@uatam552 Oh I was told you cant turbo a 2 stroke because the exhaust valve and intake valve are open at the same time, so all the air would be blowing though.
@rex669 not all 2 stroke can be turbo, but you can check around youtube there is few 2 stroke with turbo out there.. check for polaris and arctic cat mountain sleds,
@brandino13 even if the sled weighs 600lbs, with an MC Xpress turbo kit, those things can outrun most sleds. He's prbably pushin about 300 horse from that thing. But it does take some cash in ur pocket to make it run that much. I still prefer 2 strokes.
@brandino13 It doesn't matter if it weighed 1000lbs. its power to weight ratio. 300hp to a 600 lb sled is 2 lbs per hp. thats insaine!! the absolute best they are doin on the new stock 2 stroke sleds is 2.9 lbs per hp.
come check my video out..... it will make u fall inlove with snowmobiles...... click on my name and click on snowmobile riding ( please rate and comment )
@SkiDooFan9 haha i can pull wheelies but i was being sarcastic, obviously a turboed apex will pull better, no need to look to deep into it dip shit. I would rather have a race sled anyway.
@transdrole no not if you know how to use it i dont like any sled even my ditch sleds to have any less then 140 hp on a two stroke and 150 on a four stroke trubo nytro would be my favorite sled for mt riding and also would work for ditch well but for ditch i kind of lie the new skidoo backcountry with the 800 in it
it takes alot to reach 550 hp. alot of work, alot of time, alot of tuning, and alot of cash. a stock m1000 can easily tak a stock yammy. the weight difference is pretty high.
im talkin about like a warrior or other 1000cc Yammy. the only way a 4-stroke is any good is with a turbo. comparing stock-to-stock, comparing apples to apples, 2-strokes are faster. like my old ZL500 racing a new Phazer. I kicked hiss ass.
i was talking about the same 1000cc yamaha sleds. The 4stroke warrior, apex, etc race in the 700cc class. you should make a fair comparison. this is not apples to apples , a new phazer 4stroke and an old zl500 2stroke. they are not in the same class, you should have beat the phazer...good job kid, you have a badass sled
it doesn't matter what class they're in in a race, it's what the physical diplacement measures up to. that what i mean by "apples to apples". 4-storke to 2. 2 strokes are simply more powerful and lighter. sure they pigs on fuel, but 2 strokes are simply better unless you turbo a 4stroke.
there is no way to compare two things if they are not in the same class. you cant compare a 5.0L F150 vs. 5.0L Mustang even though they may have the same size motor. I never said that 2strokes weren't sweet, but your comparing 2 different things so your results are messed up
your comparing a truck to a car. the truck is more useful, but the car is better on gas and faster. there i just compared them. 2 strokes are faster, more powerful, lighter, and can rev up higher. it's not 2 different things, just 2 different engines. like a standard internal combustion to a rotary. rotary's can theoretically rev up infinitly, but don't have much torque. same principle apllies to 2-strokes and 4-strokes.
theres no doubt that eventually, all sleds will be 4-stroke, and when they improve them by making them lighter and so they can rev a little higher, im all for them because they have the bottom-end torque, but they just too heavy. but when that day comes, theres no doubt a 4-stroke will be in my garage to. haha
@ cfire600...i think you should check your data again. you may be surprised to know that a nytro weight less than your 600. and it revs higher. plus if your sleds weight is a little to much. skip that next double cheese. you will be alright
as per the data i have researched and double checked, the Nytro XTX weighs 246KG which is approx 550 lbs. my 2009 crossfire 600 weighs a fair bit under 500 lbs. i can't find the exact specs for it, but most people are saying between 480-490.
that is not including electric start for your cat and you have a smaller track with less power. so if your data is correct...the nytro is 50 lbs heavier, 18hp more powerful and it has a 3 in. longer track with electric start. cat would be 4.237 lbs/hp . nytro xtx 4.07 lbs/hp
the XTX has about the same track. and electric start, ya it adds alot of weight, but is useless for a 600 unless you have no strength behind you. plus, the nytro is 1054cc whereas the cfire is 599. so an extra 3 grand for an extra 18hp just isn't worth it to me. not yet anyways. and it's 60-70 lbs heavier. so if YOUR data is correct, then it's cat=3.98 lb/Hp and 4.06 for yammy. but mine would be around 3.78 lb/hp cause of lightweight can and some other mods.
lets talk stock vs stock or mod vs. mod. you just cant compare apples to apples can you? if you want to talk mods then your cat is def. undergunned. if you put an aftermarket pipe on the nytro it takes off more weight than your cats. also, ur sled has a 141 in. track. question for you tho, is the crossfire 6 lighter than the 07' f6? i am not sure and figured you would know
Yamaha claims the Nytro is 130hp but on dyno it has showed numbers closer to 138hp. The dry weight on the xtx is 542 lbs and the wet weight is about 615 lbs. Anyways the Nytro dry equals 3.93 lb/hp. The weight i found on the Cfire is 485lbs and around 120hp. So a Cfire 6 equals about 4 lb/hp. My data is from MaxSled and snowgoer. They are actually pretty even considering one is a 4 stroke and one is a 2 stroke. The Nytro was built to compete with the 600 class 2 strokes.
all the sources i've looked at said the Nytro XTX was 553lbs dry with 130hp, but as far as ponies, every review is gonna be different. so lets say 553lbs with 138 hp. 4.007 lb/hp. i couldn't find dry for CF600, so lets say it is 485. mine dynoed at 125 stock. so that brings it to 3.88 lb/hp. clearly we have completely different sources, so the only foolproof way is to dyno both side-by-side and weigh them side-by-side. because there is no way a 1054 triple pushing 138hp is gonna have a...
I got the Nytro XTX dry and wet weight from MaxSled were they weighed several different sleds, but the only Cat they did was the z1 turbo. Anyways, they are pretty similar sleds considering how different the motors are. It would be interesting to see dyno runs on both sleds and the wet weight for both sleds.
@paintballer0816 mkay. thats total bullshit right off the bat. no sled out there is gonna have 896 horse, even at the crank, without running nitrous, turbo, or running pistons the size of a pancake. cat has the worlds most powerful production sled (z1 turbo) and its pushin 170 some horse. send me the dyno sheet, then i'll beleive you.
@cfire600 i dont need no dyno sheet. gosh my sled has the new kenne bell 4.6l supercharger. im only running 10 lbs of boost. but i can run 4 sec passes, ooohhhooohhhohhh its sweeett. lol u dont believe me look it up KB supercharged sled.112235677442332 if n othing comes upp o well. ohh yea i can go 245 mph!!
like i said. not stock. and probly not just a charger. a super on a 1000cc 4-stroke has a gain of about 80-100 hp. turbo, about 150-200. gotta be running at least race gas, and definately not a 2-banger 1000cc. and garunteed runnin juice.judging by what your saying, its aint stock, and probly a drag sled. youll never hook up well enough on snow to do a 4 sec run. gotta be a slick track for pavement. only if all this is true i will beleive you.
@paintballer0816 oh right! i forgot about those things! yup, them 1974 supercharged john deere "powerhouses" you know they have some torque. haha. i actually raced one with my dads old '95 chevy 2500 and still beat it!
What about the skidoo etec motors... look at boat motors... 2 stroke has more torque... better emissions and better fuel milage... soon all skidoo motors will be etec motors
you get more gain out of a four stroke by turboing it. a turbo will still give you a massive power boost in a 2-stroke, but turbo's are more efficient in a four-stroke.
I agree with jsmallwood2007, I do like the 4 strokes and all. But still to this day. I think your best bet would be a 2 stroke. There lighter, Power when u want it, and much much easier to work on.
Stock yamaha 4 strokes make the most non turbo power out there, and with turbos make more then any other turbo sled out there,. they are also the most reliable.
lol i did not need a turbo and my little 440 get me there easily... why spend alot of money to get there?? probably it is your riding ...... you need to improve how you ride...
lets meet up over there in one month... and i still have that sled.... i will be glad to use it and prove it to you .... i will bet you that i will arrive on the top first.....
ok, the kids were aguing with me that turbos are important for mountains ridings, i told them not true ,, i just merely explains that my old 440 went up mountain easy... not need turbo... it is thier riding style or attuides...or show offs
i agree with you to a point, there is a lot of snobby little bastards that get everything they want, and never really ride it to its potential because their too shitty of riders for their machine. but turbos have definitely pushed the limit, you cant argue with that.
totally agree with you this kid in my town got a m8 with a monster decal kit, nos, carbon fiber dash, chrome risers and a butterfinger throttle for being a good kid
um a old 440 couldnt climb a 2,000 foot vertical chute that an apex turbo could apex turbo 250-300+ hp i get that if you are a good rider on an older sled yeahh it will do fine but the new technology changed the world of snowmobiling
the Apex is no doubt a mean sled but nothing beats an M8 with a boondocker turbo search slednecks 11 and click on the chris brandt vid hes on a turbo M8 and see what you think of that!

lol i did not need a turbo and my little 440 get me there easily... why spend alot of money to get there?? probably it is your riding ...... you need to improve how you ride...
wowshark 2 years ago
thedudefrom the woods said it well...."there" was a different place...prefer a lighter 800cc 2 stroke myself...rent one you'll be impressed
jsmallwood2007 2 years ago
when i was young kid, my 72 invader 440 got me there no problems!! nowdays young kids have to have a turbo get there i think thats silly
wowshark 2 years ago
oh come on you can't look at this and say its not cool!!! haha

lets meet up over there in one month... and i still have that sled.... i will be glad to use it and prove it to you .... i will bet you that i will arrive on the top first.....
wowshark 2 years ago
are you trying to argue that new sled technologies have not had any impact whatsoever on what can be accomplished with a sled? OR
are you trying to argue that riders nowadays are not as good as they where back in 72 or whenever you had your 440?
im kinda confused in the point you are trying to make..
thedudefromthewoods 2 years ago
ok, the kids were aguing with me that turbos are important for mountains ridings, i told them not true ,, i just merely explains that my old 440 went up mountain easy... not need turbo... it is thier riding style or attuides...or show offs
wowshark 2 years ago
i agree with you to a point, there is a lot of snobby little bastards that get everything they want, and never really ride it to its potential because their too shitty of riders for their machine. but turbos have definitely pushed the limit, you cant argue with that.
thedudefromthewoods 2 years ago
totally agree with you this kid in my town got a m8 with a monster decal kit, nos, carbon fiber dash, chrome risers and a butterfinger throttle for being a good kid

man when im being a good kid my mom might let me go to a friends house spoiled brat
a6763w 2 years ago
um a old 440 couldnt climb a 2,000 foot vertical chute that an apex turbo could apex turbo 250-300+ hp i get that if you are a good rider on an older sled yeahh it will do fine but the new technology changed the world of snowmobiling

MrMcat101 2 years ago

Rumpeskjegg1 2 years ago
the Apex is no doubt a mean sled but nothing beats an M8 with a boondocker turbo search slednecks 11 and click on the chris brandt vid hes on a turbo M8 and see what you think of that!
sgtskully123 2 years ago
The M8 Turbo is a very nice sled but if you put Chris Burandt on any sled he will make it look good!
