Hi, Thx for the comment.. I did keep rolling, just didn't post everything here. Another issue that I was dealing with was that the area was evacuated, and the fire department forced me away from the scene...
I'm about 20 minutes south of downtown St. Louis. I remember the summer day that happened. I was at a neighbors house, Jeopardy happened to be on, then they cut in with this.
The aerial footage from News Channel 5's helicopter was fantastic.
It is very fortunate that no one was killed that day. The fire department had a large area blocked off for days afterwards.
these plants need to be far away as possible from any residental property, very nasty VID, very scary to think about. something the president and congress or homeland security should monitor for safety issues.
I work for a company were we UE (NDT) Non-Destructive test, high pressure cylinders for Air gas and Praxair and in one of those ocations we got a special order of SALENE gas cyl's to be tested, unfortunatly a quarter of the order of cylinders were full....and the problem with SALENE is that is highly flamable if it comes in contact with air, so if you open a cylinder full of salene what it does it ignites sucking all the fire into the cylinder wich causes the explosion of the cylinder
This disaster ended the Praxair presence in St. Louis. They relocated somewhere across the river in Illinois. Probably for the best since the old plant was right smack in the middle of residential neighborhoods. Praxair's safety training was so good that nobody was hurt.
I lived in those lofts also. We moved in the week before this happened. My fiance had also taken the day off and was most likely standing right next to you while you were taking the video. It was pretty crazy.
no way! i skate there too! my friend lars and I found a bum sleeping in there, then we went in the actual offices and bathrooms, they were burnt to a CRISP scary stuff
it was less than a block away. I took the day off and heard the explosion, looked out the window and ran out. I ended up selling the footage to the fox news affiliate. They also interviewed me.
that's some scary stuff. good thing no one lost their homes in the surrounding neighborhood( or did they?). i hope no one got killed or seriously hurt.

Jeapordy was cut off for this??
"It's what happens when large chemical fires are burning"?
Uhhh,... "What is,......when Jeapordy is interrupted"?
That is correct!

i used to work for praxair. this was not a chemical plant. it was a distribution facility that had bottled cylinder gases.
