Ermmm. Why do they always show these evasive driving lesson types on WET pavement? You never see them skidding around and doing this kind of stuff on hot, dry asphalt... It's not hard to whip a cadillac/hummer into doing 180s on wet pavement.
@ineverrememberthese its not hard doing these things on dry pavement either, on a closed course with no cars, noone you are trying to protect in the back.
@mrrodneyalong It just seems like a hummer or any SUV would grip better on dry pavement and be a lot more likely to flip over instead of skidding around nicely. And of course the things you mention would make it harder in addition to the pavement's wet/dry status haha. I would also think that people shooting at you might make it a tad harder as well :D
@ineverrememberthese one of first thing you want to do in an Suv when you are doing security driving work is air the tires to almost max. This decreases sidewall flex which in turn makes the tire break loose from the hardball easier and less likely to roll the suv. It also makes the tire more stable at high speed.- its actually easier when you are being shot at, you are hyped up and in flight mode, you are in the zone.
@mrrodneyalong I'll take your word on the tire inflation bit. And better yet, I'll let you know if I'm ever required to do evasive driving because someone is shooting at me so I can confirm or deny your claims about hyped up driving haha :)

looks easy but..imagine doing those kinda turns around other cars, your car being sprayed with bullets..and pple running everywhere..some serious bizz:)
I'd be afraid of blowing out my transmission on a J turn. Its gotta be hard on the car going from 30mph in reverse, to being slammed into drive and flooring it, lol. I have a feeling i would miss the drive gear... anyone got any tips on that?
Well, you've made a believer out of me with you driving your car on that lot. Kudos for posting your vid, nice job.
That said, I have personally put a car up on its side doing this on smooth dry pavement, with good tires....so for all the OTHER people who see this vid, I'll stick by my comment.
You proved me wrong for your car though, nice job. ;-)
how cool, thought it was perhaps a bit long but very interesting. that cadillac swings round pretty violently, would have been great to see the hummer do a j

@ineverrememberthese it's training though. Imagine doing that on dry pavement, the costs for replacing worn out tires would be tremendous.

You need a sudden flick of the steering wheel to do the reverse 180. No need to put a full rotation into the wheel.

Cadillacs are #1 in armored vehicles providing the best protection to people of the highest importance. Of course they use a Cadillac

two things:
first: all of the sound effects like little sound clips of music sound like they are straight out of garageband, which i thought was pretty funny.
secondly, does the fact that the course looks a little bit wet have anything to do with how easy or hard it was to do the j turns

hehe, it aaaall depends on where the weight on the car is. and the mondeo is pretty low..
I wouldnt recommend doing this with heavy/high cars on dry pavement though. you can really feel the car tilting then :-P
magnusBT 3 years ago
no problem mate ;-) those heavy cars they drive in this movie is almost impossible to drive on dry pavement.
Ill also stick to what my brother magnusBT said here :-)
