Just purchased this AVR love it problem I am having and it my be my own error , The tv remote turns off the AVR at the same time. Does anyone have any answers. I have a Samsung
Question: Can we connect a 2.1 speaker system to this receiver. I have a bose 2.1 speaker system and I bought this receiver to connect all my input devices. Having trouble figuring out the port to connect the 2.1 Bose PC companion speakers.
i've been looking for a micro av recicver but cannot find any small ones on the market they all seem to be the same large ones. I thought a really cool idea would be an mini av reciever that fits into a pc 5 1/4" drive bay.
Gr8 information. My TV does not have HDMI input. So I will not be able to do HMDI out from receiver to TV. Question is Will I be able to watch video from HDMI output devices connected to this receiver using component video out? Please advice.
thanks for the tour, how's it compare to the VSX-1018? Especially the sound quality? I heard Pioneer dumped down the IC on VSX-1019 but not sure about the VSX-1020 and upcoming 1021...
Currently I have the HDMI cable box connected by component lines. Shouldn't it work connected to HDMI 1 (input) if I have the receiver set to HDMI 1 and the projector connected to the "Monitor" with component lines? It works fine the wau as it is, but there is no reason that I shouldn't be able to use the preferred HDMI. Are there other setting I need to consider? I prolly got more than I needed in receiver, but at $499 shipping and all from Amazon, I couldn't help myself.
@victoryboysquartet Unfortunately, the receiver cannot convert HDMI to Component video. If you look on Page 22 of your manual, you'll see a diagram depicting this.
OK, so to use the none HDMI projector with my cable box, I must also connect the box with corresponding component cables. I have a feeling that I cannot connect both HDMI and component cables to my cable box so that I could use both the projector and the HDMI tv with the cable box. I would assume I have to sacrifice quality on the HDMI tv and use component on all my video equipment.
@victoryboysquartet Correct, I'm not sure if your Cable box can manually or automatically select its output setting but it's worth experimenting with to see if you can have Component for one source and HDMi for the other source. You can also buy a Component to HDMI converter box for under $40 so you can get everything on HDMI.
I don't know if there really is much upgrade in a conversion from component to HDMI. I still have some work to do even to understand what I have or what I need.
W/o the on screen instructions, how do I go about assignment of the HDMI inputs and how does the audio and video join through the system. If I want to run the cable through either the projector or the TV how is the audio fed? Also whenever I hook up the projector to the monitor out, I get no feed to it at all. I am sure that the settings are not correct, but that is my main problem. Like I said, I am working with a 57 yr old brain here. W/o much luck I might add. Am an atty not an engineer
@victoryboysquartet If you connect any display to the receiver through any connector type, you'll able to access the onscreen UI, it is the only way to assign HDMI connections, although all you really do here is name them so you know which HDMI connector goes to what device (HDMi 1=Apple TV, HDMI 2=Mac mini, HDMI 3=XBOX, etc... You can manually select the input signal with the input selector knob on the front panel, or the remote controller.
I replaced my 12 old Yamaha (pre HDMI) with the 1120-K. I have an HDMI cable box but the projector I am using is a Sharp XV-Z12000 Mark II without the HDMI. Also have a Phillips 60" LED TV in the same room with the HDMI. DVD has no HDMI. My quest is to connect all this crap with a 57 year old brain. The instructions are in Hyrogliphics and way too much info. It seems that the system relies on the user ability to connect the screen for the "on screen" to be available. DUH! I need help!
I just bought one of these for $360 to replace my 10yr old Panasonic htib, I can't wait to find some good speakers to go along with this thing, I just kinda wish there were LR preout jacks on it, but I probably won't need them considering how small my basement is.
i just don't see where people get the money for these things, isn't the receiver like $900/£645? i guess is some people spend there money on different things, and well make more money. P.S. this isn't an insult just a query
@imacc2009 Wrong place to ask a question, but the person you email it to will have to log into the iTunes account that purchased the music, video etc file. if you find a way to go around that, then yes, it is illegal.
I just bought this receiver today and so far I am loving this thing.. I bought a cheap hdmi switch from monoprice but kept having to cycle it off because it would not display video at times.. seems like a common problem with the device.. better switches are 100's of bucks so this was a no brainer for me
@coked007 My next video on the receiver will show off my connected devices, although that will come after the Holidays since a few things will change (Sony Internet TV coming).
I bought this same receiver a few weeks ago and ended up returning it. I'm not much of a home theater guy and this thing was melting my brain with its complexity. I ended up with a Yamaha.
@DetroitBORG I'm much happier with the Yamaha since it fits my needs more appropriately. The 1020K is a nice piece of tech, it was just far more receiver than what I needed for my setup.
@pixeltater Yes, the receiver is probably way more than most people need, but it's really the only choice if you have 6 HDMI devices like I do. Otherwose, I only have 5.1 speaker systems so all the 7.1 and multi-zone stuff has always been overkill for me.
@DetroitBORG yep but actually mac is verry stable and I can get past that I appreciate the fact that there are other good operating systems out there if they would change a few things I would go hardcore MAC
@PianoScience A/V Receivers are a step out of time, very old fashioned analogue tech with lots of wires and it requite quite a bit of organization and planning, but they are fun to learn and play with.
You said that you have a solution for the ethernet wire. I am gussing that you are buying one fo those adapters that run through an electrical outlet in the wall.
Glad to see your preview. This is the exact home theater receiver I'm planning on buying. My current receiver only has one HDMI-in port and my home theater has expanded to include numerous HDMI devices. Unfortunately, it won't fit in my cabinet (luckily, I checked the dimensions of this receiver). I'll have to find a separate cabinet first to fit this beast.
@txmoney The 1017 and 1018 I had before this one was very deep, it barely cleared the back of my cabinets (I have 3 home theaters in this house). This one lopped off a good 3 inches from those models so it fits perfectly. I absolutely love these receivers, and you can get them for a steal on Amazon (I paid $360).
@DGinja I'd have to do a full house tour since this tech is all over the place, but I'm not comfortable doing that. I will probably do some sort of Apple collection tour at some-point, but it's a big under-taking.
@DetroitBORG awhhh, was hoping japan. pioneer used to make their stuff there, great quality in terms of build.
i have a 1980 290watt pioneer stereo reciever. thing is bad ass. i dunno if ur a fan of old tech but its pretty awesome! lol iil throw a vid response if u want to see it.
