Okay.. I've tried to do this.. and the damn thing keeps locking up on the second reboot. I've tried unplugging the USB cord and plugging it back in to no avail. Any help is appreciated!!
Remember to let it have it's time. It may take 30s, it may take a minute, it may take as much as five. just give it some time to do these things. wait as long as say, half an hour (you dont have to watch the computer screen the whole time, just come back in a half hour and if it's still locking up, restore, and try again, remember checking your firmware. even if you''re on 3.0.1, direct it to firmware 3.0 anyways.
and make sure you get the right firmware for the device. 1st Gen iPhone (the metal backed one) iPhone1,1_3.0_7A400 iPhone 3G iPhone1,2_3.0_7A400 iPhone 3GS iPhone2,1_3.0_7A400 iPod 1st Gen iPod1,1_3.0_7A341 iPod 2nd Gen iPod2,1_3.0_7A341
