I don't get why everybody's focused on the nudity in the comments. It's certainly the most accurate way to represent the Danse Sacrale. And for the repetition, remember Stravinsky use of primitive rhythms here, once again that's needed.
This interpretation is just great, Nagisa is dancing it well, she's playing it well (look the eyes, the breath, everything is just right).
Nude is the part of art. U cannot and should not avoid it. And it doesn't have anything to do with courage, but with expression.
I think Nijinsky interpretation will remain "the undefeatable" amongst the all later ones. This version's very end - the sacrifice, has the strength; the "repetition" of the movement is far away from boring or insufficient; the movements are tragical, twisted, highly sensible and filled with dark aesthetic...
in every second dance theatre dancers have to be naked. so that is nothing special. probably the action closest to the ferocity of the music is a rape. but this being one of the most savage pieces of world music it is the highest challenge to translate this into dance, also with geniuses like Bejart who have written dance history with this piece
I'm unimpressed with the repetition and the lack of composition. I do find it interesting that by using the device of nuditiy, the choreographer has managed to distract the audience from short, uninteresting phrases of movement.
as a dancer myself i find it a bit wrong i dont really like that im studing pina myself but god this takes the biscit but she is brave i couldnt do that good her
If she is naked, then all should be. If not then at least skin toned leotards or the like. It looks too clumsy. Also she doesnt appear confident particularly in the last section where the moves are repeated and looks awkward. But top marks for the courage to express.
Disturbing in it's own way, just fits the music really well... by the way, the musical performance is just great, I know a lot of recordings that are way worse than this. Love it!
I was so impressed with this movie! She devoted herself to the art. I think she do not hesitate to expose her naked body including puic hair even at the front of audience. Her courage should be highly praised.
bullshit. that she was naked is no argument at all. everybody can be naked- this is no effort. the great thing is how she dances and her use of her body. but the fact that she does it naked mustnt be highly praised at all. this would be very bourgeoisie-like attitude.
True 'nuff, but your hasty, Victorian-era rejection of the erotic power of her naked body suggests an even sadder form of a "bourgeoisie-like attitude"
Das ist unfaßbar!!!

again, great art ! the nakedness is just a picture for the "wild" nature....
i wonder why this is hidden in the "confirm your age" section...

You probably don't get it... It's exactly one that should be: she's the sacrifice. If all were nude or would appear so, the effect would be gone...

i think it is meant to be clumsy and not confident, isn't she being sacrificed??

Superbe. Preljocaj est vraiment un immense chorégraphe et sa compagnie mérite également les plus grands éloges.

A work of art risks being taken down because it may open some sheltered child's eyes to a basic biological function? Simply unheard of!

dont you think the rite of spring and certain the saccrificial dance is more disquiting than a snuff movie?

no she is right
many higly dancers would never expose their selfs like that
its a good argument in saying that she has really devoted herself in art with spirit and body which many can never achieve
