How about this as a theory? This was such a small one off attack, that it isn't common knowledge. When Picard first experienced the Borg, he didn't get much chance to cross-reference. Any discovery of a previous invasion would have been done later, and perhaps off-screen.
crappy ass fazers .. with these borg you should revert to primitive weaponry. Im talking swords and hatchets. See how these fuckers intend to adept to an axe taking their fucking head off.
@VulpesFidelis Look up the scene in First Contact where Picard guns down the Borg. There are 2 drones. The first goes down easily. The second takes dozens of rounds before it goes down. If there were 3 drones...
I didn't notice until I watched it again, and then it becomes a lot more creepy.
In this case, Resistance is pretty much futile. The Borg are at least 200 years ahead of any technology that Archer has at his disposal. If they had been face to face with a time traveling cube, or even a sphere, I bet Archer's Enterprise would have been destroyed. Lucky for them this was just a small task force of Borg.
How come the borg in the enterprise episode are acting like they're still connected to the hive mind, when the nearest cube and indeed the subspace link to the collective must be minimal to none existant? Surely if a drone was to be re-activated far enough away from the collective, they would just be individuals?
yyeeahh,,,, well I'm not a Trek historian or anything just a regular fan that loves the shows but never did like "Enterprise". But what I have noticed is that when a tv series is starting to fail the head honchos rewrite everything and go back to what the shows biggest draw was.... the Borg. So who cares about the continuity or heck, even making sense... just throw a borg on there and see what happens.
Maybe Desperate houswives need a few borg invasions too.
Boo! The borg would have annihilated captain archer and his crew. I hate how enterprise rewrites trek history. It was Q who 1st introduced the Borg to Starfleet in Picards time. No mention was ever made about the Borg in any trek history until then. How conveinient for flox to come up with a cure for the nano probes, when they could't find the same "cure" in the 24 century. And what about the records of the borg attacking the earth in Cochran's time, even b4 archers time?
This is the trouble with time travel. The home world learned of our existence of Earth and its location because of the rogue Borg. The rouge Borg got on earth because of the time traveling efforts of the Borg home world.. A contradiction.
Ok... I knew The Borg were in Enterprise, but I assumed it was just one drone from a few hundred years ago, but these drones are around First Contact/Voyager time, and they assimilate a ship? Sorry, but there is no way in hell a ship less advanced than the old Constitution Enterprise could stand up to 24th Century Borg technology, it's a bit stupid to write it otherwise.
you forget: the technology the borg there could use was old. Materials and so on were a load of junk to those drones. They tried their best and fastly improoved the ship..
Well if phasers dont work, brute force should. In all cases, the Borg don't have energy shields for that since in many cases, they a superior in strength than most species they encounter.
Yaaaaa.... So why in Next Generation when they meet the Borg for the second (really first) do they not know who or what the BORG are?... They coulda come up with something to explain that. They should know that Star Trek fans are not going to forget the fact that Piccard and crew knew nothing of the Borg when Q brought 'em around...
In the Borg Enterprise episode the incident was just filed away and never seen again. They didn't know it was the borg and it was just one incident, plus the next time they see the borg is 200 years later or so
@mitthrawnuruodo666 They didnt save any nanites? Nobody bothered to cross reference the archives when they were encountered the second time? Wouldn't that be the first thing to do when encountering something new, check if it's been seen before?
Carl Linnaeus died over 300 years ago yet biologist are still aware of his work and pretty much use the same taxanomic system.
It was just a very bad idea to bring in the Borg in Enterprise.
Could they been left over Borg from Star Trek First Contact no one knows how many were there and some beamed down without Captain Picard knowing and they froze there waiting for someone to find them my guess
@ensignjoe I agree they should just start a new series of Trek 200 years after the TNG era. FUrthermore, the universe has become dystopian and the federation has time travel capabilties, much like what we seen in that Voyage episode.
SG1 replicators are a ripoff of the borg. they ignore you until they think you are a threat. they adapt to energy weapons but vulnerable to bullets. they are like insects. and they assimilate technologies
well they were all over the galaxy... and no1 could defeat them because they didnt use anymore such "primitive" things like projectile weapons..hehe they always could SMASH EM WITH A HAMMER:P
@BorgHub ......Neither are borg nor replicators are original concepts. Both concepts have been around repeatedly in scifi literature for a good 40-50 years prior to their tv appearences.
They are also quite different from one another - one a self replicating swarms of robots whilst the other cyborgs that convert other into their kind. To call one a ripoff of the other is just wrong.
@BorgHub yes but in SG1 the humans are smart enough to realize when energy weapons don't work, and projectile weapons do, then stick with projectiles don't stand on your ass modifying your weapons, unlike TNG, DS9 and Voyager personnel, who are too stupid to replicate projectile weapons to use on the Borg
