  • Fenomenaal deze race. Perfectie!

  • Haha Jeremy is like my third cousin (y)

  • go wotherspoon

  • Jeremy Wotherspoon is the Best when it comes to the 500!!! Let the times speak for themselves!!!!

  • @Sask321 Saskatchewan is a shit hole so stfu

  • YAY I have the same last name, Wotherspoon :) :)

  • where does it originate from?

  • Scotland, but I'm from Australia :)

  • God why couldn't he have done this at the olympics. I stayed up to watch this "favourite" win and he comes in ninth. Sad. I should have gone to bed, what a waste of time.

  • same dude.

  • South Korea won the mens and womens 500. That has never happened before at the olympics. Next year, many athletes from Canada and the Netherlands will train in South Korea for long and short track.

  • @deltaecho1 lol untrue i am a speed skater from canada you clearly know nothing about the sport they come to calgary to train on the best ice. And no one on the team has made any comments on moving to Korea lol nice try.

  • Calgary has the best ice in the world, it's too bad the own the podium program banned the americans and japanese from training there. Shani Davis wasn't allowed to train with Denny in Calgary. I think Canadians could win a lot if hockey wasn't so heavily focused on. Speedskating isn't a national sport as it is like the dutch and south korea.

  • they werent banned from training there. they have many camps in the spring and summer. i train there everyday.

  • @deltaecho1 well its eight months later and i still see all the national skaters still training right here in calgary

  • @narutokun19,still Jeremy stays the most beautiful and fast skater on the 500m.his moves are poetry in motion.he moves as if he does the 5000m.its pure art.

  • and I ain't even Canadian.I value art and value special people when i see it/them

  • People who know their speed skating, understand that Jeremy is THE sprinter from the past 15 years, gold medal or not. Wannabees like Bos and Wennemars(Shimizu is the exception), came and went during Jeremy's reign. Wotherspoon is a great champ, a great and iconic speed skater, fast and with unmatched riding technique, and a wonderful addition to the legacy of speed skating in general. As far as I'm concerned, Jeremy doesn't need gold, he IS gold.

A lot of respect and gratitude from Holland.

  • @indivum

You're right about Wotherspoon, he is the best sprinter the last 15 years. Too bad he couldn't achieve his best races @ Olympic tournament. That's also a quality you can have, getting the best out of yourself when you need to. There's a lot of pressure at the Olympics, it's just one race.. but a legendary race!

But don't say Bos & Wennemars are nothing, Wennemars is two times World Speed Skating champion, you don't achieve that if you're a wannabee!

  • @willownss I think you should read my msg again dumb-ass! I said Wotherspoon is the best sprinter the last 15 years. Unfortunately he wasn't fast enough @ olympic races... don't say that's a lie/insult.. because it's true otherwise he would have won gold like he always did!

So go cry somewhere else, i didn't insult wotherspoon because he's my hero and to bad he didn't win a gold medal, he deserved it!

  • Comment removed

  • I didn't mock @ the first post. You interpreted that the wrong way. Some sportsman have the quality to race their best races @ Olympic Season. Some don't, or just have bad luck. Wotherspoon didn't get the best out of himself on the Olympics, right? No blame, no insult... It would have been the crown on his career.

  • @sjampinho Wotherspoon is getting worst, he wont be skating in any world cups this year. The fact that he carries the WR doesnt make him the best sprinter in the last 15 years. Just recently Shani Davis had a 1:06 and I call that the greatest sprinter time. Jeremy has stopped dominating the sport, but he is still highly respected. He is actually thinking of becoming a coach for finland soon. I do like this guy alot, I actually met this guy and he is very humble. He deserves all that respect.

  • @zakumownzu what about lee who won 4 out of the last 5 championchips at the age of 32!

Davis maybe is the best skater because he can sprint and allround at the same time but his middledistances are superb

  • @1978utreg Yeah, I guess that's true, I was trying to state that Jeremy stopped dominating. So far, I am most impressed with christine nesbitt, she won the thousand meter in heerenveen by 1 and a half seconds xD now thats a lead

  • Comment removed

  • @zakumownzu How can you say he isn't the best sprinter of ALL TIME!? He has the most World Cup wins of ANYONE and set, broke and reset world records; 500m, 1000m & sprint points. Like every dominant athlete, they eventually taper off but the fact that Jeremy was the best for so long surely makes him one of the best, if not the best sprinter of all time. And he's going to Germany to coach at the speed skating school there. So sit down mutton!

  • @gilmorejunio All Time?

    Eric Heider..... nuff said

  • @zakumownzu heiden*

  • @zakumownzu

That guy was a genetic freak. I doubt his 5 gold medals will ever be equaled.

  • @rickcain2320 haha, sure, ok, then lets go with oskar matheson, he held the best all round point record for 15 years

  • To even get remotely close to this kind of level you need years of disciplined training. What all these skaters put up with for the entire spring/summer is tougher than you can imagine

Saying there are wannabees is just ignorant, especially when they've won other prizes

  • "To even get remotely close to this kind of level you need years of disciplined training."

Too bad sprinting is in the genes.

    Nederland = stayeren.

    @sjampinho

Ik heb nooit beweert dat Bos & Wennemars are nothing!

  • Im from vancouver island canada so obviously i pray wotherspoon wins the 500m but just wanted to say the dutch are perhaps the best sportsmen ive ever seen and i hope you guys win any event canada doesnt.

    Good luck!

    Kurtis

  • I hope Wotherspoon fucks up Shani Davis, and I'm and American. Go Canada and Netherlands.

  • @BarhatezRevolution

For me its between wotherspoon and sven kramer

  • I hope for such a great sportsman, he will win the 500m in Vancouver. I would like it when he will make the first 33 sec race in history.

I like his mentality and his style. He teached the dutch that you only can win with a good technique on the sprint. He deserves to win a gold one this year. Let's hope and pray for Jeremy.

    Dear greetings

    Erik Woensdregt (netherlands:) )

  • @metalass79

  • I've heard many people say that it's not possible to skate faster than one does today.

Well, certainly the 500m is the distance with the smallest potential, since the distance is so short. But I'm still pretty sure that in a year or two, we will have someone (perhaps Wotherspoon) skating 33.87 on the 500m.

  • More power, more (or simply different) anaerobic threshold training and the WR will keep coming down. Technology will advance us into the mid 33's by 2020.

  • that must be so annoying how hes so close to 33 i hope he is able to achieve that

  • respect! ik doe er 15sec langer over :S

  • ik 10 :)

  • goedzo :) ga zo door...

  • fenominal!!!

    what a skater

    what a technic

    beautifull!!!

  • idd een fenomeen ja. hulde

  • geil einfach geil der typ

  • Jeremy is the man!

  • soo happy for you man that must feel unreal!!

  • professional skating is just getting unreal! when will the world records end? cross the finish line before the gun shot? i dun think so...

  • I don´t think anyone will be able to skate that much faster then this, if we don´t discover some new awesome technology.

The pressure in the curves is just too high and the skaters would not be able to keep it together if they were going at 30-32 speeds.

  • wat een rit

    geweldig commentaar

    prachtige tijd

    super gewoon :P

  • He's incredible!

  • super!!!

  • FABULOUS
