  • Teachers make kids dumb and numb

  • I heard him speak at a lecture he gave at the University of Houston a few years ago, got to meet him and he signed my copy of Lies My Teacher Told Me that he wrote, very informative lecture - had my full attention the whole time

  • Charlotte Iserbyt, John Taylor Gatto, and James Loewen are heroes. They are the Martin Luthers of Public "Education."

  • Charlotte Iserbyt, John Taylor Gatto, and James Loewen are heroes. They are the Marin Luthers of Public "Education."

  • "Who controls the past controls the future, who controls the present controls the past" G. Orwell.

The mass media control on the population, lowering standards of the education system just to name a few. They just want us to accept what they have given us as facts to be as truths, without questions. The point is the last thing they want is the masses thinking, awakening. Otherwise it's just a vicious circle.

  • Loewen would never mention "Louis Napoleon Nelson"---he was a black slave who fought for the Confederacy! There were others like Nelson!

  • @Bestmanme08 Because they had no alternative. Note the word SLAVE. They were forced to fight.

  • I'm surprised a truck hasn't taken out that monument years ago.

  • Elsworth had it coming...he should have kept his greasy yankee ass off of a good southerners property...it not getting history wrong, its honoring a southerner who acted accordingly.

  • Its a shame that Jackson wasn't able to shoot the bodyguard as well...he's a hero, although under gunned.

  • yay for my country constantly lying...they really do go so far out of their way nonstop to keep lying and to keep trying to remember previous lies and theyre constantly fucking up its just embarrassing and i dont much appreciate being lied to 98% of the time, its not bueno rofl

  • Lies the muslims told me: watch?v=jbPIgSNfuzE

  • we had to read this for middle school

  • ...well hold on. Jackson murdered the Colonel taking away his confederate flag, flying on his property. That I think Jackson deserved to get shot is immaterial - unless we want to claim Jackson's intent was to just shoot him for the hell of it? And not for the Colonel taking Jackson's property (flag) atop Jacksons...property (house)?

Calling it a military action is more correct, or a civilian/military altercation.

  • @mowriter

Jackson ordered peaceful natives off their land to go die on reservations. He'd be lucky to be shot.

  • @whycantipost :??? Different Jackson completely. Andrew Jackson was President way before this incident described, and was dead before the civil war.

  • Anti-American Liberal Propaganda.

  • @BlackRepublican2010 So let me ask you a question, the things he states about Christopher Columbus and the President being a anti-semist/racist? Because I remember looking at a documentary about the president (from that time) and they stated that he was a racist person, and as far as Christopher Columbus....I know you dnpn't think he discovered America and played nicely with the Native Americans?

  • Welcome to AmeriKKKa. Enoy your stay!

  • I"m currently reading "Lies...". I would like a video series from Loewen, with articles such as this. If anyone knows of one, or something like it, that does what he does, please let me know.

  • Loewen is a liar! He pretended in his 2009 book that Europe had no civilization that was like literate before 900 BC when actually there was Minoan Crete!

  • @Bestmanme08 The book I'm talking about is Teaching What Really happened!

  • O wow. Loewen's the shit. What a smart and calculate guy.

  • I remember my college professor making reference to this book. I bought it and read it with a little grain of salt. I could agree with the contributions the Iroquois confederacy to the constitution and Democracy, Christopher Columbus and Presidents. I happened to notice the far-right, Christian-fascist, and others calling it a revisionist-multi-culturalist, and neo-romanticist propaganda for Socialism. As an American Indian of Mayan descent I would disagree with the ultra-right and the rest.

  • i love being able to talk about it with good people all people message me i love it

  • One of my favorite historians, James loewen deserves the highest credit among academic scholorship when it comes to the subject of US history.

  • This is a lame example of how we get

This is a lame example of "how we get history wrong across the country;" if I found someone armed and uninvited in my house I believe I would have the right to shoot them, would I not?

  • I'm reading lies my teacher told me now. I still can't believe how horrible christopher columbus was, and yet we have a national holiday after him, and most people think he was great, but really in my opinion he was worse than Hitler

  • We have to undo the bullshit they taught us in school. Read his book Sundown Towns and see what blacks/hispanics go through each and every day. It's sick that this happens in America even today.

  • Great book. Own the unabridged audio version. This book is one of the most important first steps in beginning to free indoctrinated American minds. Those seeking truth will love this book and will also want to continue their journey down the path of enlightened literature. Good luck on Your travels to free and realign Your perception to more virtuous paradigms.

  • James Loewen is a great man! I own 3 of his books so far and his offerings of truth should be required reading for all US Citizens! I have so much respect for this man, and I would die to hang out with him and talk about history for a few hours. There is no doubt I would be even more informed after our conversation. More like him are needed!

  • @MyRiseToHonor I think a lot of his criticism of historians can apply to himself (even though he's not exactly a historian). I agree with him on a lot, but he clearly is uneducated on even the most basic economic principles. He also seeks to ignore anything positive about American history or negative about "victims".

If people needed to read him to become a citizen, they might be confused. Why did they sacrifice so much to come here if this country is so bad? Why did they leave their country?

  • A123, you must be joking! Uneducated! I have 3 of the man's books and I think uneducated is a horrid word to use when attempting to describe him. People reading his works would then bring balance to the BULLSHIT that is the standard curriculum in our school systems! I suggest you get a good grasp on Heroification and Eurocentrism. Those are his words. I've always called it the Exclusive Glorification of Western White Society. I didn't need Loewen's help seeing that! You're missing his points.

  • @MyRiseToHonor I just finished his "Lies my teacher told me". I didn't think it was that good. It was well researched. He clearly took those 2 or 3 years to read through selected history texts that most k-12 read. I think the analysis was often poor. He had trouble deciphering his opinion from fact.

I agree with a lot of his criticisms of conventional wisdom on historians. My biggest criticism of historians is that they don't understand economics. It is clear he doesn't either.

  • Columbus? ROTFF! He spoke of the Arawak Tribe as beautiful only to revise his position after finding gold. Then they were devil worshipers who needed God! That approach can be seen via global colonization throughout history. My son is in the 8th grade and he is getting a slightly enhanced version of the same Bullshit I once was the recipient of. My mother was an educator 30+ years. She concurs with his position 100%. The man cites his sources so I'm lost on the opinion verses fact thing.

  • A123, Big Brother is just one small section in that book. Just the first 3 chapters on Keller, Wilson, and Columbus put's to death everything I ever knew about those people. I'm from AL and Keller's "heroification" is something all elementary children know, yet she was much more than we were told. Wilson pissed all over Race Relations and enhanced everything vile about the Post Reconstructive Era which is the most pivotal time period and why we see what we now see, History & Sociology. Cont.

  • A123, I've know countless who've read Loewen, like students in high school and college, teachers, and professors who buy into the revision of history in accordance with him, and in totality. You're the first to say this book wasn't good. His cited sources could keep one reading for centuries. He even details how we end up with these BS books written by the victors who clearly have motives behind what they do. The only people who dislike this man are those from my region of birth, The South.

  • On a scale of 1-5 stars, I'd probably give the book either a 2 or 3 stars.

I don't know about you, but I knew plenty of what he wrote about. I've always known that Wilson was a racist fascist. He was a terrible President for so many reasons. I ranked him as 3rd worst in my video which you can find on my channel on the 10 best/worst Presidents of US history.

  • A123, I would give it a 4 verses any and everything I've read personally, or had offered to me via the standard curriculum in schools from Alabama to Minnesota on various levels. Wilson and many Loewen mentioned are seldom covered in detail the way he suggest, which is why he mentions them and the unfortunate approach to US historic figures in our schools on various levels. Just because you or I know doesn't mean the masses aren't clueless my man because many are. YT PROVES MY POINT.

  • MyRise: I'm not saying that the status quo is desirable, but that Lowen is not ideal either.

I agree with him that history is about controversy. It is about yesterdays current events and it is still fun to debate them - which rarely gets done.

You seem pretty knowledgeable on this stuff. I assume you lean left, but I'd like to hear your response to my 4 video's on the top 10 best and worst Presidents of history. It can be found on my page if you'd like to watch.

  • A123, the problem is that history debates never or rarely happen for the most part. Americans are sheep, and if they go uninformed about the truth, as many do via a self induced approach, then it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy for them. Look here on YT where so many racist can be found lionizing Caucasian society as the one true creator of everything. The world is a vast and amazing place with countless powerful cultures throughout its timeline. Thinking like that is flawed logic.

  • A123, it truly is common for those who stand in defiance of the status quo to lean left. That said, there is nothing common about my views. I can't stand either side personally! They're about themselves. Those elite dog politicians have divided society for centuries. They use race, but the foundation of their vile approach is class. Bush sucked, and Obama is well on his way to sucking also. Bush made elites rich as HELL, Obama uses the same approach towards the government. L+R= A Cluster Fuck!

  • The status quo is growing government. It has been happening since the founding of the republic with the debates between the Federalists and the Democrat-Republicans. It got greatly extended, far, far beyond constitutional boundaries during the New Deal. We generally saw a period of reduce government (status quo) under Reagan, but not since those short few years.

Bush was bad and Obama will be far worse. I say that for diff. reasons than you.

Are you a multi-culteralist? Are all cultures equal?

  • Elite A123, very true. Reagan said government was the problem, not the answer. If he was alive and able to see it's expansion under his VP's son, he would have lost his mind even more! As far as Obama, he brought in many of the Wall Street clowns that benefited from the first bank bailout. Change we can believe in huh? LOL, as far as equality, I don't waste time with that subject because I feel that it's truly something only Our Creator can accurately deduce.

  • Even Reagan's VP of Bush Sr. wasn't very good. Reagan made a real mistake by choosing Bush as VP. He should have choose Jack Kemp.

The bank bailouts are not only bad economics, but since we the management that presided over the company's crash hasn't exactly been thrown out, we create more moral hazard.

Both Bush and Obama's poor economic responses are setting us up for another great downfall in the years to come. We are creating another bubble.

  • Reagan chose Bush Sr because of his foreign policy experience, something Reagan didnt have before 1980,also because of Bush Sr sen as a ''centrist Republican, many ''centrists in the GOP at that time were opposed to massive tax cuts at that time, which Bush famously compared the idea to ''voodoo economics''.

I think Bush41 partly helped Reagan attract many independants and conservative democrats,i heard that Reagan wanted Ford as his running mate originally

  • F88, he had more than Bush though. Rummy was there and was once hand in hand with Saddam. We backed Iran, make that Iraq. The Afghan Freedom Fighters are now the Taliban. That entire circle Jerk in the Middle East is the fault of our so-called leaders. It comes from both sides of the fence also. Loewen speaks on the disaster that has been our actions in foreign affairs. Some of it is common knowledge dating back to Vietnam. He did add much to what I already knew though. Nice comments.

  • You always get the puppet of the political left and right,as George Carlin once said you dont really have choice when you vote every politician has hte same agenda they just do things ina different forms,War is always going to happen because of Neocons .

  • F88, George was all that wasn't he? I don't know if I agree with your closing comment in totality. Neocons definitely love war, as long as they nor their children have to serve. My father served in that Vietnam Charlie Foxtrot, and the Dems were the ones who forced the issue there. The Elite Demo Dogs of those times were ideologically different then today's Neocons in certain ways, but they both eventually arrive at the same end one way or another. NOT LOL

  • People should have more choice in elections, the two party system is failing

Your right George Bush jr never served for his country like Bush41 did

  • I was also shocked to learn that Obamas campaigning contributions in 2008 mostly came from Goldman and Sachs filled with corrupt treaury bureaucrats that got Americ ain the mess we are in now, so much for hope

  • F88, First Of All, G. Bush Senior is Legendary, and he never used his service as a platform like Kerry, who threw his medals away. As far as Obama, yeah, it is clearly alarming! One name comes to mind instantly, Timothy Geithner! The former president of the federal reserve bank in NY! I have 3 words for that clown, Pay Your Taxes! Nice selection there Obama. That is change we can believe in, and he's just one example. Truth be told, it's more of the same O same O from our politicians!

  • I have no idea why Obama surrounds himself with the wrong people,it could be one of the reasons why Obama is hurting in the polls.

Timothy Geithner must go,even Liberals can agree to that we cannot keep bailing ou the people that got us into this crisis, the financial system needs a shake up even when the recession will eventually die down in America that doesnt mean that things should go back to the way we were before

  • F88, Obama is doing much the same of what we saw with Bush Jr. Obama brought in Clinton Heads much like Bush brought in Bush Sr. Heads. They both aren't their own men, and even President Ford condemned the actions of Cheney and Rumsfeld. Those two did after all work for him. If Obama was to go after big oil and gas being almost 50% less than what it was 2 years ago, I would at least give him that! LOL, this cycle of BS needs to end at some point if this Nation is to survive.

  • Do you agree that Government is best when it does nothing/

  • F88, for the most part I do. Based on what we've seen for the last decade and some change, I would like them to stay as far away from us all as possible. Violating our Constitutional Rights in the name of Patriotism, spreading fear and impending doom via terrorism from the Middle East or Wall Street. Our not being able to have medical coverage like those making the laws. At this point, I wish they would leave us all alone and let the ISR (I Rape Suckers) continue to job the hell out of us! LOL

  • Dude, did you REALLY think things would be different? We have a public face who comes off as light years smarter than Bush. That's it.

  • A123, more outstanding commentary from you I see. You know, Rome falling comes to mind instantly when I think about our current economic debacle. Clinton played his part in that also. Outsourcing production of goods to China was another great ideal from our so-called leaders! I've come to believe two things friend, China will eventually be the world power, and the United States will be ethnically dominated by Latinos. That last part is a bit off topic, but it has its part in all of this.

  • Yes, and the problem with Rome falling was the loss of their good legal system, and without that, we get the middle ages.

As an economist, I disagree with you on the evil of goods from Asia. American consumers are the ones choosing to buy these goods. We all should specialize in what we do best.

  • Specialisation is for insects.

  • @5147848amp -

Not thinking with your brain is for insects.

Say you run Boeing. You have mechanical and electrical engineers. The mechanical engineers focus on propulsion while the electrical engineers focus on the electrical systems in the place.

Would it be wise to have the mechanical engineer work on the electrical side?

I wouldn't want to fly in that plane.

  • Among many things that I can easily take issue with include his opposition to the term "The war between the states." If we had a civil war, then that would mean the south would be trying to take over Washington D.C. They wanted to take over D.C. as much as George Washington wanted to take over Britain. A war for succession is not exactly a civil war. And oh yes, I'm from the north. Chicago and NYC to be exact.

You rightfully criticize hero-worshiping. Don't be one yourself......

  • A123, that is a small point that's left up to the reader to concur with or not. I could care less about the Civil War or how one desires to label it. I was born in AL and the way its viewed there verses other places is minimally entertaining at best. His position on that one issue, or big brother, does nothing to shake me from clearly being able to see that this man thinks outside the box when it comes to those in the academic field. "Don't be one myself"? LOL, ok, there's a huge difference!

  • @Americaisgreat123 They leave their country because they were worse... really, it is like choosing between two evil...

  • If an invader came to my house and started re-arranging my shit, I'd shoot them too!

  • The Global Elite don't want us to know the truth:

"History are the lies agreed upon."

  • "History is written by its victors"-Napoleon

  • I'm in love with the book, LIES MY TEACHER TOLD ME. It's a book that should be approve as a history textbook in our education system; it should be taught so the blind children could see.

  • My high school AP US History class needs to read this for a summer assignment. ^_^

  • @sweetblubird Lies My Teacher Told Me is Anti-American Liberal Propaganda. IT is know way a history textbook. It distorts history to fit an anti-American, far leftist point of view. Loewen just wants everyone to be as angry, racist & envious & hateful of America as he is.

  • @BlackRepublican2010 Pardon you... he did give credit to americans where it is due... i dont feel anti-american at all when i read this book. Actually proud of how far we got even with a disgraceful history. If anything... he also show europeans in bad light.... but then again most europe nations dislike america.

  • @BlackRepublican2010 This book won an award for Anit-racism.

  • @sweetblubird let me go look up that book "LIES MY TEACHER TOLD ME."

  • ive read this, its very liberal.. not good

  • It was probably all the punctuations and complete sentences that threw you off.

  • Either that or the truth.

  • What a completely asinine statement.

  • adding how many lies are told by cbs news lol owned by zionists:D:) their symbol is the eye lol...classic..way to go cbs hehe exposed

  • Its a war dick ... Jackson is a hero

  • One of the most passionate American historians. This man is in love with history and our understanding of it

  • What about the indians that spoke english to the pilgrims? And the round "church" structure on the coast of massachusettes that predates Columbus and is in the style of structures made by the Knights Templars? And what of the Westbury Knight? And finally, what do the Templars have to do with Masonry and why was it so favored by the founding fathers: why was it instrumental in the rights we hold dear?

Why is none of this covered in history class?

  • First comment.

  • I wish I'd had teachers like James Loewen when I was at School - I might have learnt something, seems like a really nice guy as well. There just are certain people who only have to say something once and you remember it for the rest of your life, a rare talent indeed. johngolby
