  • Great vid and editing...all 3 of them are fantastic guitarist. It would have been fun to have heard them playing something a little more technically challenging -"La Rossiniana" is fairly easy piece but gives a lot of opportunity for players to show their interpretations and focus on playing with passion and so Pepe Romero really stands out in this regard. Excellent post!

  • somebody have the sheet music?

  • they all 3 have a haunting quality yet it is Bream that is the finest wine of the bunch!

  • Fisk brings this piece to life.

  • Bream. Definitely.

  • personally I think it's pointless. The comparing of apples and oranges. A little boys game. At this level they are all good. I think it's great that each of them has their own interpretation of the piece. makes things interesting. I'm not interested in robots!

  • As much as it must have hurt bream to take a break from playing the music of Britten Walton and Bach to play some of the silly little guitar composers, you must admit he does it well...

  • I think marcin dylla's version is the best

  • @sodom87 an opinion is an opinion people..

  • I've only heard one person mention Marcin Dylla's name, his version is brilliant!

  • DESIDERIO ISTHE GREATEST EVER CLASICAL GUITARIST EVER GRACED THE PLANET!!! anniello desiderio!! forever!!CHECK IT OUT!!

  • @vinnothelizard Totally Agree !

  • @JPMusicMarc7 ..............thank u for knowing ur stuff!! there are assholes who know nothing about the guitar !!

  • Julian Bream plays this the best hands down. I have the whole 11 or so mins of him playing it on a CD and he is superb.

  • Amendment to that, i just found the CD, and its 15minutes.

  • and it's 15 minutes of pure extasis and happiness ... Bream...

  • case in point if you need one, right at 13 seconds the scale that leads into the theme there has so much energy in it, and the accents he puts on the chords in the next part are really what VIVACE should sound like to me.

  • Ah classical musicians find it hard to listen to someone taking a different approach. To me his playing is so vibrant with life and passion that the music seems alive again in the 21st century. To me its not about playing perfectly on rythem with perfect tone and expression, I like the exciting approach fisk takes even though it has its inaccuracies, at least its alive

  • Personally, I think that David Russell's version is the best.

  • David Russell

  • migliore sicuramente bream!

  • You must be kidding!

  • que rossiniana estan tocando????

  • no. 1

  • Putting Fisk in a competition with anyone is hilarious, fisk sucks so much...

  • I get that feeling. Why is he so famous?

  • If someone told you you'd only have one source of music to listen to you'd take Bream over everyone else.

  • The best Rossiniana every played by far was By Alexande Lagoya the best in Italian music. One of the 5 best interprartions at any any piece of classica gutar i have heard in so many years ,out of this world eprfomance, the best Lagoya ever did.

Unfortunately he didnt record it and i lost the tape from a live concert i had,it is wanted if anyone has it.

  • Check out Marcin Dylla's versiono of this.

  • Fisk performance has fire. He wins.

  • wow there was a competition going on?

  • god bream is shit.

  • Oh and Romero waaaaaaayyyyy ahead of Fisk.

  • No comparison... BREAM by bloody miles!

  • Bream plays it like music !

  • Bream ... hands down

  • simplemente bream

  • Bream....!

  • Bream. Fisk is too fast, and too loud without much variation in tone. He's just "shredding". Romero is too slow and doesn't seem to give the piece any life. I was rather bored by his rendition. Bream though ... ah, Bream was just right. Amazing artist, that man. Did Segovia ever play this? If so, is it on youtube? I'd be interested to hear him play it.

  • As a poet of my province said once, "art is not a racing where someone has to arrive ahead", but I like very much the sonority which Bream gets when playing.

  • haha.......bream is a funny guy...!!

  • Each have their own way of interpreting it. I like all three for different reasons. I saw some dude from Czech Republic play this live the other day and he blew these performances out of the water.

  • who? not out of incredulity, I simply want to know. I do know the Czech have produced many great musicians so i could believe it, and it's always good to find a new guitar master to listen to.

  • simplemente julian bream¡¡¡¡¡

  • a mi opinion, bream ... por mucho

  • I adore Bream!!!

  • There is so little music in this study that the cards would seem to be stacked in favor of the pure technician; their is little for the musician to discover in this second rate piece, and therefore little room to shine. I'd like to here Julian play it at Pepe's tempo. Faster is only better if its a race; this is music

  • Fisk flat-out blows away the others. Even at a far faster tempo, his arpeggios are clearer and overall he plays with the requisite bravura.

  • Bream, Romero, Fisk....all greats in order of greatness on this piece.

  • i vote for julian bream though romero and fisk are unbelievable

  • This section is marked Allegro Vivace. The guitarist who best captures this here is Fisk. The others are more like Andante Aburrido. I have immense respect for all three guitarists though, and each has done wonders for the instrument.

  • Very nice video, indeed all versions are very original.

  • Bream- Aber übrigens tolle Idee ! nice idea for the video!

  • In mi opinion, Fisk has way bigger cajones than Bream or Pepe. I love all three, but cmon, if I were stranded on a desert Island with not beautiful women, but some guitarist, well never mind this is getting weird.

  • Idoit!

  • Hervorragend!

  • bream is the winner!

bream know how to play this piece,he understand all the motifs. bream is the master of the classical guitar.

fisk play it nice but not like bream...

  • the motiffs aren't really that hard to understand, but i do agree bream has a nice interpretation. Although due to the showiness of this piece I have to give my vote to Fisk who, in my opinion, plays it with the vigor and conviction in what the spirit of the piece was intended.

  • and the winner is??

    Giulio Tampalini

    Bravo Giulio!!!

  • I agree with most that vote for Bream the Bream recording is melodic and shows his complete mastery of the instrument. Don't forget that producers and recording engineers have some input in this process. The Bream recording quality even though not digital---- is very superior. Although like the post--- I like all e performers---- for what they contribute---and inspiration they provide.

  • wow...very interesting to hear differant interpritations from these masters...I am a fan of them all but Bream has long sice been my mane inspiration to play.I enjoyed mr. romero very much here...u should make other videos like this...when u have time.
