I used the V-Twin kit with my 883 heads and the kit had Wiseco pistons , cylinders, rings etc. I took the economy route so I didn't change the cams or heads. I re jetted, SE air cleaner, SE ignition, and pipes. A lot more power and torque
Great video, i just finished my own 1200 conversion, posted. Hope ur as happy as I am. This is a must for the 883, saves on insurance to, wink wink. Did you rejet ur carb? I put in my SC carb a 180 main and 45 slow.
I was quite surprised by the carbon. I've been using chevron with tecron plus I changed jets and ignition. I don't remember if the vibration is different. It runs great and strong. I've put over 5000 miles so far.
Thanks...I've since been told the carbon is normal, but can accumulate too much over time and cause problems. I bought a flexible pen light at Home Depot (their "Husky" brand) to check the carbon on my piston through the spark plug hole. If interested, maybe you can do that to see how the Techron performs. I plan to use "Seafoam" myself. It seems all the rage with gearheads :-)
How's the vibration with the 1200 vs. 883? A sales guy told me the 1200 vibrates less because it doesn't have to work as hard. Also, is that much carbon on your 883 piston normal? Yeah, I'm a "noob."
awsome video im getting ready to do this conversion just waiting for the parts to show up. how long did it take you and were you pleased with the outcome. anyhow very helpful i never imagined it could be done in frame but what a relief.
It took a day and a half. I've got quite a bit more power and torque. I also had done the SE AC and pipes. After the conversion I added the SE ignition module.
ok so going to the 1200 is a good start, now lose the bird, asshole

I got mine from V-Twin. Was it the piston or the rings or the cylinder?

Did you run it with the original carb first? How much do they run$? Did you dyno it?

did my own 3 years ago and never a problem. Kept the 883 heads and used wiseco pistons. Did put a mikuni HSR 42 on her, big difference.

Which compression ratio option did you go with (9.5:1 or 10:1) and with SE ignition?

9.5:1

Great pics. Did you change to 1200 heads or run the stock 883s? What about cams? If you are running the stock heads, which pistons did you use?
