  • Dear Science is fucking flawless and Nine types is just pretty good, i miss the energy. They do smooth and pretty well, but i go to tvotr because i want energy and drive and every now and then some tearjerker. strong 6.

  • Desperate Youth is their best record!

  • love this album. best of the year. im sorry but they're my favorite band and by law i have to say that. fleet foxes and destroyer are tied for second.

  • Why are we still keeping this idiot alive?

  • my favorite is 'return to cookie mountain'

  • ...does that always happen when you drink tea?

  • A high 8 to a 9 - I loved this from 3rd listen!

  • new cannonball blues*

  • django!

  • I want to have Cal Chuchesta's baby. I don't know how we'll make that happen since i'm a dude and he's a dude. But what we have is love. And with love, we'll find a way.

  • This is one of the best albums I've heard all year.

  • Is he serious saying You is the worst? You is the best song on the album.

  • I loved most of the songs on the album, and liked it better than Dear Science but not as much as Return to Cookie Mountain.

  • i am in love with this àlbum

  • Can't wait to see them at the Hollywood Bowl.

  • this is a lot of petty rambling about music that deserves everything but this. listening to tv on the radio and the way they handle interviews it really seems to me that this is a band that hasn't stopped playing in the truest sense of the word. any attempt to pigeon holing them like in that review is just plain lazy.

  • I love this album, almost from start to finish. I dislike "Keep Your Heart" and "Forgotten" strictly for the generic lyrics and vapid musical structure. Every other song is damn near perfect, especially "Killer Crane" and "Second Song."

  • no futrture shock

  • I'm enjoying it. It's my first TV on the Radio album, though.

  • I really like all the previous TVotR albums but this one was not clicking with me. I listened to it 15 times through and couldn't do it again. 15 bucks down the drain.

  • i see django reindharts album in the back - listen to

    watch?v=UUYM2fr_CkY jokes

  • I Am Feeling Like Strong 10 on this one!!!!!!

  • this review is horrible.

  • second review i've heard from this guy. second time i've wished i could surreptitiously slap someone through space and time. it took me three tries to spell that word right and i'm not sure if i'm using it correctly. long story short, if i ever think about clicking on this guys review again i want someone to surreptitiously slap me through space and time.

listen to the album not this guy.

  • @myfairvanity Sounds like reviews aren't for you, bro.

  • @farbrorpuh specifically theneedledrop's reviews...

  • @myfairvanity what you like might not be what he likes..

  • O.K. After the vegetarian subliminal messaging I don't know how I could NOT subscribe to you.

  • surprised you didn't like Return to Cookie Mountain. That's one of my top 10 favorite albums ever. I liked the new album, it was great; but not as good as Return to Cookie Mountain or Dear Science.

  • So far the album hasn't grabbed me as much as Dear Science did.. but having said that, Second Song has me utterly addicted so I haven't had a chance to listen to much more than just that one song so far!

Expecting it to be a grower.

  • I like the fact that TVOTR's albums are all different and that they grow on me. The first times i listened to their albums i didn't really find anything that stood out, but i would find myself weeks later humming a melody to one of the songs and falling in love with it. It's happened to me for almost everyone of their songs and this album is no different. There music reflects human nature which is to evolve and change.

    R.I.P. Gerard Smith

  • drinking from a JAAAAAAAAAAAR

  • Oh it's sad that TVOTR Bassist Gerard Smith died for lung cancer

    R.I.P. even when I didn't know him

  • R.I.P. Gerard Smith

  • my middle name is cal. should i be proud?

  • lots of veggies please

  • Once again, I have to say that having a random record sticking its corner out in the background of your left shoulder is distracting when the focus should be on the album you're reviewing at the time.

That being said . . . I freaking LOVE Django Reinhardt!

  • Reveiw the new starfucker album, reptillians.

  • has been growing on me the last couple days. still my least favorite of their albums but maybe it will grow a little more

  • so...did someone pay for this review??

  • You do realize that songs aren't meant to be listened in the order that's on the album correct? If you go to the Tv on the Radio youtube page, there is a 60 minute video which plays songs in the actual correct order along with music video accompanying each songs.

  • @AZN264

not sure if you are joking but if the songs are not meant to be in that order - why put them in that order ?

  • @Benutzer79 I'm not joking. I'm not really sure why they put the songs in that order on the album, but in the video they play in a different order and you will see that it makes the album lot more coherent (in terms of organization). I mean, why did they name the first song off the album "second song", its because it is supposed to be listened to second.

  • I agreed with your review completely. This is an album that definitely feels like the parts don't quite make up the whole, and while I do think each song has their own individual merits, some could have easily been swapped from the rest of their discography to fill in some layers. I don't think the title "Nine Types of Light" has anything to do with how heavy the weight is that these songs carry, but it's an overall good mix of good songs, even if a bit overcooked as a whole.

  • Wagon Christ "Toomorrow" Electronic, IDM, lush music. Review please please

  • Review No Devolucion by Thursday!

  • return to cookie mountain seems like more of a grower album to me, dear science is easily one of my fav albums of 2008 and possibly the decade, to be honest nine types of light is a slightly disapointing follow up but it still has some great moments, the main problem for me is the lack of "depth" in comparrison to their earlier stuff, not so much to get your teeth into, overall i give a 7/10 good review

  • I was hoping to hear that it's the follow up to Desperate Youth. Still listen to some of those tracks.

  • i like the weird editing you do, the cool noises. Like when u were drinking tea, that one was nice

  • Maybe you should let CAL review a album for once haha that be dope

  • Review Hollywood Undead's "American Tragedy"!

  • Looking forward to your review of Battles - Gloss Drop, and if you like it I recommend checking Adebisi Shank's second album, some similar sounds but with more of a rock influence.

  • @theDutton I saw battles play live last sunday: absolutly incredible!!

  • I think you should go old skool and review T. Rex - Futuristic Dragon

  • , you complain about how NOISY Cookie Mountain is? you're a fucking SUNN O))) FAN!!

  • Seriously, No Devolucion by Thursday.

  • @getfighted11 yes, yes, yes

  • Can you reveiw the new ponytail album please?

  • have you EVER given a 10 on an album? geez

  • Comment removed

  • bro u should do a compilation video of Cal Chuchesta moments lol

  • I want some chocolate almond milk!

  • things you should to review:

Elbow-Build a Rocket Boys! (weve been asking for weeks)

    Vivian Girls- Share The Joy

Kurt Vile- Smoke Ring For My Halo (same for this one)

    Cat's Eyes- Self Titled

    Metronomy- The English Riviera

  • i think cal should do the reviews.

  • You should get a video with Nardwuar.

  • @danielmoreen Cal and Nardwuar were made for eachother!

  • Anthony looking exquisite lately! Did you get a job at an office?

  • is that a djangology LP? and THAT'S why you're my favorite busiest music nerd.

  • Cal didn't give a thumbs up.........i am very disappointed

  • You need to chill on the metaphors. Abit too much.

  • this show would be perfect for stoners

  • The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble - From The Stairwell

vote up if you want to see Anthony dig into that!

  • You're crazy. Strong 9!

  • Completely agree Dear Science kicked my head in when i heard it too, good review only heard a few tracks of the new album, listening to it as we speak

  • good review, but its at least a seven....

  • you ought to give RtCM another listen, easily my favourite album of 2006 and perhaps even the decade - I still listen to it almost daily. I mean, if it's good enough for Bowie, then it's more than good enough for me.

  • Is Cal Canadian?

  • Hey thanks for all of these! You should review Peter Bjorn & john's new album "Gimmie Some"

  • Just noticed you say "New Cannoball Run" haha

    :

  • Hey do a review of the new Low album, it came out yesterday, C'mon do it :)

  • Track review My Morning Jacket – Circuital

  • I dunno I think he powders his face....As for TV on the Radio, I have yet to check out this new album. I loved return to cookie mountain but didn't really enjoy Dear Science.

  • i just can't stop pondering how you got that face so darn smooth bro.

as smooth as a babys butt

  • You should review "NEUROTECH" You can download their debut album for FREE on neurotech.si

  • fuck cal chuchesta

  • I have to say I completely disagree on this one, but I suppose that's the name of the game. I absolutely can't stop listening to Nine Types of Light. I'm not quite sure it trumps their last release, but it's definitely hitting the spot for me at the moment. My one grievance is that I feel like there's perhaps a better track order for these tunes. Maybe I'll make up my own.

  • 420!

  • Cal Chuchesta is my primary inspiration, he is the aura of joy that composes my being. When I wake up in the morning I am thinking of Cal, and as a result I am able to get out of bed:

Cal is my pal- it really truly is true -Cal is my pal- I want to say I love you-

Cal is my pal- We are sitting on the bench- Cal is my pal- My genitalia is now tense

  • Review GOBLIN by Tyler the Creator!

  • @mokosaurio is it out yet?????

  • Idea for a track review: Friendly Fires- Live Those Days Tonight. Really, really catchy, and their new album "Pala" is coming out on May 24th.

  • Cal <3

  • Dear Science is a perfect album not kidding

  • "Stoopid"

  • ME? I'm also not a big TVontheradio fan, but I wanted to give the new album a try.

(ever since the horrors second LP my ears are eager for surprises.)

so i gave it like 5 listenes - it's good, funky, and some of the tracks are really original and unique. It does feel like a take on some prince covers session, but since its really all original then touché. BUT the album falls short on the fact that it sounds like a compilation rather then an album. maybe Ill give the old LPs another listen...

  • review Metronomy - The English Riviera please!!

  • new Foo Fighters LP?

  • @ThePraetorian67 *hurk*

  • Glad to see more frequent videos. ur awesome

  • You need to review "Mastodon - Crack the Skye" I know it was released back in 2009 but I think once you hear it, you will agree that it needed to be reviewed..... again!

  • I never really got all that much into their earlier stuff, but this album surprisingly hits all my sweet spots. I do kind of get the flow issue, though.

  • you should review the collective, by scale the summit :)

  • PLEASE review Indian - Guiltless.

  • Review Matthewdavid: Outmind plz!

  • some songs on cookie mountain don't click until the trillionth listen. dear science is amazing in basically every way. nine types of light is only really amazing in its first half (although i agree that "you" could have been better). Still, Killer Crane is a masterpiece, and i love how it sounds like smashing pumpkins' thirty-three. i actually get a really '90s nostalgia vibe from this album, which is a very good thing

  • do you want to review the Kilimanjaro DarkjazzEnsemble - from the stairwell, maybe?

one of my favorites so far this year

and lately I was already disappointed a little bit from other bands I really wanted to hear another record from and then it turned out nox exactly what I hoped to hear...TVOTR follow suit.

the album got some great reviews and praise at other places, but a strong 6 sounds really fair, listened to it only a few times today but i am not as excited as i should be either.

  • Please Review

Resigned to the Circumstances of Chaos in a Cyclical Fashion/ Pursuing Awareness Beyond a Polarized Process

    by your old pal,

  • New Foo Fighters!!!!

  • @Caligula138 Because their awesome and one of the best bands around.

  • Vivian Girls

  • @facesplosion Good choice

  • Haven't heard this one yet but I don't think Dear science was that good. I'm more of a desperate youth kind of guy.

  • REVIEW THE NEW FOO FIGHTERS!

  • Thank you for reviewing this. I appreciate it.

  • I agree, it seems as though there are no real 'moments' on the record, no standout tracks...maybe they will drift to the surface in repeated listenings.

Please review Metronomy's 'The English Riviera'.

    Thanks

  • I feel the exact same way about the strokes album. Some of the tracks are really well put together and sound amazing, while others sound like they shouldn't even be there. Sad to say it but it was a bit of a segmented album in my opinion even though I love the strokes. Very excited about this new album for TotR. Thanks alot for reviewing it man.

  • I agree with you that exists a few songs that doesn't fit in this album. For me the first half was almost perfect, but the second one doesn't have this greatness i've felt before. Anyway, i think this one deserves an 8.5.

Favorite one: the "Young Liars EP"

    Please review Bill Callahan's "Apocalypse"

No way, it's impossible to hate Cal Chuchesta :)

  • Is that a garrison keillor mug?

  • Review The Raveonettes - Raven in the Grave

  • not a light nine??

  • @iamthefirsttosecond lol. What you did there, I see it *high five*

  • @iamthefirsttosecond an upside-down strong six = a light nine?

  • Never really got into TV on the Radio, dont feel so inclined to listen to the new LP.

  • Cal should host a whole episode!!

  • no but seriously i'm getting really tired of this fantano guy. when is cal going to just take over? it use to be cute "oh hey look at me. i wear glasses and talk about music" but now it's just kinda pathetic. this is like nickelback hiring tom waits to hit the tambourine for them.

  • a fatwa on the word "flow!!!"....i just hate, unapologetic hate

  • tv on the radio RAAADIO RAAADIO so goood gooooood goood like gravy GRAVY!

  • @realMUSICisMUSE You just listed 3 shitty fuckin bands... You have alot of balls

  • @Caligula138 well yeah i do and if you really hate them. would you trust anthony to slam them in his reviews? personally i go for different skills. i dont think rise against are a good band but i love them cos they amuse me. i find elbow interesting and foo fighters love them or hate them they have definetly made an impact on rock music. i just picked obvious bands. cos i get sick of some of the hipster bullshit anthony sometimes review cos while i find knew bands.. i really dont give a fuck
