  • 7:22 because thats the worst of your problems

  • ist it possible to win this game?

  • Tropico 3 is way to easy compared to the original

  • they should make a tropico game for the ipod

  • I know you could make them happy by putting a cheat code. Hold the Ctrl button while typing contento and their happy level goes up.

  • great game

  • @andrej300 It really is one of the classics :)

  • I thought I was crap at this game, but my citizens never hated me that much! :D

  • @hele4491 LOL yeah, I think I pushed it too far. I had stuff to make them happy in the works, but they didn't seem to care. But gotta love all out Civil War.

  • @mattdawg420 this looks so cool@ i have tropico 3 but cant wait to get tropico 4

    im a dictator lol

  • i hear UWEH UWEH UWEH UWEH UWEH BANG BANG UWEH UWEH UWEH!

  • @yaykaboom Ohh That sounds like a Rap song I heard once.

  • the island looks pretty neat, i wonder is the pre-build island or u build it urself?

  • @Proboi91 The landscape was from the prefab mission, but the layout was my doing.

  • @mattdawg420 thanks

  • i love this game. the new one is great too, but my computer is too low. does anyone know how to make my people happy?

  • @srry4beatinu The new one is one of my favorites. There are many things you can do to keep them happy. But JUST in case don't forget to have a strong military in case they get any bright ideas :)

  • @mattdawg420 i had it for pc, im hopefully getting it for xbox so i can actually play it.

  • LOL those beggars! get them out of my yard soldier!

  • i knew about uprisings but i have never seen one happen, i treat my people to well

  • fix your title, this is NOT tropico 1 as it says

  • @Glaskruset WTF are you talking about... this IS Tropico 1....

Tropico 2 was Pirates, and Tropic 3 is the NEWest one...

  • Viva la revolución ;)

  • @bubblegum052 Indeed, but this was like an all out Usurp Civil War! It was damn near 50 percent loyalists and 50 rebels, and it was a military coup at that I believe. Although like i mentioned, most of the fighting appeared to be melee brawls at the start of it. Anywho, you have to love this series :)

  • i wish i could make a full scale revolution, i tried in t3 but, everyone ended up happy xdd im a bad revolucionary

  • @chacaron03 Make a new sandbox game and turn rebel yell on and turn down politicial stability, and you will have some riots ;)

  • @mattdawg420

lol i hope it works :D

  • i only get armorys and guard posts or something no military base

  • @ppatrikfromEST I know in the 3rd one you can build bases, but I can't remember if you can in the first one. It makes the military faction happier.

  • why dont i get to build a military base?

  • @ppatrikfromEST You need the Paradise Island expansion.

  • @DrCruel kewl, didn't know about it. I did get the new add on for Tropico 3, and it doesn't work thanks to the CD Key and DRM issues. I found a work around of unplugging the internet when it does the check and THEN it works... wtf.. but yeah other than that problem the addon put much more to do in the game, but you can't feel like its stuff that could have been in the original. Although the price wasn't too horrible I suppose.

  • @mattdawg420 I don't think the original programmers thought their game would be as popular as it was. I can't speak with authority on this, but I do know software developers have coding and publishing deadlines to make. The first game was an entirely playable product, and I had fun with it for years before springing for the expansion.

I'd rather encourage software developers to add onto games I like, rather than give them grief about not including every idea they had in the first go.

  • @DrCruel Yeah, the true classics have that happen it seems. I do agree with some level of expansion purchases, as long as it doesn't feel like a money sink or like the publisher is trying to milk ya you know? Some expansions are worth it, others don't offer much, but I suppose in the Tropico 3 case, I did enjoy everything they added. Although I am still unsure if its like worth half the cost of the original game price, but again, it wasn't bad, so I suppose so.

  • @mattdawg420 I agree with the "soaking" part, but I am a terribly patient consumer. I am entirely ready to wait several years to play a game I like, but that I think is too expensive. By the time I bought the Tropico (1) expansion, for example, it was $10 - and that was for an extra copy of the game AND the expansion.

I wouldn't hate a game designer for selling a game for $500. I just wouldn't buy a copy. To me, Microsoft's usurious monopoly on operating systems is a far worse situation.

  • @DrCruel Oh I forgot to address Microsopoly (see what I did there?) I started playing with some GUI Unix varieties just to spite 'em. But I don't remember any game every costing $500. Most games were like $30-50 maybe $60. Which is still a ton of money, and that is why you have to find games that have replayability. Not just can I beat it, but when I beat it, will I want to do it again sometime? And Tropico series is very replayable.

  • @DrCruel I stupidly try stuff well before its ready sometimes. Although usually I pick games I will end up repaying many times. As far as the expensive programs, I don't own them either, except maybe I did buy Ableton officialy :) But for the most part, its ironic. The games and programs are so expesnsive thanks to pirates, but the more they raise their price, the more people are forced to do it ;/

  • @mattdawg420 No, I think it has more to do with greedy game companies. Certainly Steam's intent in selling games that were free a few years ago is not motivated by "stopping piracy", but rather in making money from otherwise free content. The model, taken from cable TV, is to make people pay monthly (and dearly) for content that was once either free or very cheap.

As for rich, greedy developers demanding even more money for games based on "piracy", my solution is to not play them at all.

  • @DrCruel Oh you are preaching to the choir here on that one bro. Although I think some of the publishers of the "abandonware" that haven't gone under get like 20% of the sale price or something like that. But as for cable, it PISSES ME OFF, when I see commercials on cable. It is like...UM, is this not PAY television?

The state increased taxes here for years to build a new ballpark downtown (for some rich guy). Citizens must pay to use it, and its named "phone company name" ball park.wtf

  • At least your revolt finally ended. I had one that went on for about 5 years, and would have gone on longer if I hadn't quit and started a new island.

  • @LastStandforLiberty Finally ended heh I think it did go on for like 5 years, I will need to recheck the logs heh. But at the end, I noticed we won.. however, the country was now broke so I wasn't going to win that scenario. I think I pushed them too hard, but it happens. But yeah it seems they could fight for eons if the right things happen.

  • Damn miners always revolting against authority....OFF WITH THEIR HEADS!!! :))

  • @Nightmeare Indeed, I will show them who is in power! And in fact, I did, we won the war, but the country is lost, if that makes sense. But that will teach those bastards to try that sort of thing again, haha!

  • HOW!?!

  • @StellarNinjas Where When and Why! LOL but I am not sure it just happened ;/

  • this uprising will be on CNN i bet...

  • @hijcmaddox1 hehe that would be awesome :)

  • viva la revolution!

  • can you have a civil war in tropico 3 cause if so i'm going to make a shit as country

  • This is exactly what happened here. The citizens rose up to fight the Patriots. I wasn't TRYING to make them rise up, I thought I had a couple more months to finish the military base i was building.

  • Tropico 3 is basically Tropico 1 with a massive visual boost (some buildings are identical though) and some minor changes. The enhanced visuals do make it way more enjoyable however.

  • rofl mosh pit

  • It was unexpected all out rumble! There were gun shots but this was like a melee civil war, it was crazy. I knew something insane was about to happen so I paused and got fraps up :) I just need to get a bigger HD on this laptop :(

  • @mattdawg420 lol you weren't a good presidente lol

  • Not in this case :( I had not done that scenario yet, as I usually just do a free game or what not. But I was set on mining that gold or what not, and guess the people thought my military was not strong enough to suppress them.

In the end they were wrong.. the died.. and the loyalists won! However, the war bankrupted the country.

But yeah this was a couple months from being resolved before the revolt.

  • @mattdawg420 lol

  • IT SUCKS COMPARED TO 3

  • It would like saying a modern day car is better than the model T. But back in the day, the model T sure beats walking.

  • where did u get tropico 1? i cant find it anywhere

  • Steam has it for fairly inexpensive.

  • lol that looks funny

  • It was, pure chaos, gotta love it.

  • Presidente! your people starve, grow more food...QUICKLY!

  • LOL yeah.. the war lasted so long the coffers were bare. So I may have stayed in power but the country starved to death. Two steps forwards...

  • Ack I deleted someone's comment on accident. They said it sounded like a gay porno lol. I was commenting the title? Then I played it and at the start I saw what you meant, lol.

  • it okay.

  • The title?

  • xD its not much of a revoltion they just run around like idiots and get picked off by the soidlers

  • Not exactly, if you watch the whole thing, it actually turns into a melee civil war of sorts. And in fact, it was like 88 Loyalists vs 85 Traitors, it was a military coup I guess instead of a revolt. There is some gun fire but for the most part about mid ways in they all scatter. In fact, I was surprised they ended up putting the coup down, however the war went on for so long the economy was ruined. Hmmm.. I know a country like that, that has been in a war for years and losing money.

  • I've never seen fists used in combat. Always it's guns versus guns I thought. This is the original I'm talking about.

I remember I couldn't house too many people in one side of my island in a create an island so I ended up making them live in bunkhouses near the coffee fields up on the mountain. When they weren't being productive I went in and killed them. Took a lot of kills before they got angry about me killing off the poor.

  • @PObserver lol i used to do the same thing and if someone became a rebel I would kill his family.

  • LOL I do the same thing sometimes, depending on what mood I am in that day. Sometimes I will try to fix the problem, others I will just got Totalitarian and drop some more Secret Police and Bases near them and do like you said :)

  • game looks boring

  • Well you haven't played it, so you don't know. All you saw is what happens when the city revolts. But yeah, go back to playing GTA4 your cousin Vinney wants to go bowling.

And this game is OLD, doesn't have all the graphics, and blood and guts of today, unfortunately.

So you are saying, playing as dictator, building your own tropical island and killing and abducting rebels (and their families) at will isn't interesting. Well, again maybe you haven't played it yet

  • no im saying your game is gay & tropico 3 is way better

  • hehe fair enough. For the most part its not SUPER action until stuff like this happens. It is just a different spin on the city sim style. But yeah I like Tropico 3 much better. However, 1 has some elements that are neat.

  • wow revolution i neer experienced that i did however experience a coup d'eta but my military was way stronger then the rebels and i manage to kill them off and yes tropico is one of the best games i've played that has a lot of city building too bad i kept getting replaced in my elections when i was in office for 40 years all the times i played it so i always ended up being a dictator...

  • This was the Gold Mining scenario. I was actually doing well, and just guess I let things slip at the point. It does seem the longer you are in power, there is a point the people can take no more. Unfortunatley, my base wasn't comleted in time :( I did win the war, but the country was lost, hehe. But was interesting way to go out. But yeah, Tropico is the way to go if you want to be a dictator :)

  • guess mr.phate likes tropico :) thank you haemimont for tropico 3

  • Of course :) Yeah I would be playing Tropico 3 right now had I not started playing Cities XL heh. And if I wasn't so damn good at it I would have quit by now, lol. But yeah, I like City building and the revolution aspect of Tropico is awesome. The second Tropico was crap I think compared to first one. The third one looks like it plays more like the original.
