Then, in mid & late 1982, along came Manowar & Virgin Steele with their debut LPs. There is strong belief that Manowar's Battle Hymns is truly the 1st 100%power metal LP

Helloween is a great band, or at least used to be. They're just not the founders of Power Metal. I agree that the term was invented from journalists, but at least it helps us to categorise the breed. Anyway, i advice you to check more American Power Metal bands. Once you do, you'll forget Helloween and Hamsterfall.
