  • Nice bowl. Nice tools to boot! Most of us try with such lesser gear.

  • Can I ask: what did you finish your bowl with to seal it for food? I've heard a number of things, including shellac.... call me curious!

  • Fantastic!! Thank you.

  • A piece of railroad—What a great idea for a gravity clamp.

  • very nice!

  • Beautiful.....you've inspired me to try one of these projects.

  • Excellent

  • Very nice, I must have a go myself. I've always been a bit wary of segmented turning because of the need for extreme accuracy with a lot of different angles.

A question, though - there are different ways to assemble the four triangles. Is any one way the best way?

  • If I may ask, How did you remove the glue block from the bottom?

  • @djbs66 In my school days we had chance to make a bowl on the lathe. We also glued a block to the base, our teacher told us to glue a paper towel both sides and sandwich it between the block and base. When the bowl was finished and you removed the block the paper was supposed to split along its ply's leaving a layer on both pieces? Yes it normally worked!

  • Man, what a great design! SImple yet beautiful. And I love the railroad track clamp, lol. I use a screw jack and a 2x4 down from a ceiling joist to the top of my stout bench, works great.

  • @ronnaneil- What wood did you use for this project? Does the base that you attach stay on later or that just to turn it? What were the dimensions of this bowl? With what tool did you cut the 45's for the triangles? I like this a lot!

    Thanks.
