  • Sounds like the Cabs' Yashar

  • My god, absolutely loving the tribal style rhythm on this version! It's epic! Why was it not retained for the album release?

  • This is the way, Step inside…

  • this is a postpunk jim morrisson

  • Hey, about that beat, copy/paste "Chico Hamilton Quintet w Eric Dolphy" in Dailymotion...

  • probably best live version of atrocity exhibition

  • Ive watched this vid again just to hear Ian shouting ''FOR ENTERTAINMENT THEY WAAATCH HIS BODY TWIST!!!''

Just fucking brutal:) what a fantastic singer, I really wish he was still alive

  • That was a compliment. Fuckin' asshole.

  • @elementengine sorry, my psychic powers are on the wane.

  • @elementengine THANKS FOR COMPLEMENTING ME

  • Curtis sounds like a fucking madman.

  • @elementengine or genius. ...........too heavy for you?

  • @elementengine reminds me of Jim Morrison here

  • Ian Curtis you are sadly missed! Wish I was around to see you live..

  • Joy Division were brilliant and revolutionary, but please don't overlook where this song title comes from - the genius fiction writer J G Ballard, who alas died last year. Check him if you haven't - obviously Ian did. He was and is the future.

  • That was fucking incredible.

  • the cure should have killed themselves 1413243215 years ago

  • Morris was a kick ass drummer until he bought some 808's or whatever...Ian Curtis..no need to comment...I'm sure we all have a similar opinion about how great a lyricist and vocalist he was.Hook and Barney played their role to the max too.I ain't never selling my vinyl copy of "Closer" EVER!

  • @abagail4me Chances are what you think are rolands are probably him, they didn't call him the human drum machine for nothing!

  • Heard this track so many times...one of their best.

    Goosebumps.

    V.O.I.D.MK20 (MA)

  • i always suspected they got the drum riff for this from captain beefhearts "the blimp" and i remember reading the drummer from jd is a beefheart fan. either way theyre very similar.

  • sounds like they listened to a lot of Can

  • incredible awesome version of atrocity exhibition

  • this is the best drumming ever.

  • @cubanzombie

He might be daft as a brush, but he is definitely the best drummer to ever play in the history of music (and the best looking, slowest-aging one at that)!

  • @thebobbseytwins Daft because he's a genuinly kind and compassionate person? Please...

  • Drums different from Closer but mad cool. Ta very much for dis one.

  • Yea they're much different. The Cure, whose drummer sometimes played tribal sounding beats too, occasionally would play a fully tribal sounding drum in their live performances from time to time as well. Almost like exposing their source of inspiration.

It would be fascinating to discover that Steven Morris actually listened to like African Tribal music and sampled drum beats from it...

  • You have to hear this on the Amsterdam Paradiso Club bootleg. Video is on here somewhere. Where "he" disappears.

  • @donnybrooklads i agree with your comment the paradiso version is more tense and strong and with much better sound quality

  • You have some cool music on you page

    enjoyed it ......

  • Like Atrocity exhibition by J.G. Ballard. One of the best songs of Joy Division. is there mix about this track?

  • Great monumentum indeed.

  • genial

    :)
