Once again he changed his mind because they don't understand what's going on and Grassley won't tell them. Maybe because he doesn't know what was written.
Too bad. Government is the solution, we are the problem. That's why the people spoke last year. Government tells us what to do and not to do. And that's how it works for those that voted for them and all of us.
Republicans worship the Congressional Budget Office to criticize any plans by the Democrats but when it comes to tort reform they just create fairy tale stories.
The same CBO estimates tort reform would amount to just 2% of the governments annual health-care bill. The 10% he quotes here is straight up misleading. It is not 10% of the cost of medicine, it is 10% of liability insurance premiums.
God please why can there not be a real honest debate about this. It's so sad.
Why didn't Kiran do a search on Open Secrets and confront the senator about where he gets his campaign funding? That would have been a much more interesting interview than this fluff piece.
Laissez-faire Capitalism is like Communism in a way. Sounds good on paper but if it really worked, everyone would be doing it.
There was a reason why people went over the Berlin Wall just as there was a reason why the Sherman Antitrust Act and the Clayton Antitrust Act were passed.
There were two systems were something didn't work right.
I wish I got paid to be stupid like some in government, we want public option not rammed down our throats but rammed up the ass of private health insurance.
Grassley is such a moron... of course there was a negative reaction to us being thrown in jail and fined heavily for not buying private insurance when he voted against giving us an affordable option. Why is he so surprised nobody else is.
Enough is Enough! We need a strong PUBLIC OPTION! Visit the comment section of my profile and sign the petitions there. There is even one by Weiner that suggests that the dems like BAUCUS who vote against the public option and side with the republicans lose their chairmanships.
I've been following this healthcare reform thing in the US a bit.. As a Dutch citizen we used to have a public option.. And that worked fine (for me)..
But now they changed the system in a way that everyone has to get insurance themselves..
And I don't like it one bit, as it gives a lot of power to the insurance companies, who are only there to make a profit..
The new system they want to implement looks (a lot) like the healthcare system we Dutch people have..
If you let the free market, supply and demand, take place; price, inflation and quality would all be in check by the People, not by greedy Corporations, greedy politicians, or the heavy progressive movement named Obama/Pelosi
Free Market is the only answer...you get Government involved, that is when things Fuck up...as you can see now; things are fucked, why? GOVERNMENT mandates, no other reason at all.
Anyways, health insurance is not a Right...seeing the Doctor you want to is.
Thats the point though in real life there IS NO FREE MARKET.
This is how the world really works, you have big corporations that set prices everyone else needs to fall in line. If smaller companies crop up to compete and offer lower prices, the corporations
1. Buy them out
2. Use their huge scope to under cut and drive the smaller ones out of business then raise fees back up.
How do you think the system got to where it is? With some states having one company having 90% of the market
I dont expect, on this YouTube page, anyone to understand or see where my perspectives come from nor agree with them...
simple fact, With a Free Market, no government involvement --- the way our economic system was intended by the founders --- there will be NO monopoly and the PEOPLE will control the prices and profits.
Why?
The People are the ones in demand of the goods, not the Corporations...if the People do not buy at a given price, the price must come down or else, company fails.
Yeah ? What happens when the company jack up the prices on the product people need to live ? You're a delusional moron talking about an ideal principle, not was is seen in reality.
Copanies cannot "jack up" prices in a Free Market; this company would not succeed and another Company would fall in line to accept the market that is in need of such a good.
There is no opportunity for a Monopoly in the Free Market system...none.
With government intrusion, you have what we have today...where powerful companies can lobby to officials whom in return make laws that make it extremely difficult for any other corporation to start in this market, thus they Monopolize the market.
that will not happen in real life. The monopolies happen as a result of the freemarket. Its the logical conclusion.
Your idea would only work in a regulated market, where a government body actively prevents individual markets from getting too large and powerful.
Final point your idea to deregulate now wont work it would be a disaster, as there are already established monopolies. All your deregulation will do is allow corporations to attack people more aggressively
Your points are well taken. Yes the free market is good for services and industry.
My point is the health insurance company's or any insurance companies for that matter offer no value.
Insurance company's only transfer funds and charge a load of money to do that. We can put our insurance dollars in one fund and eliminate them from the equation.
Thats good business unless you work in the insurance industry.
The problem today is that our policies ARE all lumped together and in doing such the government mandates that these policies shall be EQUAL. meaning I, you and a 5 year old's insurance premiums are based on the same overall care...even though I will not need some of the coverage you or the 5 year old will need.
If the government would get out of Insurance and Health entirely, the cost would drop drastically
Insurance should be for catastrophic instances only and the Insurance Company should not have to pool Me in a similar plan as Everyone else.
Also, we cannot purchase across State Borders and even though you sign a contract with your Doctor explaining the liabilities and consequences; Doctors are sued over and over for millions of dollars when a foreseen consequence happens...where is the doctors protection in this scenario?
Big Corporations would be hard pressed to keep higher prices in a Free Market society due to the lack of ability to acquire a Monopoly...
Costs in EVERY facit of business that is regulated by the US Govternment would drop drastically; the value of the dollar would cease to inflate at an anstounding rate due to the lack of Government being able to spend unnecessary tax dollars...thus, compounding the value to you and me as a consumer...lower prices, higher value of the dollar.
A free market is one that is dictated by the people and free of Government restraints...today's market is far from Capitalism and far from a "Free Market"...
And as for inflation, we HAVE massive inflation...this is due to the Federal Reserve printing money and due to the Federal Government spending unnecessarily and unconstitutionally...
You are right, Corporations dont care...i can name TWO that sure don't...United States of Amercia and The Federal Reserve...
....and if you dont believe the US is a Corporation, research the "Act of 1871" and apply the 14th Amendment to this Act. Thus, we are all servants of the Corporation of the United States of America and have since, lost our Sovereignty and Rights as an idivdual that were supposed to be protected by our Governement; but instead, our Government limits them and replaces them for "priveledges"
Why does a sovereign individual need a Passport (permission) to leave a place when he/she is Sovereign?
people cant open their minds to understand the ideas of Capitalism or a severly limited regulated free-market due to the concept taught in public education that, "today...we live in a free market, capitalistc society"...this is a Fascist economy controlled by a Socialistic Gorvenment if you can describe it anyway...Government has no acquired banks, student loans, automobile companies, has a monopoly on parcel mail...etc...We the People are liable for all debts that occur...absurd.
Yes this country is truly many types. We have some Capitalism, some Socialism, some Fascism, and some Communism. If people took a good look at what we give away to other countries and our people we would be called Socialists. Employee safety regulations would be repealed. Companies wouldnt spend money on helmets, boots, and safety gear for their workers. This is currently regulated by a government organization called OSHA.
There would be no building code regulations. No need for fire exits, No regulations on wiring, etc
Corporations shouldnt have to pay for an empoyee's insurance...
Pay a wage for Labor, done.
The employee is responsible for everything after the fact.
And yes...companies would still spend money on safety gear and regulations due to them wanting to provide the best possible work location, thus ensuring they get the best employees

Why do the media focus so much on just one commitees bill.
There are 5 bills and the finance commitee just happens to be behind.
One group cant get anything done and they act like its a failure of the whole entire process.
Either way, you know the problem with personal responsibilty. We arent alone in society.
You dont just have personal responsibility.
What happens to you affects me.
So you dont get insurance and cant pay medical bills, i end up paying for your personal issue.
