Hey, dont take this in a harsh way ,but i Think if someone was shpcking you wouldnt like it. Your dog is your family and i think you should treat him with respect. Let me give you some tips my dad use to be a dog trainer. He always rewared his dogs never harmed them you want to make training with your dog a a fun exciting time it is called "Clicker Training" look it up on Youtube. Clicker Training is a better method also watch 'Its Me or the Dog" she will teach you alot Thumbs Up if u agree
