  • I didnt think the remake was that bad but yes the original was better...I thought Denzel played the role of Garber well but Travolta was doing way too much. He didnt compare with Shaw's calm, cool demeanor

  • You are awesome.

  • Dude - awesome video! Amazing editing. Nice work!

  • Saw this in theaters as a kid in 74, I just saw the remake I didnt like how travota portrayed it, original was better with Robert Shaw

  • Lost Classic.

  • Amazing trailer for a great film. You really sold the movie!

  • A great 70s film. Saw the recent remake. Was OK if you hadn't seen the original

Very good trailer. Loved the bit from 2:54 onwards.

  • Watched this the other night....CGI can't touch Real Acting.....

  • Well done.

  • the original was surprisingly HILARIOUS. very very very funny movie, while still suspenseful and exciting

  • I Love What you did at the start of the trailer. You Opinons are agreed by me.

  • Gesundheit.

  • Walter Matthau. What a beast.

  • You should do The Secret of NIMH next. That movie had one shitty trailer.

  • patton oswalt told me personally to go here

  • @KevinKolb4 how is ur turf toe?

  • I found the original version a major snoozer.

  • Arriving twice 74-09

  • Hey, great job. It really works. The ending of this movie rocks. Hey you guys ought to write these comments on the new one where the execs might read them. Copying a movie from past is so unoriginal, imagine if they did that then, then we'd be seeing the 5th remake of 'the birds' or something? Starsky and Hutch was well done but thats from a tv show with original ideas on a theme or cues that you can identify with. Im really sick of movie choices now either cartoon (worse than futurama) or path

  • Great job on the editing!

  • where is the music from ??

  • Fine work! But is the music from this film? Methinks not...

  • no way in hell is this better than the 2009 version

  • @qaching ur fuckin high

  • @qaching the 2009 version blows

  • @Love4SK

    not possible

  • @qaching different strokes brother, cheers

  • @qaching its 100% better in heart spirit and acting all remade movies suck its a fact

  • I completely agree with you about Hollywood's incredibly unimaginative and low-risk strategy of remaking crappy versions of perfectly good movies. Like you said they should make new original movies or at least try to remake bad movies into good ones.

But hey, Hollywood is show BUSINESS and no one there is going to put art and creativity ahead of profits.

It really pisses me off that they are remaking Total Recall and Conan The Barbarian. Another couple of legendary movies that will be butchered.

  • Live in NYC. amazing how the subway here hasn't changed a bit since the 70s when Tokyo's metro systems (multiple) have improved so much and so fast.

  • The original is a great movie...I have to admit, I haven't seen the remake and I have no desire to.

  • Only one million dollars for him and his crew!.... How times have changed with inflation

  • This has got to be the most brilliant tribute to this incredible film I have loved since childhood that I have ever seen. This work is made all the more special by the knowledge of context for all the quick cuts. I can understand not using the OST as it might slow things down a bit much for this modern-era trailer, but it would have been nice. Am aware trailermakers use various scores from previous soundtracks. This is simply a blast to watch. Just curious what program you did this in.

  • A modern trailer for a classic thriller. Good Job CappyNJ

  • MrAngelomangelo There is no such thing as over acting. There's acting then there's what Travolta did, which was astonishing.

  • Comment removed

  • This is a much better version that the 2009 remake with John Travolta.

  • Great trailer and great movie. Shaw was amazing where Travolta over acted

  • You can't beat the original!! just brilliant..

  • You criticize Hollywood for making a remake of this great film in 1998, but your new edited trailer is just what Hollywood do now. Plus, with your new edited soundtrack, you just prove why and you give credit and reason to Hollywood, as to why they MUST remake classics... i.e because young people now cant endure, cant appreciate old movies, so they have to remake them with super young actors and generic "action" soundtrack.

  • @pedragluxor This is far from what hollywood does now, if this was a real trailer, this would be called a re-release that is completely different from a remake.

PS it's not a MUST but just an easy buck, that is what hollywood is today, an easy buck.

  • I'm now reading the novel, never seen the original but did see the remake in theaters at the time i loved the remake now as i'm reading the book i see it's really nothing like the book but i did think travolta and denzel played their characters well. I just wished their was more action in the remake, it was too much chatter but travolta did a good job, but i will say as much as i love john travolta performances, from what i've seen from robert shaw he's on his A game everytime.

  • i must say that the remake is better cuz denzel plaiying very well

  • Way better then the new one. The guy gets killed by the third rail in this one he'll ya. I was waiting for that sceen in the new one and nope. Bummer reproduce movies and

Try and stick to the script.

  • robert shaw kicks john travolta's ass when i first watched this last night i was blown away i thought at first anothony hopkins was playing the villan oops

  • you will have to forgive me, I like the new one better.

  • Gesundheit ! heheheh

  • slick

  • well done, man. well done!

  • LMAO...Oh WOW...I LOVE your caption on the trailer !! so true !

  • So much better than the John Revoltya version.

  • Love this film, especially the performances of Walter Matthau and Robert Shaw.

  • Well made, definitely, but home made trailers are always always ALWAYS far too long!!! 2'30" maximum people!!

  • Very nicely done.

  • That is the grooviest tie I've ever seen.

  • The new one is very good.

  • Great updated trailer.Still the best version of the movie.

  • this movie was really good for being made in the 70s

  • Considering the tone of the actual film, this trailer is hilariously inappropriate

  • The new one was ok, but the story of the original movie was more compelling.

  • i like the new one

  • Christ, this trailer is better than the entire remake.

  • @AxekickerDotCom You sir are A LIAR. The remake was really good. There is a difference between been sentimental and being objective and honest. In terms of movie making, the remake was pretty darn good period.

  • @AxekickerDotCom you are correct sir

  • "What the hell do they expect for their lousy 35 cents, to live forever??" Best NY line of all time.

  • LOL!!! Are those real guns?

  • The newer one w/John Travolta & Denzel Washington was pretty good. I just couldn't stand all the cussing in it! Movies today have WAY TOO MUCH CUSSING, it ruins them (MOST of the time)! However, I still like this version. Was SO much better and the ending was better!

  • newer

  • Great work Cappy. Much better than the original trailer.

One of my favorite movies of all time.

  • Old one wins. The tv movie of the 90's was lame also. New one is pretty lousy that I want to revisit the tv movie version that starred Battlestar galactica's Admiral Adama.

    Ahhh....CHHHOOOOO!!!

  • the newer one is crap, like everything from tony scott.the old one is still great.

  • which one is better?

the old? or the newer one?

  • Newer

  • My two teenage son's and I discuss this subject all the time. They tell me about a new movie out, I tell them I don't want to see it because the ORIGINAL versions are the best. They say special effects are better...I say it just clouds up the screen. I may have seen one or two that kept the intergrity of the story. Wasn't it amazing that a story could be told without every word being a cus word just to fill in dialog? Not a prude, just it seems like fill in now. P.S. Love Walter Matthau!

  • use your best dr evil voice

  • Great work here! Just saw the original today, been wanting to see it for ages. Both versions of it are fantastic!

  • really gud!!!

  • Nice work EXCEPT that music, which is the usual Bruckheimer assembly line crap, from the very kinds of movies you vilify in the opening seconds of this video.

  • Amazing!!!!!!!!!! Youve made a Brilliant film even better!!! If i saw that trailer at the flicks i would absolutely want to watch it!!!

  • Don't complain about lack of invention in Hollywood: The Taking of Pelham 123 was originally a novel adapted into a film. That is no different than a remake. I'm not a fan of remakes for the most part, but don't act like Hollywood has ever been known for originality.

  • I don't know if anyone can agree with this statement without realizing that it would be a lie. Both movies have their merits and downfalls. The 1974 was brilliant for it's time. The 2009 version reflects on how it would of went down in a Post 9/11 city with the modern technology we have.

  • the remake was soooooo much better

  • i beg to differ...

  • well this was alot better than i thought it would be but i hated the guy that played the train robber guy, i hate how they made him sound like an evil genius, and in the remake he is just some crazed fuck that wants money

  • true,true...john travolta is talented rant and robert shaw is lay back intellectual book reading thief...

  • The remake was good, there was too much emphasis on making Travolta sound crazy and out of control, where as Shaw was cool and calm.

  • I have not seen the old verison. But the new version I think is amazing.

  • it's 2 weeks past...have u seen the old version...

  • Better than new version

  • theyre both gret

  • true but, i rate 70% old version...

  • i agree.....

  • in 1973 1. 000. 000$ was a lot of money... today, not

    :D:D

its like in austin powers: "why take billions, when we can have millions" ^.-

  • Really excellent work. Take a bow!

  • Wow Great Amazing Awesome the Best Trailer Long time I see

I cant wait till February -10-2074 to see the Movie...

  • amazing work man, great editting, fast stuff :)

  • Awesome editing.. Know the old movie inside out, but this is even cooler..Good job!

  • anybody know what the music is? not the original score, but the music in this trailer.

  • man u totally rock this trailer! great job. bad guy wanting a mill dollars damn it kinda seems like nothing in this time, kinda...now in the latest movie is 10 million damn times change! lol

  • Lee Wallace as the Mayor of NYC;

OMG, what a clone of Ed Koch in the future!

    time machine!

"Christ what do they expect for their 35-cents, to live FOREVER?"

..it's 35 years later, ten times the fee; and I would like to live until my station stop in one piece without smelling so much like a Subway passenger.

Oh my, I STILL love NewYork!

  • the highjacker looks like a nerd in this version

  • What a great movie.

  • i just saw this movie on hulu and was blown the fuck away, you did an immaculate job with this keep it comming

  • Excellent trailer Cappy, as good as those screened in the cinemas for new releases. This was a brilliant film which deserves to be re released, or at least rerun on television regularly. I agree with your comment about it being a shame they don't focus on remaking films that were crap first time round, leaving the classics alone.

  • Damn that was great! I was blown away by the music and the cuts, great freaking job bro!

  • Hey Cappy: Nice cut. The newer music ("Speed?") gives it a fresh feel, while the atonal David Shire score (which I love) automatically makes it a child of the 70's. One of my favorite films if all time. Good, pro work.

  • One of best films of the 70s. Absolutely love this film.

  • I agree. It has become a huge favorite of mine.

    -Matt

  • gesundheit.

classic film, Travolta already spoofed Dog Day Afternoon but can't touch Robert Shaw. Original every time.

  • Wow apart from the pacing being a litte slow this is a top notch effort. Well done :)

  • It's only a classic FIRST time round. True of all films. We had the Italian job remade in 2003, terrible awful waste of time. But hey i'm sure somebody liked it.

  • FAR better than the 2 remakes

  • there is 2 remakes? i no there the one thats just came out, when was the other one made?

  • the 2nd one was made for TV with Edward James Olmos. It was good

  • Great job cutting this trailer - always love the original. Thanks for the post!

  • at 2:38 is that jerry stiller? he looks old even then lol

  • LOL doesnt he?

  • Remake was decent. But this is a classic movie.

  • The original was a great movie and there will only ever be one Walter Matthau.

Terrific job on remaking the trailer.

  • Great job on this trailer upgrade!

  • I haven't watched this but this great fan video really sells it.

Good effort, thanks for uploading. :)

  • i saw this origanl 1 last night

  • I hate remakes.

  • Me too ...

A masterpiece like this one can´t be made better, there is simply no cast existing anymore today, who could pull a movie like this!

  • I usually do but the new movie was awesome it was totally cool! i can understand now though what people mean about how the gangster thug badguy wasnt the right part. I saw the new one first If you don't see the original first, you end up thinking oh yeah hes supposed to be a thug John Travolta did great (which i still think he did) but after seeing the original i realise the villain is supposed to be a mastermind guy with the thing planned ahead ,one of those dudes you wouldnt suspect to do this

  • i didnt see the original yet, but i watched this trailer. im going to buy the new movie and the original once the new one comes out on DVD, and im going to look for the original.

  • Cool post: I especially like the revised disclaimer at the beginning! I agree - Hollywood has run out of ideas. Not only do they remake classics like Pelham 123 but also crap (remember the Out-of-Towners?). With this economic downturn, we need fresh new ideas to press forward such as they did during the Depression. Fancy editing, lots of noise, and special effects without a decent script provides nothing - just more people suffering ADHD! I wish movie producers would finally get the hint.

  • This is the original and I can say it is better than the new movie released today. The ending to this movie is much better.

  • The acting alone is way better all together. It is also more realistic, the modern broken & evil Wall Street and post 9-11 emphasis takes away a lot from the new version.

  • I saw this movie for the first time today. Awesome movie.

  • Taking of Pelham One Two Trreeee.

  • cool trailer. but way too long. today the lenght limit for a greenband trailer is 2 minutes 30 seconds. cappy take another pass and cut it down to 2 minutes, then you will have a geniune and kick ass trailer.

  • holy shit dude, that was awesome.

  • great New York movie

  • Looks better than the new one

  • I saw this movie for the first time a week ago and I LOVED it it was one of the best movies ive seen from the 70s

  • "What do they expect for their 35 cents? To live forever?"

  • NICE FUCKING WORK. The editing was solid bruh. THAT is suspense. I dont know what these trailers are doing now but telling you the whole damn movie.

  • my dad has the movie n ive seen it many times its amazin n funny the hijackers r really clever yeah a remake of it seems bad n it wont b as good but still ima c it

  • Love the green banner in the beginning

    What music did you use?

  • various tracks from Immediate Music

  • Wow! Urban Chaos ruled back in 1974!

  • good movie i hope the new one is good and puts a new spin on it

  • I didn't know there was an original until my dad commented on it after seeing the preview for the new one...Why can't hollywood come up with anything original?

  • pisses me off that a remake was even considered

  • @NYCPulpHero i know, the original film was crap as well.

  • Cool vid buddy. What music did u use?

  • woah robert shaw! i have to see this now

  • Very nice. My only real beef is that your music is too modern for the film's 70s vibe... the original soundtrack was finally released a few years ago so you could probably track that down. Other than that, well done!

  • dergelbevonderelbe,

Robert Shaw's character is supposed to be South African mercenary.

  • I hate to plead ignorant about this films' existence, but I am dying to see it now. I've already put it on my netflix list. I am slowly rediscovering Matthau....I recently saw Fail-Safe for the first time and Matthau, along with Henry Fonda is outstanding.

  • BRILLIANT!!!! I LOVE IT! Seen this movie millions of times. Looking forward to the remake, but the original is THE original!

  • Man im old!! I saw this in the theatres. Funny thing, I love Walter Mathau, but i cant take him serious in roles like this....he was such a funny guy!

  • Great movie,Robert Shaw....what an actor,hugely under rated

  • Very nicely assembled and paced but maybe gives away too many of the film's good bits. The music comes on a little strong and loud over the actor's lines too. It would be nice if you'd mined the film's original score for music cues.

  • Wonderful trailer for a wonderful film. BTW, you're absolutely right about Hollywood; never seen a good remake.

  • Fantastic!!

  • Excellent beau travail,j'adore.

  • WOW! great job on this!

Is the villain in the movie german?

  • Superb!

  • nice job on the trailer

  • OH Cappy!! How wonderful!

Another Gem...and yes, I agree makes ME want to go out and rent this one and see it again. Great editing...5* my friend!!

So glad you are back and creating. :) Suze

  • this looks awsome
