Republicans worship the Congressional Budget Office to criticize any plans by the Democrats but when it comes to tort reform they just create fairy tale stories.

The same CBO estimates tort reform would amount to just 2% of the governments annual health-care bill. The 10% he quotes here is straight up misleading. It is not 10% of the cost of medicine, it is 10% of liability insurance premiums.

I've been following this healthcare reform thing in the US a bit.. As a Dutch citizen we used to have a public option.. And that worked fine (for me)..

But now they changed the system in a way that everyone has to get insurance themselves..

And I don't like it one bit, as it gives a lot of power to the insurance companies, who are only there to make a profit..

The new system they want to implement looks (a lot) like the healthcare system we Dutch people have..

This is how the world really works, you have big corporations that set prices everyone else needs to fall in line. If smaller companies crop up to compete and offer lower prices, the corporations

1. Buy them out

2. Use their huge scope to under cut and drive the smaller ones out of business then raise fees back up.

How do you think the system got to where it is? With some states having one company having 90% of the market

Copanies cannot "jack up" prices in a Free Market; this company would not succeed and another Company would fall in line to accept the market that is in need of such a good.

There is no opportunity for a Monopoly in the Free Market system...none.

With government intrusion, you have what we have today...where powerful companies can lobby to officials whom in return make laws that make it extremely difficult for any other corporation to start in this market, thus they Monopolize the market.

My point is the health insurance company's or any insurance companies for that matter offer no value.

Insurance company's only transfer funds and charge a load of money to do that. We can put our insurance dollars in one fund and eliminate them from the equation.

The problem today is that our policies ARE all lumped together and in doing such the government mandates that these policies shall be EQUAL. meaning I, you and a 5 year old's insurance premiums are based on the same overall care...even though I will not need some of the coverage you or the 5 year old will need.

If the government would get out of Insurance and Health entirely, the cost would drop drastically

It would mean MILLIONS would suddenly become uninsured as there would be no government law forcing them to insure workers.

Employee safety regulations would be repealed. Companies wouldnt spend money on helmets, boots, and safety gear for their workers. This is currently regulated by a government organization called OSHA.

There would be no building code regulations. No need for fire exits, No regulations on wiring, etc

We had a system much like the one you are describing. It was before labor unions and public safety regulations.

Corporations chewed up workers and spit them out because they knew there was an unlimited supply of them. Now with globalization, the supply is even greater. Corporations don't care about their employee's safety, they weigh the profits versus the cost and make a decision. If that means workers get hurt they don't care. Get your head out of your ass.

This was during the industrial age. The results were catastropic. We had corporations burning coal un restricted. Fire departments let buildings burn down because the victims inside werent from their department.

Factories locked fire exits and doors to prevent employees from taking breaks. Thousands died in factory fires etc
