It was legal in the sense that there was no official law against it, but family honor crime was encouraged so gays were killed because of religion. Frankly, what is you grudge? Why don't you just live and let live? Are you religious or do you really just hate gays? You should leave a chance to gay iraqis to leave the country instead of killing them. Many people in the world don't like gays, but most not to the point of killing them.

Saddam Hussein was not muslim. He was of a religion which people are killed for believing in most muslims republics. His dictatorship was a way for him to ensure muslims wouldn't control everything. It was not right because he killed lots of people for that. But still... Being gay was legal in Irak until 2001. Only middle east country with gay rights (except maybe israel???Liban??? not sure). By the way..they are gay muslims. I respect beliefs if people respect the right to not believe.
