  • I am a bookbinder/ illustrator/ designer attending grad school at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. I'm really curious about the art of gilding and have a particular book project in mind. I have a question about the gesso if you have the time. Are there any viable alternatives to the painstaking process of making your own? Can premixed cakes (with the rabbit glue, lead, and slaked plaster) be purchased? I'm very low on money, so are there any alternate grounds for raised gilding?
