i had a cat called LuLu, and when she was born she wasn't eating properly. So we took her to the vets and he told us her small intestine is infected and growing irregularly. He gave us two options, surgery and anti-biotics that would cost thousands (£4,000 in the end!) or put her down. We chose to get the surgery and medicine for her to get better. She ended up living 19 YEARS and was the most lovable cat ever!
its not necessary to attack other animal protection organizations. youre just hurting the cause. and as for black cats, its not just superstition...people don't find them as pretty also...or they may find them boring. but when i used to work in animal shelters the black cats were often my favorites. they had the best personalities

Overpopulated specials have to be dealt with. Unfortunately many people don't castrate they pets, so they make too much offspring that we can not support. They are to many so they can not have an owner, nor we can let them roam everywhere and disrupt the ecosystem more. And I see no other method to solve this problem, except killing them. But if they kills them, they should use them as resources. They provide meat and fur, and maybe a few other stuff.

I love black cats! They are so beautiful. I have two 3 week old kittens, one is black and one is white with black spots. I'm planning to keep one and adopt the other out. A neighbor recommended that I drop them off at the Humane society, but I'd rather be up every 3 hours at night feeding them with a bottle than to have them put down because they need so much care.

To address all the comments on why an animal would be put down if it's black - I volunteered at a shelter for a lengthy amount of time, and although black animals were never euthanized do to their colour, the fact is that many people overlook black pets and are drawn to more colourful ones. Black-coloured animals are adopted at a much slower rate than other colours, and therefore are at a much greater risk of being put down.
Anyone who kills any animal needlessly is an insane, immoral monster who needs to die. Animals are living creatures and deserve every bit of respect that we give to each other. The simple fact is animals are NOT THINGS!!!

Ive been an animal advocate for years, i'm vegan, and i've worked at animal shelters including one of the largest no kill shelters in the nation. and even this shelter could not take in stray animals, they would only take in pets, because they would not have the room otherwise

Overpopulated specials have to be dealt with. Unfortunately many people don't castrate they pets, so they make too much offspring that we can not support. They are to many so they can not have an owner, nor we can let them roam everywhere and disrupt the ecosystem more. And I see no other method to solve this problem, except killing them. But if they kills them, they should use them as resources. They provide meat and fur, and maybe a few other stuff.

I adopted a feral kitten from a colony, not even knowing if he'd be healthy or not, I just wanted to give him a better chance at life. It turns out he's perfectly healthy (after we treated him for fleas), and he's the biggest sweetheart I've ever known.
This morning he laid next to me, with his nose pressed against mine and his paw on my cheek while purring loudly. Give these fuzzy little guys a chance, and they'll change your life.

I love black cats! They are so beautiful. I have two 3 week old kittens, one is black and one is white with black spots. I'm planning to keep one and adopt the other out. A neighbor recommended that I drop them off at the Humane society, but I'd rather be up every 3 hours at night feeding them with a bottle than to have them put down because they need so much care.

This is a really STUPID video, these animals aren't put down for the dumb reasons cited, they are put down by shelters who don't have enough homes for the animals they take in so have to make rational choices about which ones will be put up for adoption.
Microchip your pet. Have them spayed or neutered. Adopt animals from shelters, don't buy them from puppy and kitty mills.

To address all the comments on why an animal would be put down if it's black - I volunteered at a shelter for a lengthy amount of time, and although black animals were never euthanized do to their colour, the fact is that many people overlook black pets and are drawn to more colourful ones. Black-coloured animals are adopted at a much slower rate than other colours, and therefore are at a much greater risk of being put down.

@GrilledMangos The problem is not euthanasia of suffering, diseased/injured animals who truly cannot be relieved or saved by treatment or surgery, but animals with treatable illnesses & operable injuries who can lead happy, quality lives. Along with healthy animals, those who are blind or deaf, are missing some limbs, or have to be on lifelong meds, and cats with FIV/FeLV, are immediately killed in most U.S. "shelters." It is lazy, it is heartless, it is unnecessary & completely indefensible.

My friend told me her old dog was killed by some devil worshippers because it was black a llllooonnnggg time ago. A lot of black animals went missing, and if you go into the woods by her house, you find all these cat and dog bones. Poor things :'(
