@hellraiser45106 An addiction to music is not negative, the negativity of words is always circumstantial. I am pretty sure it says "My addiction," and the first syllable of the word addiction is there, so it wouldnt be diction, unless it said "my a diction" whch would not make sense.
@Somefatguyification I never even said an addiction to music is bad, but I will say that in Dallas' case, it is. Why else would he say it's a detriment to his relationship? My guess is all of you who comment have no idea what you're talking about. BUT that is okay.
been with my boyfriend for 6 years and he is struggling with an addiction to drugs and he played this for me and it help me see how all of this struggle is worth it because we both know we will never find anyone like one another if we give up on our love
please please check out my cover. I am trying too make it the real way. there is also original music on request on my channel. i have a signed set list from there last gig in manchester by the entire band and met them by chance. so blessed. thank you.
@maddymarijuana420 Pretty positive it's "addiction." I'm also pretty sure it's about his addiction to music, and how he feels he isn't always 100% into his relationship/marriage which causes problems yet she still stays with him.
@hellraiser45106 you are right, it is about his addiction to his music. if you know the big words in the songs thats the only way it makes since, lol. C&C<3
@hellraiser45106 ya thats true. in a video he said that it has to do with the struggles of the ups and downs of a relationship, but its so worth it to stick with it. i love this song so much, because, my ex gf cheated on me multiple times, hit me a couple times, yelled at me so many nights and days, wasn't trustworthy whatsoever. i kept going back to her, because i loved her with all my heart.
@hellraiser45106 I'm with maddy on this. For one, it sounds like he says "diction". Two, addiction is a negative word, so saying that it 'can' be a detriment doesn't make sense (of course being addicted to something is detrimental), but diction is usually positive or at least neutral, so saying it's a detriment is meaningful.
I think he's saying his words (warships) are detrimental to the relationship as they're what he uses to deal with his past, and can be hurtful.
@DaveRobsy When is Dallas ever really "positive?" All of his songs could be labeled as "sad/depressing." Just look up some interviews with dallas discussing why his songs were written. He gets so into his music that he unknowingly begins to neglect all the people that care for him, that can be taken as an "addiction" and just like any addiction you have to work at it to come off it. He is acknowledging that fact, and hitting it head on with the words in this song.
Was actually looking for "Fragile Bird" when I clicked on this by "accident"... I'm on my 3rd listen now... wow, that was no accident! Great song indeed!! ;D
This song sums me up, Dallas Green is my new favourite person in the world, only recently discovered him by chance while listening to Elliot Smith on spotify. I've never listened to someone who basically could say all my emotions over a range of songs, I want more!!!
its as though he took the words right out of my heart.
