  • dose this cam do good in low light

  • Excellent footage quality....The DVX100a its a gem!

  • How do you get the quality so good on youtube? I have the dvx but no matter what i do, when i upload the video on youtube the quality goes to hell. Please help me

  • Although the quality of this vid is good, it can be much better, especially w/YouTube's increased quality setting: "High quality." If you go to squido(dot)com/youtuberight you can find a good article (very long) about uploading in high quality. Follow the 10 steps. You can find the 10 steps just a bit bellow the middle of the page. The headline reads "Encoding H.264 Videos For YouTube". I'm editing on Premiere & aside from the H.264 encoder, I can tweak just about every one of those settings.

  • ok thanks a lot for your help

  • nice shots. did you film it in 4:3 and did the widescreen in post? or did you shoot it in anamorphic?

  • Yup, it was shot in 4:3. Widescreen was done in post with a simple matte.

  • Great eye, man. Very cool.

  • Thanks

  • What kind of filters did you use?

  • Love it. Has a Terrence Malick feel to it.

  • What filters did you use?

  • Hi there.. love the video.. just wondering.. what song is that?

  • Thanks. I forget the name but it's from the soundtrack of Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon.

  • hehe I was gonna ask if it was from Hero or a movie like that:P hehe

  • I'm pretty speechless. I just got a 100b. I'm very familiar with the camera itself...but filters? Would it be much trouble to get back to me? Thanks. I favorited this, it's great.

  • Excellent man.. I love it

  • thank you very much

  • yes buffalo looks intensly filmlike good work.

  • Whats the music from?

  • Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Forget which track though.

  • How did you get the 16:9 look? Is that simply cropped?

  • Basically. It's two black mattes that I set on top and bottom. i think i might have even eye-balled it. thanks

  • can you coment me back with the filters you used?

    thanks

  • I used software from Magic Bullet and from there I used the Buffalo filter. danke

  • @p0lar0id what is a buffalo filter? what does it do? Cheers.

  • @CircleofShit The buffalo filter is from the Magic Bullet software which came with my camera. It gives the video a bit more contrast and makes the colors a bit more vibrant.

  • @p0lar0id ok thanks.

  • WOW. it looks like its 35mm. what did you apply in magic bullet? (if thats what you used..?)

    and btw 5 stars!

  • wow. that was breathtakingly excellent footage!

  • this is some aweseome footage. can't wait to get my 100b.

  • cool video man, very relaxing

  • i notice the dvx is great and 'filmic'on close ups- but looses it on most long shots- best on slow moving or static closeups.

  • Very nice! seems like its an intro to a movie, then all of a sudden hordes of warriors are gonna come running into the screen screaming or something lol.

  • For the night shot with the plant, did you shoot that at night or did you just shot it in the day and fix it with magic bullet? Did you light the shot in any way?

  • None of these were shot at night, they just look kinda dark here. And no lights were used. thanks.

  • Polaroid, did u use any 35mm adapters to get the shallow depth of field or did u shoot as is with the DVX100? I am thinking of getting the 100B. Thanks

  • The shallow depth of field was achieved using just the dvx. But its main feature, of course, is its ability to mimic film.Thanks.

  • Thanks Polaroid, you have pretty much help me finalise my decision. I am very impressed with the footage. Maybe you can post something that is raw footage without any post production filters. Thanks for the reply!

  • If you check out my Korea, New York Contortionist, and Raisin Bran videos, they're all unfiltered, raw footage.

  • I don't think that the 100B has the ability for any (or much) shallower DOF than the 100 ot 100A. He's achieving the shallow DOF by zooming in and backing away from the object. If you do this, you will get very shallow DOF, though of course you can't always use long focal lengths :)

  • hey fella, what filters did you use to shoot this? tiffen soft/fx 1?

  • no sir. Actually the filters were applied in post with a filter software called Magic Bullet Editors. Thanks.
