The camera was shaking because the motor was still trying to turn the propeller, which was banging into something each turn. In a few seconds, the motor melted internally, then the two big capacitors in the Electronic Speed Control popped, resulting in the smoke. It would have been much better had I remembered to switch off the throttle.
