  • No Strings!

  • Thank god this never saw the light of day. The animations are bloody awful and would have been a complete disgrace to what the orginal thunderbirds series was. I say, unless your going to go back to using the puppets, leave it well enough alone.

  • lol, cgi my arse.

  • It's very well done, and well done on those who attempted this."but" that is the problem. Like most remakes it tries too hard to improve on something that was already right. It misses the point that the reason why the original is so good is because it "is" string puppets and watched with an attitude "Strings! What strings?". It lacks innocents, & trying to make something perfect sometimes makes our imaginations lazy, so it becomes more forgetful.

  • Apparently, that project was shelved when Granada and Carlton merged in 2004.

  • the puppets are awful

  • NOONE Ever-'Learns' ... If-You 'Forget'-Your-Keys ... You-Have-to-Go-'Bach'-to-the-HOUSE so-to-Speak if-You Want to-Make Something 'Better' ... First-You Have to Remake-It ... 'First'-HAMBURG Then The-WORLD so-to-Speak!!! >(*~*)<

  • on wikipedia (see Thunderbirds tv series) it is said there is a 2011 project w cgi

  • It dosn't look that great, but I wish I could see it! What?

  • It looks like the characters are taking the P out of the originals - Thank God this never went to air !

  • good thing gerry anderson is creating one as we speak

  • Shame it didn't happen. May - just may - have been better than that travesty of the last TB film.

  • Terrible

  • To be honest I think this looks dreadful but had to laugh at the end. "Look no strings!"

  • im pretty sure these versions of the characters are in the uncanny valley. because they freak the shit out of me

  • I still prefer the failed live-action movie better.. It has awesome designs and sfx. This is just, I dunno.. Still marionette like how it used to, but no strings visible. I like thunderbirds coz of its characters, gadgets, and storyline. Probably better to take off the "doll" looks.

  • It looked like Team America meets Thunderbirds. The Hood is so "Wolnly"

  • What happened to Scott ? UGH ! All he had going for him were his looks (he was such a moody little sob) and now ...oh,brother !

  • To be honest I think this series is just terrible and I'm not surprised it never saw the light of day. The vehicles don't follow the kind of military-like design that the original had. And the humour is just out of proportion for characters who are well disciplined in saving lives. It just looks like a parody of Team America. And I know that obviously Thunderbirds came decades before Team America, but you know what I mean - similar humour and too much parody.

  • "No strings attached!"...Heh.

  • Forget what these doofuses say. I'll take it!

  • Sorry, but it looks too team America'ee, looks like a parody of thunderbirds rather than what thunderbirds should look like

  • The character design and dialogue suck so much I want to christen it "Vaccuumbirds".

  • LOOK NO STRINGS I AM SO FUCKING GOING TO FUCKING PUT MY PC OUT OF WINDOW NOW AND ERASE MY MEMORIZES OF THIS SHIT WITH A GUN

  • I'm glad they didn't release this after all. This looks like a cheap carbon copy of Team America, although I know obviously Thunderbirds came first way before Team America, but if you get what I mean. The same facial expressions and everything. Though I suppose anything's better than that awful live-action Thunderbirds film, where the actors didn't even look similar to the characters. I read somewhere that Joe 90 was going to be made live by Disney but that obviously was just a silly rumour.

  • @boffinme80 If Disney did do their own version of Joe 90, it would make the 2004 Thunderbirds film feel like it was as good as the original series. I personally thought the 2004 film was okay - I just wished that they had much less of a kids' tone, as Thunderbirds was ideally for viewing by people of any age.

  • On 11 January 2011, a new series of Thunderbirds was announced by Gerry when he was interviewed on BBC Radio Five Live's Drivetime programme

  • @JohnT03 yes, Gerry has been issuing press releases left, right and centre, but these are clearly intended to drum up interest from production companies, since all the press releases neatly sidestep any production info. You can 'announce' projects until you're blue in the face, but that doesn't mean they're going to happen. And if this travesty is anything to go by, let's hope Thunderbirds is NOT revived.

  • grim

  • I agree, this looks awful, thank heavens it wasn't made; shame Frakes couldn't have been beamed up before he got into his directors chair ;-)

  • "Scott! Pull out! It's too risky! The whole place is gonna blow in 10 seconds!!!"

    "Good. I only need 9!"

  • ok like the the effects but sorry you can't change the caracters thats why nobody really like it 'In my opinion' :)

  • Total shite. It was good in it's day now lets just leave it alone.

  • Please tell me you made this and you are trollin everyone

  • Apparently Gerry got the Rights back from ITV and was given the go ahead, he hasn't written the first episode yet but he's planning it. Hopefully the CGI will have moved on since then

  • @SilverGothWolf yes its true the rights r bk with gerry he signed a non disclosler agrement

  • The face and the change of shape for the craft was bad. Even Scott was a precocious pr@*k too. Not like the original character at all.

Thunderbirds in CGI is a great idae, but it has to stay true to the originality of the characters and stories. Basically how it was done originally. Shame we are still waiting for a re-make of this fantastic classic. Haven't watched the new Captain Scarlet but from what I've told its great. Time for Thunderbirds to get a re-make. Now that would be FAB!

  • what the....??? This is SO bad!!

  • Sadly, I would've preferred this to what Jonathan Frakes did. Such a lost opportunity.

  • what's that big thing at 1:21? It looks like an elephant from halo

  • @jason123456789210

    its the mole

  • @jason123456789210 I think it's the mole's transportation-platform.

  • @jason123456789210 Or a Jawa Sand-Crawler from Star Wars

  • @jason123456789210 Or a Jawa Sand-Crawler from Star Wars. This had potential...EXCEPT for the look of Scott. He looked like an INSANE Chuckie doll(which is redundant but accurate!). The characters being rescued looked very much like the original series. The vehichles looked great! T-B-1 looked good but a bit too amorphus. The original looked more pleasingly militaristic. The movie was often horrid, but the vehichles ROCKED! Rolls Royce wanted out, so thats why Frakes went with aT-bird limo.

  • At least with the new series announced today Gerry Anderson himself will be making it. He is the only man who can put the original true heart and spirit into this show :)

  • @xxxRobsterxxx yeah i hope with the cgi it'll still look like the original

  • that looks better than the movie that was made

  • WOW...that looked SHIT!!

  • working in Supermarionation is incredible hard, and boring, as Gerry Anderson said infact he only made Space 1999 just to get away from working in Supermarionation, Trey Parker and Matt Stone found it to be equally tedious to do...

So why even remake it at all. Even if this is a fake, which i am defietly torn on whether it would be remade at all.

But anyway, i found the Captain Scarlet new shows to be pretty good, as its own show, very dark indeed, not as dark as the original however

  • durka durka durka durka durka druka america FUCK YEAH

  • Why didn't they send it? It looks fabulous!

  • Thunderbirds are STOP!

  • I think a part of me just died.

  • This has to have been a joke. Jesus Christ, they couldn't have made it any cornier if they'd tried.

  • This looks almost as bad as the 2004 movie. When i found out Jonathan Frakes was going to direct the movie i thought we were going to get something special, but WHAT we ended up with was just AWFUL. Shame on you Mr Frakes, we will not forget.

  • if i was a puppet in that show, i'd cut my own strings

  • omg what a disaster!

  • The original will never be replaced... but this one looks much better than that terrible movie that was made in 2004.

  • trust an american to balls this up

  • You cannot beat the original. The 60s puppets had a certain charm, and i doubt that anything new could top them. The whole thing was real aswell, The explosions, the aircraft and vehicles, the sets. No ammount of rendering can beat an actuall recording, which is why i believe Thunderbirds should be left as a fond memory. If you try to remake it, you are more likely to ruin it as expectations are so high. This was proved on 04 when that abomination was released...

  • oh youd better burn that shite sailor

  • That had potential! The new Thunderbirds movie could have learned from this, as far as pace and design go!

  • This could have been really good if they didn't change the look of the ships and matched the voices better. Terrahawks was dreadful, the Thunderbirds film was lame..........this could've been a good way to move with the times.

  • That could have been awesome. The film kinda sucked. Not enough actual thunderbirds in it.

  • @TheHairofTime The film was completley poor and messed up!

  • Ahhhhhhh, what the hell have they done to a classic, Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • This is a joke, right?

They couldn't possibly have thought this was actually a good idea.

  • What the hell is up with the Star Wars similarity at 1:19 - 1:39?

    And they're running.. Oh my..

  • major ass suckage

  • What the heck have they done to Thunderbird One?!

And running? They're never supposed to run, it's not natural. *grins*

  • LOL, looks like Team America :D

  • No. Team America looks like Thunderbirds.

  • Almost looks like a comedy I'm sorry to say

  • Hell, I thought it was a comedy.

  • Thank god this didn't air.

  • if they cant have the original charcters and VOICE ARTISTS (which they cant, some of them arent even alive any more) then it wouldn't work.

  • Wouldn't have surprised me if Gerry was actually in on the whole creation of this. He still maintains that he wants to recreate Thunderbirds using today's CGI effects and technology. But since Thunderbirds is now officially owned by Carlton/ITV, they won't let him anywhere near it. Kinda sucks for the guy, not being allowed to be involved with his own creation anymore :(

  • This would have been great. Loved the original series but one complaint - needs CGI strings.

  • This preview is not as bad as some here think. Like not judging a book by its cover, don't poison your view expecting a clone of the original. A CGI-Marionette combo is unique and intriguing, especially with more realistically designed TBs, and it's infinitely better than that kiddie live action version. I think Gerry would've liked this take a lot, and it should've at least been given a full episode chance.

  • this had potential but it was rubbish to the poor acting, script and and it would of been better with just the CGI and not the puppets as well.

  • I would appreciate a remake of Thunderbirds with puppets and CGI, but maybe not as Americanized as this

  • I'm delighted this was never realised - it looks absolutely dreadful!

The original can't be beaten as Mr. Frakes discovered.

  • @NigeTelly Don't insult commander riker.

  • @NigeTelly This was designed to sort of keep the marionette type look of the original, but all in CGI. I think if there was a Thunderbirds TV show re-released, and it done in CGI, it be done to look a little more real. And ya the 2004 movie was horrid! Nothing beats the original! *watches on Blu-Ray*

  • new series was called thunderbirds:IR but never released.

  • @NigeTelly Dreadful?! Stop being soft. It look horrendous! Thunderbird 1 looks like a crayon that's been chewed on, and the characters looks like they were made of plastic and then microwaved!

  • @NigeTelly Your comments re: the Frakes Thunderbird movie are spot on. It has so much potential, but was ruined by the "Spy Kids" approach

  • I think this would have been a great series. Puppets and CGI combined, you don't see that too often.

  • this would've been mean!

  • Because the original series was Puppets you idiot

  • This was horrible. And why where they trying to make it with Puppets? CGI would work more than perfectly!!

  • It's no suprise it was never realised.

It looks a load of crap.

  • How come this was never relesed

  • if u made it its good but if its the actual thing it looks nothing like the origanal thunderbird 1 or scott

i suppose u made it with t1 going into the earths core

  • TEAM AMERICA!

  • Geez, Scotts put the beef on!

  • wtf!........we want this and we want it now!

  • I liked the classic Thunderbirds. Here in the US, they came on TV around 1967(?)..but I finally saw them in syndication in 1971. I love them, though my brother got kinda' freaked out by the puppets. However, I wasn't much impress with the live action remake with Ben Kingsley and Bill Paxton.

  • the CGI looks good, but why did they make it so they looked like puppets?

  • umm, because the thunderbirds are puppets and they are keeping to the original.

  • They should have done what they did with Captain Scarlet CGI series. It would have rocked!

  • No wonder it didn't go anywhere, those puppets are rubbish.

  • What i've heard is that the makers of South Park were to do this, but they changed it into Team America World Police. As they changed the puppets alot that the puppet hands had armaters and the jaw could be moved rather than the bottom lip

  • Thunderbirds was long before my time and I adore it. Apparently a lot of kids being shown it by older relations feel the same. This trailer looks good, but IMHO, they oughtn't change the appearance of the Tracy lads, and if they can find voice talent to match the originals--all the better. 'If it ain't broke etc.' Incidentally, David Graham (Gordon, Brains, Kyrano and more) still sounds the same! Amazing.

  • The puppets look kinda freaky :0

  • Ehhhh... the original series was Grade A, no doubt...

Based on clips of the CGI Capt. Scarlet, a CGI T-birds would go fine... the problem was that they made the figures look too much like the old puppet versions.

Loved the "No strings" quip though :)

  • they shouldnt use puppets anymore its gay

    and its past its time

  • you cant beat the old thunderbirds so dont even try

  • how incredibly lame :(

  • Those puppets look creepy, reminds of puppet master.

  • Che bello questo trailer;

Mi ricordo quando vedevo la versione con le marionette, manovrate tramite "quasi sempre invisibili" fili di nailon.

Qusta versione del 2005 però non è mai arrivata in Italia.

    PECCATO!

  • This would have been awesome. It puts me in awe. I love the old series, but this looks fantastic. It would have been mind blowing.

  • Probably best this one didn't see the light of day.

  • This looks Ok.

But if it was shown on Television, I would'nt imagine many people would like it that much because it has a weird mix of puppets and CGI which makes it seem quite unrealistic.

  • BECAUSE THEY 'American-ised' IT, SO IT's BOUND TO BE CRAP !!!!!!!!!!!

  • i prefer the puppets any day

  • That is so out of character for Scott; in the 60s puppet show, I have never known him to be a show-off. I am glad that this CGI version did not come to be.

  • Gerry don't make it like this trailer...it sucks big time...I'm one of your original fans I was a 10yr old when the original series aired and a former member of the Century 21 fan club if you need inspiration of how the show should look in CGI then check out the movies SHREK CARS & WALL-E all brilliantly done in CGI don't do it like Captain Scarlet which was poor, Thunderbird's is the jewel in the Anderson crown don't destroy it...please.

  • Can any one turn that 5 into an 8? Better yet; has any one called that phone number? This would have made a great movie. I don't know about a new series, but if that were a nearly 2 hour long movie now that would be great. Yeah, some one call that phone number. Too bad this didn't happen.

  • what is it on youtube or someting esh

  • aparently gerry anderson is making a new series of thunderbirds. they announced it last month.

  • They did a cartoon series in the early 1980s - that was kind of OK, I guess.

The Scott Tracy puppet looks really plastic ... er ... for a puppet

  • crap crap crap crap crap, keep the puppets, keep the original scenes, keep it the same, the original was good and it did not need changing, its like the crappy new movie that they made with real people, and there was absolutely no need for the change of people or the crappy lines they said

  • I liked the effects and the general style, but why different craft? why different faces? why corny lines?

Make it look swish but stay true to the original!!!

  • dial the number to release the series

  • Man this looks good. Did they ever do this. I would watch it. I remembe the origional and my kids love it.. But not the film as it was too cheesy.

  • That was the beauty of the series.

  • Terrible!

  • yeah i have to agree it looks awfull so glad it dident see light of day and yeah he should make annouther siries with the origonal puppets not the crappy movie stuff,....

  • Well, Anderson should get the rights on Thunderbirds back and do a new series, still with puppets, something that has the heart and soul of the Thunderbirds. I know he can do it, just give him the rights back.

  • Anderson probably doesn't have the money to get them back.

  • Looks like the effects have been inspired by Team America. I am so glad this never made to see the light of day, it would have been a complete and utter disaster and would be a total insult to Gerry and Sylvia Andersons marvelous creations

  • What a disaster, way too much glitz. It makes me realize even more just how damned good the originals are. It looked too like a snipet of tomb raiders! The only way to make more would be with Jerry Anderson at the helm.

  • glad they didn't make it.

  • Looks great to me. A dead ringer for the original Scott Tracy at 1:20. As someone who was weened on Thunderbirds and who lived in Slough most of his life, I say well done chaps! I hope the CG/Puppet mix comes to fruition.

  • Sounds like one of these crappy made up TV adverts that kids laugh at.

  • it looks fake to be honest. Especially the part where he's running from the spinning blades.

  • what made us love the original (Im 22 and just caught it on I TUnes and now Im hooked). Its because you can see how much love went into the series. How much sole was poured into creating Thunderbirds. Yeah see the strings but somehow you forget after 10 minutes of watching as its so damn good. Feels like someone captalising on something thats good.

  • I'd love if they'd bring back the show, but only if it was with the puppets. Nothing compares to the original though.

This version looks like... I don't know. It just looks weird. Scott is portrayed as an arogant "I can do anything" person, and his looks completly different. Glad THIS version was not aired.

I want to go watch all the Thunderbird episodes now. lol

  • Hi, I had to say I SO agree with you. This looks awful!!! Scott looks weird and his personality is completely different - like you said arrogant. I hate to think what they would have done to Virgil lol. I love the TV series, if they bought it back in a CG format it would have to be completely faithful to the original in every respect. And they would have to look like they used to as well. But I'd prefer it with puppets tbh.

  • is this like TEAM AMERICA WORLD POLICE??

  • This is what Team America World Police was based on.

  • Looks like team america does the thunderbirds, looks fuckin awful glad a series never aired wud have ruined the legend!!

  • THE THUNDERBIRDS LOOK LIKE SHIT

  • this sucks

Removed the style and class was better in english english not american english

Again made for the brainless kids

  • I don't care what you all say i would have loved this because it kept the pupet look, but i wish that it was a little better done, e.g. the thunderbirds and scott etc

  • oh dear

  • It would have been cool to see the CGI version. Possibly better than that "Turbo Charged Thunderbird CRAP!

  • fake!!!!!!!!!

this video was posted 2006 but it says coming 2005

  • read the discription

  • yes so clearly because it was posted in 2006 but says coming in 2005 it must be a fake...

think about it - is this not possible?

it was a real video that said coming 2005, that was made in 2004, and this guy found the old video somewhere in 2006 and posted it in 2006.

    you strike me as dumb

  • it was done as a spoof guys by the team behind team america

  • somebody had too much time on their hands...

i still prefer the old ones

  • That was f*****g awful! The new CGI Captain scarlet on the other hand is outstanding.

  • Bloody hell that looked awful!

  • Turn in his grave? Gerry is still alive!

  • I directed this and i can tell you that only the sea was CGI. This was only a concept film and not meant for public air.

  • didnt gerry anderson give his blessing for this to go ahead?

where are the others? all we see is scott.

original is the best. always has been, always will be.

  • thankgod that was never aired. it looks awful, keep with the originals, gerry anderson would turn in his grave if he saw that.

  • The part with the guy hanging from the lighthouse, that was a cool situation, but everything after that was a joke. I give the creators credit for the puppet look, but it'd probably give kids nightmares. @_@

  • Thank GOD it never saw the light of day, and I though the Jonathan Frakes film sucked!!

  • America! FUCK YEAH!

    XD

  • "Scott the whole places is going to go in 10 seconds !"

    "Oh Bugger..." BOOM.

  • Looks absolutely awful.

    :|

  • That's almost exactly like "Team America"

  • Man, I've got to learn how to do this CGI stuff!

  • Is that meant to be virgil at 1:20?? How can they ruin such a classic???

  • I am a great lover of cgi but that just looks piss - no charchter at all - To be honest i think they messed capt scarlet up as well - again to much emphisis on cgi and not enough on charchter

It makes the heart weep - should have been brillant

  • i would love to see more thunderbirds i think i have the full collection somewhere maybie i could put some on youtube if i could find it

  • that lokked like a travesty

  • I think they have tried to make animation look like puppets.

  • thats because they were puppets u fool. its not as cgi as u think.its mixed and most of it looks abit cra[

  • Well, the characters looked horrible, and the CGI wasn't as impressive as the sixties Model Work!

Probably just as well this came to nothing.

Did Gerry Anderson give this his blessing?

  • yeh Gerry gave his blessing

  • the orginal show is the best, I don't like this crap!

  • What happened to the handsom heroes we all know? And what happened to Scotts face?? Whats with the brainless retard??

  • The original one still stands the test of time. This one is just wrong. lol

  • that looks absolutely horrific what a piece of shit.

  • why does scot look reta
