If you wanted to speed it up a bit or use one less balloon, you could combine the eyes and tongue with a red 260. Make a lock twist at the end and insert it into the bottom of the head. A 160 does look like it's make a better tongue though.

Speed tip: for the head make an end twist (a bubble with the knot tied into its twist), a sausage, PINCH TWIST, a sausage back into the end twist and then a longer sausage into the pinch twist. This avoids the awkward shoving of the pinch twist into the two sausage fold and will speed up the process.

I really appreciate any boy-like design since there seem to be many things a girl loves (cats, princess hat, mermaid) but I'm always eager to find more stuff the boys will like so it's even

I like this design. I know it will be popular with boys. I think you could leave the tail and make it look like a lizard. Sometimes with a snake I tie a small heart shaped balloon to the end of the tongue...makes it look like a forked tongue.

I guess you could also roll the tongue up to make it a spiral, or would it hit you in the head and upset the whole thing?
