Certainly impressive video. I'd like to build one of these for my own entertainment and personal use. Where would someone find blades, tailrotors? A kit? It looks like a larger version of a Trex 700N. Great flying too! An A+ for bravery and creativity.
@emforty2 Not true (looks nothing like a Kompress CH-7 anyway). This news story is well-documented; the man built his chopper from scrap - including washing machine parts - but was ordered by the local air ministry to stop flying because a) it wasn't certified, and b) his neighbours complained about the constant noise (true). He carried on regardless and eventually crashed the machine, but was fortunately unhurt. So, NOT a kit, hence the story's newsworthiness.
@TheMightyHartley there are several other videos of the same guy flying this helicopter with a ch-7 full canopy installed on it on the same exact spot where he's flying it now do a bit of research hope you find the youtube video im talking about he also flies another kit built helicopter a mini-500

You know what's funny? Is sounds like a chinese engine. You know when you go to Northern Tool, or Harbour Freight, and you buy a cheap chinese engine. It sounds like that. Still really amazing accomplishment. Makes me want to make one.
@annonymoususerme I don't think you're looking at the big picture. A general style of design and engineering, a collection of materials, workmanship, fine crafting or lack of fine crafting and particulars of the exhaust system can be centralized to a country. For example. Look at Mercedes, VW, and Porsche. There are similarities in their engineering. In this chinese helicopter you can almost hear the ratteling of the internal engine parts. Chinese made engines do not last for that reason.
the guy is from Guandong, China who spent around RMB 70K (USD 11K)for this helicopter. According his own words; his highest education is a high school diploma; has studied more than 10 years for understanding the whole thing of manufacturing a helicopter then it took him more than 2 years to finish the project.
The final story of this helicopter: Chen kepts testing this helicopter, there was an accident happened several month later of this vedio shot, he felt the engine stopped work and then machine just fall into a crop field and smashed. He sold the damaged one to someone else for RMB 20K (USD $3000)
He is a very skilled helicopter pilot! How did he learn to fly so well? Is he building another? Will he fly again? I hope so. Did he learn Autorotations and understand the H/V curve issues well?
If your not a pilot, your not going to have a good time...
