In her prime, Kabaivanska was so wonderful--her voice as expressive as Olivero's and her acting so thoughtful and heartfelt. No one like her today! She was diva.

Wonderful. Have never seen this opera. I don't recall anything in the libretto about a windstorm during the last act.

Anyone know? Is Franco Tagliavini the son of tenor Ferruccio Tagliavini?

Franco is not son of Ferruccio Tagliavini. Just a pure coincidence of the names. I've been also wondering about a possible relation between these tenors.

There's no storm in the libretto, you are right! In fact, it's a very original artistic decision of the Stage Director - M. Bolognini. I like the idea a lot. IMO, these white curtains, so fatefully waving in the wind, are another bad omen for the forthcoming tragedy, a strong symbolical sign of the inevitable death... My best regards to you!
