you felt while walking through the wilderness listening to this beautiful music and the conection that you felt it is in my humble opinion a very nice way to describe a connection with God, which is funny you being an agnostic
It is a connection that you just feel it, anything could trigger it, like this music did for you.
The photography is amazing. Is this your work? The scenes are strongly reminiscent of the mountains of my home in east Tenn/western North Carolina/northern Georgia. Its unusual to see an entire montage of such scenes, as there seems to be little appreciation outside the local area for the beauty of these mountains. Looking at these reminds me how blessed I am to live here. Makes me want to leave work and drive straight there!
I was listening to this many years on a journey from the Alaskan arctic to Cambridge, England. While there, in a moment of anxiety and wondering if faith was worth my while, a kind priest (who was also a physicist...) said, "Let God be the Lord of the encounter." I wasn't quite prepared to hear those words and I ponder them still.
music like this will be in Heaven
