I need this my car loves to bead the water and stay there. So after i wash little water dots stay everywhere and leaves dirt spots. all because i used that crap turtle wax. I've got your wash nxt gen wash its brilliant stuff. But big mistake using turtle wax.
Hi Meguairs, i bought a 2nd hand car which have a few drops of bird droppings stain and not too sure how to eliminate it as it seems to have been embedded onto the paint surface, can claying process or paint cleaner does the job? If not what can i do, please help. Thanks.
@abgblackie It will depend on how severe the damage is. If the damage is severe...it may require foam finishing paper, claying will help possibly but most like some type of compound would do the best.
A lot of people frequently use two kinds of wax. What should I put first? I have a can of Meguiar's #16 which I use for very hot summers because it's very durable when it dries. Should I put one coat of Tech Wax on first and then a coat of #16 or vice versa?
synthetic waxes like Tech Wax 2.0 gives you the sheeting effect. Carnuba wax gives you the water beading effect. Either works great to protect your car though
is this wax nonabrasive? i have a brand new tsx and i dont want to put swirl marks on my car..thanks again! and can it be applied while the car is relatively dry?
@boyong015 i have a silver 95 tbird and after using this wax on my car it shines just as much as a black car!!! its unbelieveable!! i did use ultimate compound first and then this product. before these 2 products my paint looked like a flat color so believe me its worth using.
I love Meguiars too! Easy to use and great result. But i cant say i get this effect on my car. When it rains i get awsome small "pearls" on my car, all over. But they seem to hang out on the car and dont run off. My car is ALLWAYS longer wet with water then my Neighbours cars. Im a doing something wrong?
@Hrothnar This video actually shows water sheeting, but your water beading is also showing how your clearcoat is being protected by the NXT Tech Wax. If you want more sheeting action, make sure its smooth with the clay bar system and maintained with products like UQW. :)
i need this every time i wax my car the next day here comes the rain, just yesterday i waxed it again and later that night here comes that rain again.now i just check the weather report.
Meguiars cleaner wax paste is also good. Maybe not quite as good as the NXT 2.0 wax, but still very good, easy to work with and smells like tuttifrutti.^^
you want to make sure polymers have a chance to fully cure. If you want to put one more coat on....wait 12-24hours and then apply one more thin coat. Then just maintain it! : )
I used this stuff today on my new g8. very good product. what impressed me the most was hown easy it was to come off. was able to wax the whole car take a 5 min break then go went back and wiped it off with ezz
I have the tech wax 1.0 paste ... is the paste better than the liquid?
with the paste, I had problems applying it evenly with the foam applicator that came with it. it would be a thick layer in one spot, and just a light, hazy, thin layer in others... hard to spread out something so thick. I didn't think applying evenly mattered as long as the area is covered.
also, even after i hand-wash the car myself, the applicator pad becomes black after I'm done waxing. sorry i am a newbie at this.
yes UQD should fix your problem with the wax issue of putting it on too thick. This product will even out the result. On the other hand, applying another coat of tech wax evenly on the truck will work as well. : )
What happened is that you applied it thicker in some places and less thick in other. It would be crazy to use half the bottle and very hard to take off the product if you used too much. One bottle can do between 18-25 vehicles normally, so if I were you I would use make sure to apply the product evenly and then use Ultimate Quik Detailer to even out the coat with a clean microfiber towel. This should do the trick for you! : )
That Benz must be a garage queen. Every other older Benz I have seen has badly fading paint (and it has orange peel from the factory) and severely faded/hazed headlights.
That paint looks wy too good for a '95, even if it IS a Benz. Lack of orange peel means someone took the time to wetsand and cut the paint.
Either way, Mequiars is still awesome. I use pretty much every one of their products on my vehicles.

Do you really have to polish it before applying the wax??
ive recently purchased the wax but im trying to find out this before getting started...
thanks in advance...
kennyfutu 2 years ago
tech wax 2.0 should do a great job at polishing and protecting the clearcoat.
meguiarsasia 2 years ago
Thanks! Will be doing that :)
kennyfutu 2 years ago
@Kennyfutu your vehicle should be clayed before waxing.
Have a look at Meguiars forum if you wish to.

This product works great. I thought my paint was impossible to restore, but i clayed it, polished, and this wax really brings out the shine.
I got a quick question. Is there any advantage to waxing, letting it dry, and applying more coats of wax?

This wax works like a charm, it rains and beads nice, then 12 hours later the water is still there. Repels the water so well.

UQW is a wax booster, so preferably you already have a layer of wax on your vehicle.

you prob need to wash better and then do the clay bar to remove embedded surface contaminants
then layer the wax, thin coats work better,
, you are using too much on your coats
